@danielscourt take a bow sir, your playing is imo the best of any Numan work with the exception of the late great Mick Karn on "Dance". My favourite Numan track carrying your distinctive style was the 12" B-Side "Here Am I". I don't suppose you could post a video of you playing it!!! With the greatest of respect to Andy Coughlan your playing had distinction and originality. Were you invited on the tour? Did Numan give you much idea of what he wanted in the studio or were you given freedom?
@CONSIDERABLYMORE1 Thanks for your kind words! I wouldn't know which track "Here Am I" is, I'm afraid. I did a lot and they didn't have titles when I played my bass part. I remembered this track, though, because it was done for a TV show.
Gary gave me a lot of freedom to come up with stuff that he liked. It was a lot of fun.
He asked me to tour with him, but I was very busy at that time, so I had to say no. I'm sure my life would have been very different if I had said yes....
@CONSIDERABLYMORE1 Thanks again! I'm enjoying listening to this stuff again after such a long time. Praise must go the engineer, who sadly died last year, who got such a great bass sound out of my Wal fretless.
I'd love it if Gary called me up. Perhaps I should try and make contact with him myself....
Ya know, if the average person saw a normal looking guy with a voice that's barely recognizable from "Cars" leaning on a conehead saying "put their fingers in a dyke" they'd be incredibly confused and offended.
Should have been a single in my opinion. Imagine the video with Tik and Tok doing there dome head thing?! Brilliant! Loved this the first time around. Makes up for the laughable On Broadway "drunk" think Gary did with "mad celeb" Leo on the same show...
christ i knew those conehead characters appeared with gary numanat some time.i thought it was the montreu rock festival in `84.whoever put this up a great big thanks cos i aint seen it since then.
I love this album as much as Telekon. These boys of passion will rule the world stick your finger in a dyke well you know it's what she needed. What a lyric.
Thanks for posting this - I played bass on this track! I always liked it and have it on video, but now I can show my students via YouTube.

@danielscourt does that make you either Andy Coughlan or Martin Elliot?

@CONSIDERABLYMORE1 I'm Martin Elliott. Still playing the bass, mainly for Michael Nyman these days, plus some bands in my local area.

Much better than the album version. T and T look cool and this is an interesting hybrid of the Berserker/Fury image for Numan.
