how are you now? i took my last dose (after tempering) 4 days ago, and i feel soooo bad, oh damn this is hell! but yeah, everything better than being a zombie!
@dannyboidj1 yeah you can, it just takes time and a lot of courage, it's all better now, still confused about all the emotions that came back, but it will all be fine :)
@Gitteee THanks! well thats great news, i just hope it hasnt affected me during my developmental periods 13-21, however i think that is only dangerous during pregnancy. and how long did you say you were taking them for?
@dannyboidj1 i took it from my 15 to 19, i also had a time i took antipsychotic and what eric says, i do not have any permanent damage, and i didn't even have any side effects from them (the antipsychotics) ssri's were worse for me. But I guess it depends on every person :) i'm now 2 months off i think, i still have some brain zaps, but it will take some time till it is all gona be okay, don't worry. Some people just overreact about how bad it is,
I started on these drugs after a very bad trip on synthetic marijuana...I had extreme anxiety and depersonalization and disconnection from reality that I didn't know what to do...I guess the drugs helped me get through that period...but these drugs should only be used for a very short period of time if at all...I'm stil;l suffering from extreme discomfort in my extremities (restless leg syndrome) and joint pain...It's a daily battle but you can persist and trudge through it...
The best cure for depression is to eat a healthy plant based diet, free of processed foods, meat and dairy products. You will not only lose weight, but you'll have more energy and just feel better all around. Give it a try.
YOUR "GOD" THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES MAKE YOUR FAVORITE PILL CANDY ! ! !
YOU STUPID FUCKER WANTING TO BE ON THESE PILLS ARE GOING TO BECOME SLAVES TO THE CORPORATE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES ! !
THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU FUCKERS, ALL YOU JACKASSES WANT TO BE ON PILLS AND NOW YOU CAN'T GET OFF OF THOSE PILLS AND IF YOU TRY YOUR GOING TO SUFFER BIG TIME FOR IT ! ! !
Psychiatry for the money. I would advise anyone thinking of taking any antidepressants to reconsider. Reconsider relying on a Drs advice also. I wish I would have read forums on the Internet before I took this drug. But I was one that thought Drs really care. Also, benzo withdrawal is another horrible thing to go through.
This is an old thread but I wanted to post this. I was on Zoloft for a little over a year and I am off now for around 6 weeks and I am still feeling symptoms. I am feeling all of his symptoms and more. I feel like bugs are crawling on my skin, joint pain, muscle pain, dizziness, chest pressure, abdomen pressure and overall fatigue. It's been 6 weeks!!! My dosage was 150 mg a day. I would love to choke the hell out of that psychiatrist. Upon parting his "services" he stated he was only in
@diglightdig no problem and again, dont be so hard on yourself for taking these drugs....when i was diagnosed with OCD in 2003, i had no choice but to take celexa i mean 10 years ago i dont even think natural cures for anxiety disorders were even around...ive taken it for 9 years and i turned out fine...i think its just time to give them a rest they have a time and place. and god bless, youll be fine
I just came back from emerg today & had a intravenous of painkillers for the lexapro migraine/headache. I'm having nausea and the whole shbang too. It feels terrific. :-/ Nightmares too. Panic attacks. I'm feeling scared all the time and it feels like my nighmares are still carrying into waking life. Gah. Anyway. I'm really sorry to hear you went through this too.
Sounds so very similar to me man..I also have very itchy skin and terrible insomnia lately as well. How long did it take for it to go away or how are you now?
I'm only 15 and I have been on 4 different SSRI's. Prozac was first, no depression/anxiety relief so then I was on Effexor, no relief then, Zoloft, no relief then, than a combo of Lexapro/Wellbutrin. I am coming off both, it's my 3rd day from the wean. So far it's not as bad as a Zoloft withdrawal where I had random crying spells for no reason. I will be taking 5-HTP along with tyrosine when I finally stop the drugs.
