Your whole world turns to darkness, and depression. That is what this song is about.

Personally, I think I prefer the original, but this cover is still a good performance. It's got it's own, somewhat darker and more somber, take on the song. I like it in a lot of ways. I don't think either version is outright "better". Both have their own pros and cons. People who say this is crap are, of course, entitled to their own opinions. But I think people need to not be blinding to a cover out of loyalty to the original. Some covers can provide a feel to what is, either way, a good song.
