i think Colette voice actor really failed. i mean if you watch the OVA or some scene's in Japanese... it's so much better. it just fits way better. to me the English voice sounds like she's self-confident. but from the manga and the OVA she definitely isn't. i really don't like English dubs when you compare it to Japanese. Sure, it's not that easy to get used to but to me they sound more convincingly. well. anyways. thx for uploading.

there is nothing wrong with dubs!This game wasn't really made for the Japanese so the dubbing is out of the question.

I will only say the voice actors for most of the characters were really annoying during cutscenes! However in gameplay, they are spot on!

The only reason why voice acting in its original sounds great is because you don't understand their language:/ In Japan, they would complain about their voice actors while ours sounds better...vice versa.

okay i said i don't like english dubs. that wasn't quite right.i don't like dubs when they're different from the language they were actually made in because in 80% of the cases they just suck. for example German dubbing of animes.or any other dubs.(Don't really kno how's that in america since I'm German)well that's just MY opinion but i love Japan and Japanese all above any other countries and languages so I can say I'm subjective.not expecting everyone wants to read with subs- well nevermind:)

Honestly, in the dub area...Tales of Symphonia is no Cowboy Bebop. Or even Gurren Lagann.

Though I understand Baten Kaitos was much worse, and I found it at least tolerable.

I actually like all the voice actors for the english version of ToS. It's some of the better english voice acting I've heard in a video game, including Colette's VA.

It's really all a gamble with english dubs, but when you enjoy them, it kind of makes your day, seeing as how good ones actually exist.

Second part is the whole sub verse dub in a nutshell. Although depending on the genera and personality, can be a boon of detriment to the character's voice.

Tales of Symphonia is one of the better dubs out there, considering the amount of voice acting veterans put on board for this game. I find it laughable that people think the voices are bad.

You're missing the point. While yes, it improves the CHANCES of a superior performance, it does not automatically GUARANTEE one. And a performance can be perfectly incredible in many ways, but if the voice(s) don't suit the character(s), the efforts of the actor(s) fall short.

Such is the case with this game. My biggest problem: Heather Hogan makes Colette sound like a dumb bimbo and almost completely fails to get across Colette's overwhelming sweetness.

@fluffy127 you are right alot of voice acting in the game is mediocre its the same its ledgendias . im fluent in japanese so i can understand the original and i can hear the skits. the prolblem with the dub is that they reuse the same VAs instead of making a original cast unlike the japanese one witch is annoying because you run into charcters with the same voice like cless guy and emil and alot of voices dont fit like the TOD voice cast is horibble

I read that Symphonia is only for Gamecube in the US; is that true, or is it for PS2 as well? I read it's only for PS2 in Japan though. Sorry for asking, but if you don't mind telling me, I'd appreciate it. ^^

you can play it on the Wii. ToS is on ps2 & Gamecube, there is a Japanese Only version for the PS2.

You don't need a GC, just buy the game and play it on a Wii. Also note, even though this game is really old, its quite expensive! Even when it was released, because there wasn't that much package distributed.

Finding a GC is easy and cheap, try Amazon
