  • what can be done to stop this guy what an insult to all musician like us this guy has no clue what afro druming is or clave concept

  • can't believe this guy is a shame that he is able to post this forge and insult to cuban

    music what a jerk

  • Just can't believe that

  • This video is dsturbing...

  • It's like watching some twelve-year-old beginner teach you how to play drumset, especially when they're FIRST starting and they already think they know everything.

  • редкостное говнище

  • Are you kiddin? Oh my god. And again a carasca. CASCARA!!! Please stop your campaign of disinformation and buy a new set. Please.

  • The next is Alien Son clave ¬ ¬

  • With no mention or demonstration of 6/8 Afro Cuban. Hmmmm

  • ok i hear some wild mixed tones xD

maybe because don't know the music he wants to play well but i dont think that this is good

  • This must be the "Expert Village" clave...

  • THIS IS A COMPLETE INSULT TO A SOUTH AMERICAN WHO COMES FROM A COUNTRY IN WHICH YOU LISTEN TO SALSA MUSIC EVERYDAY!

PLEASE, expert village, DELETE THIS VIDEO NOW!

EVEN HE MISPRONOUNCES THE WORD "CASCARA" saying "CARASCA"

    Horrible! borren el video porfavor!

  • Facepalm

  • my sister plays better drums than this guy...

  • That guy knows how to wear a hat!

  • ......this is nothing

  • ......

  • nice hat lol

  • lol i understand very well this concepts, displacements overriding on 3 5 7 etc to the cascara clave mambo and so on....... but honestly i got confused here, lol.

  • ahahahahahaa this is priceless

  • What's Carasca? Ahahah!

This is an insult to Cuba and all the Latin Music!

    Greetings from Italy.

  • @Neroenoir CARASCA lol damn im going to cry of loling and cause i agrre with you is an insult.

  • First of all: "Afro Cuban Clave" (its more Guajira-Son clave) isn´t 3-2, it is 2-3.

And second: it isn´t "carasca" it´s a CASCARA.

  • Retard village

  • 1:50 was worth watching. I'm just left scratching my head when I see the view count.

  • lipnie brzmia te bebny

  • bra your that shit

  • literally like all of the "expert" village videos suck

  • jajajaja this man has to be in the jail of guantanamo !!!

  • @CUACHALOTE They probably use this video for psychological torture in Guantanamo. Real troublesome prisoners probably get a good dose of this guy's version of "Guantanamera"!! LOL

  • shithouse

  • Yes its true. This is not correct. That clave is not the afrocuban clave, even if its cuban.

Its called Clave de Son, or Son-Clave.

You also have Clave de Rumba or Rumba-Clave, which sometimes is called La Clave Cubana, but tha is not what he is playing here.

And yes, Corasca is incorrect, its called Cascara and it simply means "shell" as you play on the shell of the drum.

  • Did someone just say 'Carasca'? Ok. First up: It's 'Cascara', which is simply a term meaning 'shell' ie. the shell of the timbale which is what the rhythm is played on. Secondly: there are many different types of Clave. Just saying 'Afro Cuban Clave' is not only the wrong term but is also misleading. There is 3-2 Son clave, which is what is played here. But, there is also 2-3, rumba 3-2 and 2-3 and a 6/8 clave. If you are going to try and teach something through Utube, at least get it right.

  • "Carasca" for the win!

  • I prefer the churrasco instead of the carasca...

  • my god this is terrible

  • I think seeing Liza Minelli's taint would be shockingly similar to these videos. ExpertVillage Strikes again.

  • i think accidentally seeing Liza Minelli's taint is shockingly similar to these fucking videos

  • carasca hahahahahahah wow.

  • jajajajajajajaj!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i dont know whether to be more disgusted with you drumming or the style of hat you wear and how you choose to wear it...

  • After seeing a few of their videos about drumming, I'd like to think that expert village is some sick and widely misunderstood joke, but after looking into it, i'm pretty sure it's simply the travesty it appears to be :-/

  • Carasca!!!!!! LOL!!!!

  • Can someone tell Mario here that the "Afro-Cuban" clave is in 6/8, not 4/4? Send him a copy of "Afro-Cuban Rhythms For Drumset" by Frank Malabe and Bob Weiner. That'll give him nightmares about misnaming rhythms. Oh, AND it will help him correctly spell CASCARA.....lol.

  • dude.. cascara... not carasca... jesus u suck... first the thumper... now carasca

  • this is dangerously terrible

  • haha carasca....