@ericsummey95 how do you feel being off these drugs...you dont believe that they can cause damage to the brain structure can they?....that cant be true or else they wouldnt approve them. hope your recovery is a good one
@dannyboidj1 Well I was off of them for about 2 months and I started Prozac again to give it a second try and it was worked wonders for me. Many drugs, even those that the FDA approves, can cause brain damage. Antipsychotics have horrible side effects and can cause life threatening brain damage. I thing the SSRI's are pretty safe, but they do have their risks as well.
Day Nine of no Lexapro for me. I weaned off with my trusted doctor's help. Still not wanting to believe that this withdrawal could be this fierce: crying jags, vertigo, absolutely no appetite, stomach troubles, headache, trembling, terrible sleep disruption. I am bipolar and still on lithium. I don't believe that I will ever take another SSRI, ever.
Hey man im really scared, im on day 7 of withdrawling from Lexapro the only side effects im having are brain zaps and confusion i want this to go away, HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST!!!! i do not want to go on the lexapro ever again or any other SSRI for that matter!!!
soma has thoses zapy feelings and seizures headache nausea anxiety and I depressed as because my ex husband wants me to leave because of soma but all my prescriptions r legal'they all push SSRI.Bad dreams coming off soma same thing
after my six day without paxil i was very angry and anger i never had before,my stomach was really bad, head aches, panic attacks, urinating a lot, sometimes i laugh like crazy, then i sudden feel sad, however i am more like into reality my brain acts faster,i can think better, but this is hell i feel like this was some heroin or something ever worse,it's hell to stop this med,but i know i will make it,i am taking benadryl is helping me
I know where your comming from! I was removed from celexa after 9 days. The side effects, TERRIBLE..the horrible headache, cramping in my lower stomach and sides. Tingling in my hands and body, my brain feels like it's a dish rag being rung out, bad nightmares...fell really freaky..like a bad buzz or high!!! He put me on zyprexa three days ago and im starting to feel weird again, HERE WE GO AGAIN. I just wish these drugs didn't make me feel like this. All I need is something to calm me down!!
oh my gosh i am so happy i ran across your video. i am experiencing all and more of these symptoms.. I weened from 40mg in 2 weeks i know not the brightest idea... but today is the 3d day off of it totally. i am very sick like the flu!!!!! and body jolts heart palpitations... i noticed this video is older could you please tell me how long maybe i could be experiencing this? thanks again
does anyone know how long before the extreme head pressure, dim light (even the brightest is dim) go away? for someone in my case who was on klonopin 7 years 1mg 3 times a day, as well as effexor for 5 years 150mg? I usually hear this takes 6 months to up to 2 years possibly!.. but does anyone know for sure how long till your brain rebuilds? cuz this thing is dragging on & has ruined my life.
@CoolParkourName same here I have had all the symtoms of this terrible withdrawl & they are still going strong on & off after 5 months! It's crazy inhumane, I was never told about any of this I had to look on here & learn what was happening to me on my own, & my own docs denied It and evryone just didn't care they actually smile as you describe It.. It's like some twilight zone. I also don't have much care for anything now & feel absent many times. this tells me theres truly good & evil in world
ohh ffs... why didnt anyone explain these things to me... and how does it change your BRAIN??? i dont feel like the same person anymore and i feel like im always absent in my own body... i dont care about anything anymore, not like i used to. : (
|'ve been taking Lexapro for more than two years and have tried to come off it three times with no success yet. Going for it again!!! This time I was advised to take more time, since I'm taking 20mg it should take at least 8 months. I do get very depressed and have a lot of anxiety but I've realized life is worse taking this poison. It's just not real. Don't quit cold turkey or too fast, I got suicidal thoughts and couldn't control that until I was up on 20mg again for a while. Good luck!!
If you put a space between therapist... you get the rapist... Fuck pyschiatrists... Theres no such thing as a "chemical inbalance" theres no way to test for it... It's a fucking sham. I believed in Celexa for a long time, thought it'd help me through my situation, all it did was make me apathetic - meaning, I could be jobless & homeless but as long as I had my Celexa I wouldn't care... My head hurts and I'm worried my brain is permanentley damaged.
