might i remind you this is a 4.6L engine, 281 c.i. so for all you chevy guys out there saying yeah were better we put out more hp without forced induction, well im sure if we engineered a 6.0L we'd get better numbers than you. your numbers arent that impressive, at all, youre LS3 engine spec wise compared to our 5.0 is a fair match up if anything, watch out for the new gt500, 650 horsepower :)
@22CODY11 Who compares a 2v pushrod motor to a 4v dohc motor lol its not gms fault that ford doesnt make a bigger motor. And a ls3 will spank a 5.0 all day cant compare the two.Ford guys have always been scared of lsx cars it took them 17years to come out with a na motor to out run a ls1 lmao. And btw i own a 2010 gt500
@22CODY11 Ford does make a bigger motor for there trucks the 6.2 same size as the Gm 6.2 and has more hp and still gets beat at the drag strip so whats your point lol.
who cares, this guys car is nice and if i met him in person i'd give him a handshake for being a succes in this bad economy, who care what cars other people have,be thankful for what god gave ya;)
hahahaha i find it funny that Nissan and Toyota were both able to make engines that were mass produced and make 350-400 flywheel horsepower in the early 90's yet a 2007 supercharged american v8 makes 427 flywheel hp.
@cookkile Nissan Skyline R32/R33/R34 GTR (RB26DETT) and Toyota Supras/Chasers (2JZ-GTE). Both factory rated at "280hp" which was a lie due to a Japanese gentlemens agreements :)
@innie721 I can find nothing that says it could make 330 rwhp. American cars in the 90's that made more than 300 hp: Dodge Viper (400-460hp), Chevrolet Corvette (330-405 hp [ZR-1]), Mustang Cobra (305 hp ['96-98, '95 Cobra R 300 hp]), Camaro Z28 (305hp), Firbird (300-330hp), GMC Typhoon/Syclone (300), and various specialty brands like Roush, Callaway, and Hennessy, whose cars can be purchased new, off the showroom, with a warranty :)
@MustangsCanTurnToo could any of them turn corners? ;) and yes look at some skyline forum stock rb26dett dyno runs, as i said, they advertised it as 280hp as it was the max they were allowed to advertise.
@innie721 Roush, Saleen, and in particular, Steeda have all made mustangs that could take corners quite well. The Corvette has handled pretty well for three generations now and all bowed down to the almighty Viper which, even in concept form, went through the slalom at over 70mph. And I'm skeptical at what some people up on forums but it's possible. Ford has sandbagged the official hp of it's cars for years and Roush is not allowed to advertise any car making more hp than the GT 500.
@innie721 Why were they not allowed to advertise more than 280 hp? It seems they advertised 276 for the 1992 skyline r32. Production cars, not one off race cars.
@innie721 Holly hell ur a fuckin dumb ass. Every person that has responded to you has PROVEN you wrong. And you CONTINUE talking shit. You have shown you know nothing about anything.
I will attempt to help you with some golden advice
#1 Learn to read so you can research stuff
#2 Before you say some more BS, take the dick out of your mouth.
@LOVESPORTSUPERCARS Have you ever used the internet before? Maybe try visiting google? There are plenty of dyno graphs out there of stock RB26DETT's or 2JZ-GTE's pulling over 350hp at the flywheel. You were clearly born stupid, and just as primitive as the american V8's you enjoy, what a joke.
@innie721 Only 350 (more like 320) crank hp from a twin turbo engine? Seems rather primitive when GM's small block V8 was making the same (more in most cases) hp with no forced induction at the same point in time. They were good engines but in no way were they more sophisticated then their V8 counter parts.
@innie721 what do you expect? Oh, it's more than ten years later so ctreet cars should be producing upwards of 1000hp now? Get some logic into your skull.
@innie721 Horsepower isn't always the solution. As the braintrust at Roush has proven time and time again. They produce track cars, which is EXACTLY what this car is designed for,
@innie721 tuning companies don't put their products around the ring. The prodcers of the cars do but my general understanding is that they just don't do it.
@innie721 mass produced rolling out of factory with 400hp? id like to see one of these fairy tales lol... And dont link a heavy modded supra from a jap race team, that's not mass produced.
What you fail to mention is the fact that both of those engines use a bi-turbo system, pushing more boost than the 427R. The engine in the 427R is just a stock 4.6 (~315 hp) with a roots style supercharger pushing 5 lbs of boost for a gain of 115 horsepower.
You also have to understand, that the bulk of the modifications done to this car is for the purpose of a road track, and not horsepower.
Furthermore, if you want to talk shit, the new 4.6 in the GT's are pushing 400 hp.
427R is a model number and it came from the 427 CRANK hp it put out. The motor is a 4.6L (281c.i.) 3v V8. Roush later changed the factor CRANK to 435 but kept the 427R name. Mine came with 435 CRANK hp which turns out to be about 365 REAR wheel hp. After the upgrades my approximate 365 RWHP turned into 402 RWHP, which is about 460 CRANK hp. It now has about 415RWHP with additional tuning. Hope this cleared things up.
@cookkile I stand corrected on the cubic inches statement. But I never knew they came with 427hp ( I have a 08 427r ) I guess 08 was the year they changed from 427hp to 435hp considering that's what my underhood plaque states. Thanks for the info.
Negative mcbrown36, the 427R is not 427 cubic inches as you mentioned. Cookkile is right, the 427R is 281 cubic inch "4.6L". Roush called it the 427R bc of the HP rating. Just thought I would put my 2 cents out there.
@mcbrown36 lol wow, you definately dont own a Roush if you think it has a 427 in it haha. The shelby 427's came with a 427 ci motor... roush's have the 4.6 281 ci, with 427 crank hp
@cbradley49 Or ive only owned it for 2 weeks and ACTUALLY I have 435 crank hp you stupid fuck considering thats what they starting giving them in 08's and up. ( Mine is a 08 ) . So stfu and stop being jealous you dont have 1 so you youtube your dream car since youll never have it in your driveway.
haha of course he doesn't own a Roush...check his channel, he has a golf cart that he gets around in, and plays in the snow with it...he just likes to be a smart ass and correct everyone but then end up looking like a moron himself...
@mcbrown36 the old roush 427r was named that for having 427 cubic inches.. but roush went homo on us and used the stock 281 cube mustang engine put a supercharger on it and got "427 horsepower" kinda lame.
Evidently Trans Am dude hasnt looked at the Roush 540, tell me they dont lay down over 500 to the rear wheels, better look at the numbers online my friend cause they are actually close to 580 at the fly. Anyways, you dont own a true pontiac anyway with that chitrolet motor in it. Buy an old poncho with a true torque motor!!
@gcsoccer8 They make 427 HP at the flywheel, hence the roush 427R. They put around 350 to 360 to the wheels, NOT 500. Get the facts straight. No stock mustang puts 500 to the wheels.
@gcsoccer8 Google search Roush 427R HP ratings and then come back and tell me I'm wrong. Trust me dude, a freind of mine has an 07 Roush 427 and I know these cars. I drive a shelby myself, and I'm telling you they put 350 to 360 to the rear wheels.
@m3talman774 Hey I won't argue with you on that. See my user name? I'm on your side man, I've got a trans am myself. I'm just saying, thats what the car is rated at, and they are not anywhere near as light as a trans am either. The LS1 in the WS6's is a way better motor than the 4.6 in the stangs, hands down.
FUCK that sounded good