  • This is latin jazz, afro cuban music have been around for much longer than the drum set, and clave is the root rhythm that is the back bone of the songs, the clave DOES NOT CHANGE, unless it moves from 3/2 to 2/3, or from son, to rumba, and from 4 into 6. Even if you are not playing the clave, in cuban music it is always there. until you learn how to play these rhythm's on the traditional percussion instrument you cant really understand how to play them on drum set, and your CASCARA is wrong!

  • extremely well put :) its really annoying how bad this guy is

  • you need more work son

  • jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajjajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja ajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaj aj aj aj aj ja ja ja ja ja ja jaajajajaja jajajajaja jajajajajajajajajajajaj ajajajaj ajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaj ajajajajajajajajaaaaaaaaaa

  • You have so much to learn

  • cascara., not carasca. and you didn't play it right.

  • pfftt...

  • He is absolutely correct in everything he said! I study Afro-Cuban percussion..........I thought it was a good video. He wasn't wild, or didn't do a crazy solo, but that wasn't the point. Good Job.

  • there are a few videos that expertvillage has that are pretty decent.. but this is just horrible..

  • This is fucking terrible

  • why dont you give up the drums and make your fucking bed you slob loser ..... my god , these expert village drum tutorials are absolutely horrific

  • Get your stank ass off YouTube!!!

  • ....

    jaja.

  • APESTAS TOCAS HASTA EL CULO!!!!!!!!jaaaaaaaa

  • my dog song best... il mio cane suona meglio

  • "Expert: Peter Van Dyck

Bio: Peter Van Dyck is a professional drummer and drum teacher. He received his training from Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music."

    LOL, some expert.

  • I live in the Boston area ... you cant walk anywhere around here without bumping into a Berklee grad ...they are everywhere and they are no better or worse than any of the other million musicians hanging around Boston . Berklee grads are a dime a dozen . Just because you go to Berklee does not mean you will come out sounding like Vinnie or Steve Smith or Thomas Pridgeon or Adam Deitch .... Berklee is like anything else ... you put garbage in , you get garbage out ...

  • man you really sucks!! first get decent kit and tune it right!!

  • A lot of people do that when there doing the cross stick, gives a better sound in some cases.

  • i think hes using the wrong end of the stick in his left hand!! haha EPIC FAIL!!!!

  • I don't mean to defend this lesson, but Nicko McBrain, Vinnie Paul, and many many other drummers do that.

  • Think he meant to say Cascara instead of Carasca.

  • hahahaah noooooooo i think he is serius ohhhhh my good , hahaha u really sucks

  • ...its a joke?

  • LOLZ AT HIS BASS DRUM

  • LOL HOW THE FUCK THIS IS MY ALL TIME WOST DRUM VIDEO ON THE TUBE

IVE EVER SEEN SINCE I WAS BORN

you haveno idea how much you suck do you !!!!!!!!!!!

  • u are a gayfish

  • You really shouldn't be posting tutorial videos.

  • my god... ahhhh!!!!

  • are you kidding me?

  • sounds like a baby banging on pots and pans

  • That's why it's called expert village :D

  • hilarious lol

  • interesting video... and it's not carasca it's cascara, u got it mixed up but it's all good besides that. re read ur sheet music cuz ur doing the cascara wrong and if u wanna do syncopations do it better with the cross stick instead of the ride and the cascara on the ride or cow bell. just a suggestion.

PS dont really see the afroness of what u played. but it's all good, keep it up!

  • garbage

  • This is a comedy video, right?

  • Now as to the rest of you racist critics...

this guy may need some personal study, but WHITE guys are not inherently unable to play an ethnic style of music, As a matter of fact some pasty boys do it better many of the ethnic players.

It's pure prejudiced Ignorance, and it's like saying that a black man can't polka (not that they would want to, I'm just saying...lol)

There is no doubt that it helps to grow up with the authentic influence - but "can" the white men can't do it bullshit.

  • Isn't afro cuban usually 6/8? Deary me...

  • As far as I know you´re rigth dude.

  • Deary You

Afro Cuban is an entire genre of music not a time signature, although 6/8 and more specifically 6 against 4 matrix's are common.

The are more authentic examples available.

  • Totally agree but as discussed earlier - this video is close to the son (songo) clave anyway. who cares - there are much better videos on this subject!

  • You may have gotten my point, but I don't see this concept clearly stated earlier.

it was Inferred by a few of the replies, but your comment about "usually 6/8" could lead somebody to believe that a/c music is always in some kind of 6 (or 12).

The replies discussing the 3/2 and 2/3 clave perspective are not implying that, but your statement does, which is why I weighed in.