@SummerGameProject I feel your pain man same here I felt the same way about my klonopin for anxiety & effexor till I had to come off them over a mere 2 week taper after being on em for 7 years (kpin) & 5 on effexor.. the chemical inbalance is a load of crap It really is, evrybody is in bed together for the money.. heck I've gotten more out of eating right than the pills.. & now in withdraw still after 5 months!, it's only half weakend :-/. my head has constant "head pressure" now may be Brain D
SSRI's damage the CNS permanently by make it super-hyper-excitable, shrink brain, damage neurotransmitters. Visible symptoms are deep depression, extreme anxiety, paranoia etc. Symptoms people never had before. SSRI's cause perm brain zaps, perm head/body pains. SSRI's damage mind, body, soul, in ways no one can understand you. Psychiatrists are aware of the damage. They laugh. You cry.
psych drugs damage the brain permanently. i just thought i would advert you all on this reality here. there's nothing you can do. one thing you can do is to fight back against the psychiatrists and drug companies. especially the psychiatrists and sue them for damages and try to put them in prison for assault with poisons. i'm a former medical doctor and this is all i can advise you. i'm so sorry for all your suffering. our medical system is corrupt. psychiatrists are extremely dangerous.
I never got much over 10mg in the first place, but I would always split the pill down as far as I consistently could, and I still had a few side effects. However, being totally clean is absolute hell sometimes for me. Generally, it starts with extreme anger flashes kicked off by some very unpleasant memory. After a couple of weeks of that, I fall into bouts of severe depression. I could totally handle the physical withdrawal, it's the mental withdrawal that is really really sucky.
im sorry but if im gona have to take a pill everyyyyday and then crash when you try to come off it..its gona be something good like xanax..least i no it helped me and made me feel good and (happy as shit)
i AM TAKING CELEXA AND i AM EXPERIENCEING THE SAME SHIT AN ELECTRICAL SHOCK THAT STARTS IN MY UPPER BODY AND RUNS TO MY LIMBS REAL FAST IT HAPPENS REPEATEDLY NOT CONTINUOUS BUT EVERY COUPLE SECONDS AND THIS KEEPS ME FROM SLEEPING i AM SURE IT IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME i JUST DONT FEEL IT OR REALIZE IT UNTILL i LAY DOWN TO TRY AND GO TO SLEEP. i NEED TO GET OFF THIS CRAP!
Your a nurse so let me ask you something. I have frozen shoulder causing muscle spasms in my back.sever ! Entire back. I can feel and see my soft tissue or dura actually separating from my forehead and back of head because of the spasms are pulling my muscles so tight. Well, my C7 bulges out and the bone will go out and then sometimes it will go flat. Why would the bone itself bulge out ?The Physical T. said it was probably the muscles just pulling on my spine. I was punched causing whip lash.
Also, for head aches I drink an alka seltzer because it is liquid and get right to the head ache. It works fast and it works well. Don't take it if you have ulcers or are on blood thinners or allergic to aspirin but it really works better than advil. I get electric shocks and heat and cold spells and chills but I had a spinal cord injury which caused a neurological problem. I think that the ssris screw with your nervous system. Also, drink Pedialyte which is a baby drink for electrolytes.
When your brother died it is natural to be depressed. That is called situational depression.
Our bodies are supposed to have feelings. I hate the drug manufacturers and drug companies. They throw antidepressants to you and they have so many side effects but they worry so much about giving you a xanax. Drugs Kill and they Control people. They freak out when you have chronic pain and won't give you anything for Horrid Pain but they again throw you antidepressants for everything.Hope your ok
Have you gotten any relief from your symptoms? How long were you on SSRI's before you got off. I was prescribed Celexa for about 3 weeks and I decided to come off just because i don't believe medication can help me overcome what is a natural part of life (depression). Hope all is well!
if u aren't depressed why are you on so many drugs? I am on Lexapro and Xanax. Not sure why u have Xanax and Colonapan. Tramadol? I got that for a toothache once. Didn't do anything. I have missed doses of Lexapro so I know for a fact that the "brain zaps" do occur. You do know that u can not feel depressed but be depressed right? Anxiety is a symptom of depression. I wish you well and good luck. I eventually plan on quitting Lexapro as well. Good Luck brother. Hope u feel relief soon!
