Thanks for making this song. Right now, as I battle with how much I want my life to be a battle, this song keeps running in my head. I didn't start the fire and there is to much Pressure. I just want my life.
I really hate it when people come on to classic music pages and say they are here because of something stupid. just enjoy the music, no one cares where you came from. Seriously, Billy Joel is better than anything that sent you, you should have come her for his sheer awesomeness!
I had this song on several occasions yet I wasn't moved by it that significantly. But ever since I heard this song on the "VH1 I Love The 90s" series I have been having a crush and an obsessive love affair with it. It simply makes me happy I don't know why. I keep playing it on and on in a loop on my MP3 list.
What a great song and video...this is me...and don't think I'm bipolar LOL Always loved Billy Joel...what an artist.....Billy Joel always reminds me of my first Love thru his songs..good times!!! Many a concert and great performances of our own afterwards haha
Funny video! It`s like they got hold of a video director and said "Make Billy seem hip for the NOW generation"! Jesus was the first Jew I fell in love with, Billy was the second. That's how amazingly talented and awesome he is! Hot in the wayfarers, Woof! I can't wait to meet Jesus and tell him that real men come from Long Island! :o)
This dope song is very popular at the clinic where I work.
The druggies really get off on it. I saw a well-known Hollywood figure drooling excitedly and finally screaming at the top of her lungs while I tried to restrain her. This disgusting reaction is not all that unusual. A quiet lunatic becomes a giggling maniac when am mischievous guard sneaks this on the PA.
And just think...this song came out before the "bi-polar disorder" psycho-babble was popular...not to mention Ridlin, Adderall, Prozac and the whole anti-depressent alphabet...it was called "Life". Oh, I'd like to know who the cutie girl guitarist is too! lol! *wink*

The most immortal rocket ride of power, emotion, energy and rock'n roll ever. Billy Joel checkmates the universe by musical talent and coolness. The playing of the piano with his feet seals the deal for all time.
Is it just me, or does it feel like Billy Joel went full circle with this hit song? Almost has the feel of his first hit "Everybody Loves You Now" from his debut, Cold Spring Harbor in 1971; just with 90's style digital production.
Lyrically Joel, like all artists, is a tad uneven, this being one of the less impressive songs lyrically, but he has reached more and higher points in delivering a meaning through poetry than any lyricist I can think of, even Bernie Taupin, Jim Steinman &, I hate to say it, but Jim Morrison. All I wanted was to meet christie but that ddint happen. He was the most gracious unasuming guy you could ever meet. I grew up with his music and love it too. Just a little background on a fantastic performer.
@biggarfish i believe it was background vocalis patty d'arcy dressed up and equipped to look like hot rhythm guitarist specifically for the video. billy joel never had a female guitarist i'm aware of either working as studio musician on his albums or live venue.
@midatlanticcycle Thanks, I had always wondered about who that was. There are 2 guitar tracks on the song but had thought that David Brown played all the guitars in the studio.
Billy Joel is a beast on the Piano, one of my favorite artists. His music will never die. He is one of my favorite artists, and I am, i guess you could say inspired, to learn his music on either the keyboard or guitar.
this is my favorite 80's joel song, and perhaps the best semi-soft rock song of its time. its got the warm synths of soft rock, coupled with the hard-driving attitude of straight up rock, and it just kicks ass!
So many good tunes by Billy Joel and his range is unequaled with the possible exception (as a solo artist) by Elton John. This is in my top 10, along with Vienna, And So It Goes, Italian Restaurant, River of Dreams, Allentown, Piano Man, Lullabye, The Longest Time, and The Stranger. An incredible song list from an incredible singer/songwriter. These songs will stand the test of time. A lot of life lessons and passion in these songs if one listens to and studies the lyrics.
@kristinamoore2005 thanks! Anyone with a pulse has certain songs that pump them up and get them going...this is one of mine and just very appreciative of the man and his talent. I'm old-school when it comes to music but do like a good beat and understandable lyrics as well as a ballad or rock anthem, so when I looked at some of the comments posted here, felt that there should be an appreciative remark to offset the unfounded and, in some cases, the absurd and off the wall posts.
#NowPlaying on the #iPod #Shuffle-ing... "Darling, I don't know why I go to extremes... too high or too low, there ain't no in betweens... you can be sure when I'm gone, I won't be under too long".... (ask me again why I worship his lyrics... along with few million tweeps, seemingly?)
"You can be sure when I'm gone, I won't be out there too long"
Yeah, right. Billy Joel has written some of the best songs in the era of the electric guitar. And two of his best are preformed on solo piano. Lullaby and So it Goes. Billy Joel will be out there forever.
This is one of those songs, that is classic, regardless of whether you like the artist or not. I'm not saying I don't like Joel, but he is not my favorite.. but this is just one of those songs that sticks out, and brings back memories!!
Thanks for making this song. Right now, as I battle with how much I want my life to be a battle, this song keeps running in my head. I didn't start the fire and there is to much Pressure. I just want my life.

Why you tranish Billy Joel by having a ad about the debt? I listen to music to escape the world damn it!
