The whole point of a stretched tyre is you fit as much tread as possible under the arch, and then have the rim protruding slightly. so they are having as much tread as possible on the road, they just want the look of a wider rim.

Acctually Stretching tyres originated in Japan in the 70's because hotarihanzo is Right, so dont just quote "Dubbers" Plus Toyo, Pirelli, Continental and a few other Tyre makers now have "Stretching guides" available as even they say, " Done properly, Tyre stretching is just as safe as running a regular tyre size" plus each to there own dude!

Actually the reason, people stretch tyres is not for any performance gains or for better clearance, although it obviously effects this. If your car regulations require your tyre 'tread' to be in line (flush) with your car body (at the arch) then this is the only way to have wide rims AND keep it legal. Bead design and tyre wall design do not take stretching into account, this is not good for the life of the tyre or its performance.
i didn't say they were the same. USDM JDM and EDM are just indications of where the product is sold...

I never liked the look of tires that were too narrow for the rim. Too wide looks okay sometimes. I like seeing a perfectly flush tire to rim combo. But no wonder they can break the tires loose, not much contact patch.

i tried it like 4 or 5 hours ago on a wheelborow tire n we just ended up setting the tire on fire but then again it is a small old as tire

Actually the reason, people stretch tyres is not for any performance gains or for better clearance, although it obviously effects this. If your car regulations require your tyre 'tread' to be in line (flush) with your car body (at the arch) then this is the only way to have wide rims AND keep it legal. Bead design and tyre wall design do not take stretching into account, this is not good for the life of the tyre or its performance.

i didn't say they were the same. USDM JDM and EDM are just indications of where the product is sold...
they are never the same product. most of the time they don't even have the same name. for example the FD2 and the FN2.

I never liked the look of tires that were too narrow for the rim. Too wide looks okay sometimes. I like seeing a perfectly flush tire to rim combo. But no wonder they can break the tires loose, not much contact patch.