Thank you for sharing. I'm very sorry about your brother. I lost my father when I was seven and I still miss him and think about him all the time. This is normal and it is okay. I've healed a lot through the years. I also know how hard it is to get off ssri's. I was on one for a while and them my insurance refused to continue paying. So I cold turkeyed. Not a good thing. Lost 60 libs in three months and suffered terrible depression. Couldn't afford the med. Glad you feel better....
I became pregnant and just quit cold turkey, I had horrible graphic nightmares, violent, bloody, It felt like someone was sticking a taser to my head, and I could not focus on anything
I took Prozac 12 years ago. I took 2 pills and after I took the medication it made my whole body from my head to my toes feel heavy. Lifting a cup of water was an effort. I lost 30 pounds within a months time. I was in bed from physical weakness between the heaviness and weight loss from August to February 1998. I have had panic attacks. I have felt eletrical shocks in my head to my spine. I started having seizures in 2007. Seizure meds. took this away. I am grateful I'm alive.
Day 3 on celexa withdrawl. MAJOR HEADACHES, MAJOR LETHARGIC SYMPTOMS, MAJOR DEPRESSION all crashing down. Fuck I gotta get off these pills im leaving for the army in 2 and a half weeks!
@aaronamccoy Ugh... Just went off 40mg Celexa for 7 weeks 4 days ago... Experiencing extreme fatigue, dizziness, feel like i'm going to vomit. My energy levels are extremely low - experiencing apathy. All I can recommend... Is eat healthy (* avoid processed foods *) and drink lots of water... Avoid caffiene... get lots of rest too... I looked online, SSRI discontinuation syndrome is supposed to go away after 1-7 weeks... Good luck, hope you don't go back on those drugs...
@aaronamccoy Don't know if you got my comment. I realized what has been causing my pain today - I started taking a dietary supplement called sam-e at 400mgs. It supposevely raises serotonin and neopineprhine. I hear the side effects go away after a week and you can feel better in a shorter time period than it does to see results from SSRI's. Also the discontinuation from sam-e is shorter, 1-2 weeks instead of 1-7 as with ssri's. find it cheap on iherb.com
@SummerGameProject thanks for the headsup, i actually popped a 20 of citalopram, that shit was just creepin up on me like the devil..i think if i had like 2 weeks to chill and be away from everybody then i could get a handle on it. i was feeling real crazy and depressive, wasn't expecting all that.life gets in the way..anyway, thanks for the info bro..
@aaronamccoy No problem bro. I know exactly what you're going through. Just don't let it take over you like it did for me. I had multiple pyschotic episodes and my goals / dreams of life we're masked by this drug. I recommend cutting the 20mg pill in half, and taking the 10mg for 1.5 weeks - then going to 5mg. Try that, thats the actual way your supposed to go off them. Peace
I know this video has been up for a long time Gary, and I've meant to write to you a lot sooner. I've sent you an e-mail as well, I know what you're going through, going through this myself, and indeed have been into way too many SSRI's whenever my neurologist has adjusted or changed dosages. Just to name a few, which include ansiolitics interspersed with SSRIs, making things worse: Lexapro, Amitriptiline, zoloft, risperdal, tyvanil, rivotril, fluoxetine...
I can sympathise with you. I began taking Lexapro when I was 16 years old for Major Depression. When I got off of it it was terrible, flu symptoms that wouldn't go away, headaches, and the brain zaps were just incredibly awful. Also, my depression got so much worse along with these symptoms. The withdrawal symptoms lasted a month, the brain zaps lasted longer. Been off it for years up until November, now weaning off of it but not feeling the withdrawal symptoms so bad, just extreme headache
I was depressed when my brother died but too no drugs to get over this. I have endured the metal pain and I know I have to grow out of the emotions slowly.
In US the psychotropic drugs are given out like candy!
Most people are not mentally ill but victim to circumstance or an oppressive environment in which the live.
