this is my fav song by the animals, it was miles ahead of its time if you ask me... one of the best songs in history, freakin love this song =D 0:25 - 0:35 like OMG wow! i love the intro to this song and how it just slams into the gear at like 0:30 amazing!!
I like GFR's version better from the "Caught in the Act" album. The others I've seen of them weren't as good as that, and in that case I feel this beats it.
Tangerine Sequel- thanx 4 posting 2 of my favourites ! Glad you found EB & Animals via You Tube-I found them on my older brothers Vinyl Record collection when I was 12 and used to play them on a mono record player & had my 1st taste of R&B/soul/Blues and was hooked ! Saw them live in 1968 @ the Sydney Stadium, old boxing venue with a revolving stage-sensational ! To all the Grand Funk R fans - I am also, remember that they couldn't have done such a great cover if it weren't 1st created by EB !
You better read video info that says: '...Eric Burdon of The Animals recorded this song originally and co-wrote it.', and that is true. You can use google to find out if you don't beleive ;)
To Tangerine Sequel: Was that other band Grand Funk Railroad, by any chance? I know they did a cover of it that was very good too! I heard GFR's version many years ago; and didn't know The Animals did it too! Were they the original recorders of this song, or was their version a cover also?
loveoldsongs, yes that was the band, I happened to come across it from the related videos section on the right. The Animals originally recorded this song and from what I've read, Eric Burdon co-wrote the song. Then later Grand Funk Railroad (who I hadn't heard of until recently although I recognized one of their songs) covered the song a few years later.
Awhile back I found Eric Burdon and The Animals' music on YouTube, and became a big fan of theirs especially Eric Burdon's voice. I have several Playlists that categorize their music if you click on my name and then click on "See all playlists" you'll see them.
This video was recently uploaded by someone else, but I had to upload it myself so I could post it as a video response to another band that covered "Inside Looking Out." You Tube doesn't let you choose an existing video as a response, it has to be one of your own uploads. Thought the people that liked the other band's version might like to hear this as well. Eric Burdon of The Animals recorded this song originally and co-wrote it.
has anyone heard the masters apprentices cover...my favorite, is this one really the original?

There's a reason very, very few bands "cover" songs sung by Eric Burdon. Man, that guy's got all 88 workin' for him! Simply UNREAL vocal range!!

Thanks for posting this. I have been wanting to hear this version since I first heard GFR's version so many years ago. It's good. I like it.

I do like the GFR version, but I feel as if this version has more raw energy and power, just this gritty touch to it, which I like.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
GFRs version is so much cooler, from the red album, my favorite song.

Good example for early heavy metal. Great but somehow forgotten. I always liked The Animals from their 1966 time.
