I've asked this very question a million times, and I have never gotten an answer for it. I mean seriously - it has absolutely nothing to do with anything in the rest of the film, except the fact that it is gratuitous violence. For me, although this scene has some humor, it just seems to be bad taste to have something like this in the movie when it has nothing to do with the narrative, nor does it establish these characters in any pertinent way toward the story.