Going through the same thing with Paroxetine withdrawal, but I think I can add my 2 cents, though I'm at week 2. You could talk to your physician about Topiramate (Topamax from Janssen) it might help a bit more than percocet when it comes to the headaches. Headaches have unfortunately been a part of my life and Topamax have been a big help with the brick-like feeling, though I still have it, but it's helped somewhat.
I was glad of the medication because my anxiety and depression lifted. However, my migraines increased in frequency and I lost my libido.
On coming off the drug I experienced awful nightmares, mainly related to death, murder, loss, insecurity, headaches, and a relapse into depression because of withdrawal virtually immediately. A private psychiatrist said the depression was due to withdrawal of the drug not due to a recurrence of my original problem.
Lastly, I think ssris were developed as a subtle form of euthanasia, since those who take it have no desire for sex. Hence, the risk of passing on mental illness to another generation is greatly reduced. I can't help but feel as though there's another method to the madness of psychiatry. Just look at the history of it. No wonder I used to flush my meds all the time. I should have kept doing it.
Just like the tobacco industry, big pharma has found a way to hook people, keep a long term customer base. That's why ssris were developed. I could go on and off anafranil as I pleased. This displeases both the greedy shrinks and drug manufacturers. No better way than physical dependence and drug tolerance to insure you have a steady flow of customers. I resent it all to fucking hell.
Benzos are a lot worse than the ssri's. Many ppl can not detox from benzos. Heroin is easier to come off and I am not kidding. I attempted suicide 2 times when the klonopin I had taken for nearly a decade pooped out on me. SSRI are a walk in the park compared to a benzo like klonopin or xanax.
If Gary thinks lexapro is bad, he has yet to experience true pain and horror that xanax will bring when he tries to come off it. It is much easier to come off heroin than a benzo like xanax. I was on lexapro for 3 years. I came off lexapro and it was painful but nothing compared to the benzo. Only take benzos after all other drugs have been tried and exhausted. Benzo withdrawal is a walk thru hell and I am not kidding. SSRI's bad. Benzos are horrible.
I think ppl have to actually be hospitalized if their benzo dependency is strong enough. I heard you could have some lethal side effects from withdrawal. My father has been a valium addict for 30 years. He says he'll never go off it.
@DigitalAnonymous Good comment. I take Klonopin. It's hard to stop: not as bad as hard drugs, not at all, but the WD is a real, physical craving. Lexapro actually sounds worse to me, as do all SSRIs/SNRIs.
@13abbitt yes but the ssris dont do away with long term memory as clonazepam does (was on 6mg/day for 10 yrs)... and benzo WD's can actually be deadly - similar to the DTs when you quit drinking (gaba receptor OWCH).
ssri's are just about 3 weeks of feeling like you're physically sick with a flu that sometimes gives you electric shocks.
Yeah, the shrink has me on 10 mg of valium for the past 6 months now. I feel funny if I try to stop taking it. I don't know if it's psychological or if I'm hooked now. I refuse to take a higher dose of it for that reason.
Gone are the days when you could take some meds to get you over a rough spot. Now it's hella withdrawals and protracted illness to get off them. CEOs of these pharmaceutical companies are laughing their sick fucking asses off and raking in the dough, along with the shrinks who dole this shit out freely. All while we suffer from sexual dysfunction and other side effects from meds that don't help or cure. I feel like shit on and off luvox. It's a cash cow for everyone except the mentally ill.
It's bad alright, my old shrink had me on 2mg of Klonipin 5 times a day. When they took me off after about 4 years, they did it in 2 weeks. Doctors who know better sometimes take more than a year to take somebody off of Klonipin, even tapering with valium. Some people do it over 1 or 2 years with a water titration method, using the Klonipin, but that sounds like a pain in the butt.
acupressure for the headaches. For me the two points on the back of the head almost like you are "hooking your skull where it meets the neck.". Lay down close your eyes and take many deep breaths. Meditation was necessary for me to be able to manage my days. Even still I had some "downtime". The other drugs are also causing difficulties.
