This is one of the most important songs I've ever heard. I recently discovered it again and I was crying for a long time after I heard it. I can think of no other song that I most needed to hear than this one. Thank you, Stephen Sondheim. This is life in a song. May be the best musical theater ever written.

they lip-sing when they are live. my friends are fans (to my shame) and when they went to see them they were so disappointed because they were smart enough to notice the lip-singing.

Actually, Lea Michelle is a broadway singer, and most artists don't sing live on tour. Have you ever tried to sing those high notes every day? Your voice gets so worn out, and it gets damaged. That's what happens if they try to sing live on tour. That's why Broadway artists are so commendable. But they are talented, and they have looks. Good for them. Look at their audition reels, most of them at least are very talented singers.

erm actually i do sing those notes every day because IT'S MY JOB. i don't whine about it and sing along to a track, no, i man the fuck up and deal with it. over time your voice becomes accustomed to it, unless you're on glee where it doesn't matter if you sing well or not. real broadway artist take care of their voices so they can perform to their fullest very night. i know what i'm talking about

@unopeneddoor I Completely agree. You should see Spring Awakening sometime, it's here on youtube. Out of any musical, or work, for that matter, that I've ever seen, Spring Awakening has made the biggest impact on my life. The music and the acting and the story are all flawless :)