B-vitamin complex with folic acid and the use of fish cod liver oils in large doses with meals may help with the anxiety.
I spent 4 months withdrawing from 10mg Lex and I still didn't manage to avoid withdrawal. I had the most severe headaches I have ever experienced, vomiting, shaking, anger attacks, severe depression, brain zaps, electric shocks through the body etc etc. It took months to recover and I still have memory loss and post ssri sexual dysfunction - diagnosed by myself because doctors seem to think I'm lying.
Good luck to everyone withdrawing. It's difficult and can be prolonged but it gets easier.
This is a great video. I'm going through withdrawals right now from Zoloft and the only way I can describe the feeling in my head is like a brief second of debilitating seizing of function in my brain. It feels if it were to last longer I would be completely handicapped. Aka brain zaps. My doctor told me it is harmless but I'm not so sure I believe that.
I was on celexa for 8-9 years. It took my 1 year to slowly taper and then I had withdrawals for about a year longer. This stuff is very powerful and the withdrawals are brutal. Time is the only thing that will help. A slow withdrawal or taper is key. These poisons almost killed me. Fuck big pharma and their lies about SSRI's . Be strong. Dr. Peter Briggins has a few books about this issue.
Thanks Gary for posting this....Anyone have any advice on quitting cold turkey - I know it is not recommended, but I have no choice, I lost my medical insurance and cannot afford the medication to ween off of it. I was 75mg of Effexor XR. I have only been off for 3 days and I am experiencing the brain zaps, shivers, and dizziness
Never ever ever go cold turkey. You will rebound into a world of hurt. Slow taper is key. Can you get generic meds at Walmart? They have them for $4 a month. You really need to reinstate the medication and do a very slow taper.
Hi ,I am on 35mg of Lexapro Prescibed by my Phyciatrist, if I miss 1 day I am shaking ,flu symtoms, feeling really light headed.I also take 10mg of Ciprapine,I also take 15mg of Zispin at night.I have the same thing about dreams,my dreams are intense when I wake it takes an hour to calm down.
There's no doubt that the neurochemistry of Lexapro is for real and it does help with depression, but it's also why our arses are getting kicked while trying to come off it! But in the meantime, ZZZZZIIIIINGGGG!!! (oof)
I have been taking 375mg of EffexorXR for the past 2 years. My anxiety is next to nothing and functioning very well if I take my dose at the same time every morning with food. If I skip a dose or are more than a couple of hours late I have the "repeating nightmare video"; meaning that the same part of a nightmare repeats itself over and over all night long. Crazy dreams that I haven't had since childhood resurface with new horrible elements. I will be posting a vid later this week in response.
....I tappered it to fast. The 4 months of the tapper was pysical hell. Then 6 weeks after is when all hell broke loose in my mind.Anything evil my mind could make up ,it did.Non stop ,every minute ,of eveyday for months.I had urges and even visions of killing myself and anyone else that was around me.I had to lock myself in my room because of this.I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks.I can't put into words the absolute mental anguish that I and hundreds of thousands of others went through.Or are going throu
I tapered for 3 months to get completely off Paxil after 8 years on it. Nightmare. Total nightmare. It took me a good 7 months before the physical and mental/emotional withdrawal effects became manageable. The physical stuff was bad, but the horrific rebound anxiety and depression was the worst by far.
Its an actual crime that the pharmaceutical companies brush this off as a minor issue and prescribing MDs buy into it!
Thank you for sharing your story. We need to be made aware of the effects or ineffectiveness of these mind altering drugs. God bless you for telling your truth and sharing your experience. The doctors and manufactures don't tell us these things. Grief is very personal, it takes as long as it takes. It's a hard thing to loose a sibling, because you share so much history, its a very deep bond. Try to find your own personal and private way to honor your brother's memory. (It helps)
Unfortunately there's nothing to do but accept it and go through it. I just spent the last seven months getting off of Klonopin, and it is no picnic.
I know how you feel, and I know how bad it sucks. Just remember that it's only temporary. The reason you're in withdrawals to begin with is because you took a pill to try to change the way you feel. Don't look for more pills to help with the withdrawal - just accept your symptoms and take comfort in knowing it won't last forever. Hang in there!
It's probably unrelated but I used to get sweaty and the shakes from low blood sugar. Hours after eating or drinking a meal with a big load of simple carbohydrates I would get giddy and sweaty (it was a hypoglycemic response as the body overshoots with insulin). Sometimes I would wake in the middle of the night with it. I now avoid big loads of simple carbohydrates and go for low glycemic foods. Never had any hypo episodes since. I was only watching because I am interested in 5-HTP. Good luck.
Gary I'm sorry I didn't respond straight away. I'm having some problems and have decided to take a break from YT and I've made my vids private for the time being. I would have suggested you go watch the many I've made on SSRI withdrawal. Anyway, I relate to what you're saying and a lot of it sounds like fibromyalgia, which I also have but hopefully it's just basic withdrawal and you'll be fine. Good luck!
Gary, I hope you are doing better! I do not have much advice as I am on Paxil and Have not tried to discontinue it yet, but I have just discovered your videos and yours are the best and most informative of all! I have learned so much from you.....thank you, I wish you well. Take Care.
Some have terriblel withdrawal, some don't have it so bad. Be careful coming off of an SSRI. In fact, try 5-HTP before going on an SSRI or SNRI, you'll get the same effect and when it's time to come off, you won't go through what I'm going through, guaranteed !!! I tried both Lexapro and Zoloft, neither of which helped me, but they may help you. The problem isn't so much getting on or even staying on, watch this video and see how bad it can be coming off.....
@gary1rn Gary if you're still here on YT could you please let me know how the withdrawal eventually panned out for you? I have some questions I would like to ask you about W/D of Zoloft if you know anything about that.
The best way to come off your pills is not "fearing" whats too come...say fuck it and move on!

Panic attacks. I'm feeling scared all the time and it feels like my nighmares are still carrying into waking life. Gah. Anyway. I'm really sorry to hear you went through this too.

@ericsummey95 how do you feel being off these drugs...you dont believe that they can cause damage to the brain structure can they?....that cant be true or else they wouldnt approve them. hope your recovery is a good one
dannyboidj1 6 days ago

Good luck!!

They laugh. You cry.
draziom902 1 year ago
psych drugs damage the brain permanently. i just thought i would advert you all on this reality here. there's nothing you can do. one thing you can do is to fight back against the psychiatrists and drug companies. especially the psychiatrists and sue them for damages and try to put them in prison for assault with poisons. i'm a former medical doctor and this is all i can advise you. i'm so sorry for all your suffering. our medical system is corrupt. psychiatrists are extremely dangerous.
draziom902 1 year ago
I never got much over 10mg in the first place, but I would always split the pill down as far as I consistently could, and I still had a few side effects. However, being totally clean is absolute hell sometimes for me. Generally, it starts with extreme anger flashes kicked off by some very unpleasant memory. After a couple of weeks of that, I fall into bouts of severe depression. I could totally handle the physical withdrawal, it's the mental withdrawal that is really really sucky.

Well, my C7 bulges out and the bone will go out and then sometimes it will go flat. Why would the bone itself bulge out ?The Physical T. said it was probably the muscles just pulling on my spine.

SummerGameProject 1 year ago
@aaronamccoy Don't know if you got my comment. I realized what has been causing my pain today - I started taking a dietary supplement called sam-e at 400mgs. It supposevely raises serotonin and neopineprhine. I hear the side effects go away after a week and you can feel better in a shorter time period than it does to see results from SSRI's. Also the discontinuation from sam-e is shorter, 1-2 weeks instead of 1-7 as with ssri's. find it cheap on iherb.com

@aaronamccoy No problem bro. I know exactly what you're going through. Just don't let it take over you like it did for me.

Hi
I was glad of the medication because my anxiety and depression lifted. However, my migraines increased in frequency and I lost my libido.
On coming off the drug I experienced awful nightmares, mainly related to death, murder, loss, insecurity, headaches, and a relapse into depression because of withdrawal virtually immediately. A private psychiatrist said the depression was due to withdrawal of the drug not due to a recurrence of my original problem.
jajomal 2 years ago
Lastly, I think ssris were developed as a subtle form of euthanasia, since those who take it have no desire for sex. Hence, the risk of passing on mental illness to another generation is greatly reduced. I can't help but feel as though there's another method to the madness of psychiatry. Just look at the history of it. No wonder I used to flush my meds all the time. I should have kept doing it.
ihh100 2 years ago 2
Just like the tobacco industry, big pharma has found a way to hook people, keep a long term customer base. That's why ssris were developed. I could go on and off anafranil as I pleased. This displeases both the greedy shrinks and drug manufacturers. No better way than physical dependence and drug tolerance to insure you have a steady flow of customers. I resent it all to fucking hell.
ihh100 2 years ago 18
Benzos are a lot worse than the ssri's. Many ppl can not detox from benzos. Heroin is easier to come off and I am not kidding. I attempted suicide 2 times when the klonopin I had taken for nearly a decade pooped out on me. SSRI are a walk in the park compared to a benzo like klonopin or xanax.
DigitalAnonymous 2 years ago
If Gary thinks lexapro is bad, he has yet to experience true pain and horror that xanax will bring when he tries to come off it. It is much easier to come off heroin than a benzo like xanax. I was on lexapro for 3 years. I came off lexapro and it was painful but nothing compared to the benzo. Only take benzos after all other drugs have been tried and exhausted. Benzo withdrawal is a walk thru hell and I am not kidding. SSRI's bad. Benzos are horrible.
DigitalAnonymous 2 years ago
I think ppl have to actually be hospitalized if their benzo dependency is strong enough. I heard you could have some lethal side effects from withdrawal. My father has been a valium addict for 30 years. He says he'll never go off it.
wauquelin 2 years ago
@DigitalAnonymous Good comment. I take Klonopin. It's hard to stop: not as bad as hard drugs, not at all, but the WD is a real, physical craving. Lexapro actually sounds worse to me, as do all SSRIs/SNRIs.
13abbitt 2 years ago
@13abbitt yes but the ssris dont do away with long term memory as clonazepam does (was on 6mg/day for 10 yrs)... and benzo WD's can actually be deadly - similar to the DTs when you quit drinking (gaba receptor OWCH).
ssri's are just about 3 weeks of feeling like you're physically sick with a flu that sometimes gives you electric shocks.
ScarwebZ 1 year ago
Yeah, the shrink has me on 10 mg of valium for the past 6 months now. I feel funny if I try to stop taking it. I don't know if it's psychological or if I'm hooked now. I refuse to take a higher dose of it for that reason.
wauquelin 2 years ago

Hope that help sum. G'luck peace.

My doctor told me it is harmless but I'm not so sure I believe that.
tmerinen 2 years ago 2
I was on celexa for 8-9 years. It took my 1 year to slowly taper and then I had withdrawals for about a year longer. This stuff is very powerful and the withdrawals are brutal. Time is the only thing that will help. A slow withdrawal or taper is key. These poisons almost killed me. Fuck big pharma and their lies about SSRI's . Be strong. Dr. Peter Briggins has a few books about this issue.

Never ever ever go cold turkey. You will rebound into a world of hurt. Slow taper is key. Can you get generic meds at Walmart? They have them for $4 a month. You really need to reinstate the medication and do a very slow taper.

have faith that your body will adjust. I am going off a lose dose, 5 mg and have very mild withdrawal symptoms.
You will be fine. Just be patient.
This is why I wish doctors would prescribe low doses and see how that does.
Good luck and I assure you it will pass. I've been throw withdrawal twice now and became fine after about 4 weeks, 8 weeks for everything to be gone.

These drugs allow toxins to build up in the body & the load becomes too much. Maybe there's also a need for detoxification.
Also, look up a subject called multiple chemial sensitivity.

If it is any help, I had exactly the same problem getting off Paxil. That stuff was made by Satan's pharmacist.