To restate, Afro-Cuban is a fusion of styles, not restricted by a time signature, (which I believe you acknowledged).

  • A white man teaching latin drums... I've seen it all now.

  • JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA i have to agree but we have to give the kid props for using the carasca. LMAO!!!!!

  • Lolz yeah!!

  • I loved the part at 2:09

  • esto es una falta de repeto a las raices !! andar hablando que se toca asi o asa y poner videos que dicen "como tocar la afrocuba clave?? en la musica hay ke ser atrevido pero con respeto!!

  • OMG! This is freaking unbelieveble!

Can you believe this guy? Any Afro-Cuban

    here, please?

  • a carasca?????

  • the only thing good about this is the camera work.

  • this has to be a joke.

  • This is a Son Clave.

Expert Village is the online store-front for Hell itself.

Afro Cuban clave? What next, the rasta jamaican clave?

Landing in expert village is like going into a dirty rest stop bathroom.

  • finally someone who agrees with me that expert village sucks.

  • why does EVERY drum kit from expertvillage sound like shit?! lessons aren't really helpful either.

  • clearly all the money went into the camera and not lessons or an actual drumset

  • oh nooo...HORRIBLEEEEE!!!!!

  • what noooooob..........carasca......go to school guy

  • If my former afro-cuban instructor at the drummer's collective were to see this video he may just offer you a free lesson. "carasca" lol

  • This is "the best Video" I've ever seen.

  • This guy seems so high all the time it does not surprise me that he cannot pronounce things.

  • this has to be a joke no? You just said CARASCA?!! Its CASCARA!Did anyone else hear that:) Hope you don't make any DVDs :)

  • expert village sucks!

  • I've never heard Carasca. My friend you need to take some lessons

  • cascara..... oops I mean cascade take me away!

  • this is why i usually dont watch expertvillage vids

  • why is his wallet in the snare drum??

  • mmm his has looks like a pancake

  • he looks liek one of those guys dead in the titanic. isn t he Leo s best friend in the movie?. w8, no, hi isn t, he is luigi from Mario! lol

  • This is no drummer, nothing sort of a feel ( especially after waching Jojo )

  • what ?????

  • just want to give you a tip, what you are playing is called "Son" clave on the 3/2 side which can also be played on 2/3 side. the rumba clave is most commonly played on the 3/2 side the hits are on the 1,2and,4and 2,3....this can also be played on the 2/3 side which means you hit the 2,3,1,2and,4and. make sure you get your info right and not mislead people. it is important to respect traditions this music is not to be toyed around with. also the other pattern is called "cascara" not carasca.

  • Ok.. so he got the name wrong. His bad,

But isn't this music is MEANT to be toyed around with, isn't that the reason that there are so many different clave patterns? Not to mention bass and ride patterns. Its because someone toyed around with an original piece of music that you even HAVE this music.

So yeah, its meant to be toyed and experimented with.

  • you would have to be real careful with the term "Toyed around with" the clave has a set pattern and is part of the tradition people that toy around with the actual clave dont know how to play. let me clarify something, you can toy around with cincopesion when playing actual patterns in instruments this music allows freedom to open up the rhythms but the clave pattern is not is a set rhythm and it actually means "the Key" which actually opens all doors to the mysteries to unlock all instruments.

  • cascara no carasca the bass drum is not in bonbo and ponche he is not doing in traditional notation

  • This is the whitest dude ever. I'm sure he knows all about the Afro Cuban clave.

  • my thoughts exactly. he's a whole new shade of white.

  • HAHAHA

  • well ya'll full o shit... so what if he miss pronounced it... big deal! its helped me with my drumming and its good for a play along!

    nice one man

  • you can not drum at all i dont know where your from but im nine and i drum better than that.

  • why do you use so much duct tape?fuck that, let it ring as a Big Ben

  • for fucks sake... The african clave is built around Triple meter. He's playing in Duple. AND he's playing a Son Clave 3/2. African Clave is in 12/8 and is a 2/3 clave.

Go do your research before posting an "informational" video about claves.

  • I thought afro-cuban was in 6/8....?

  • 12/8 and 6/8 are one in the same.. the important think is that quarter notes are subdivided by 3. it just depends how you want to notate it really.

  • haha he said carasca waht a stupid drummer

  • cascara... cascara, not carasca!!!!

  • lol wow, at the end when hes playing he messes up at about :52

  • gaay!

  • fuck off!

  • Hey man, a real nice try, but i wanna help you out a little by giving some constructive critism.

First off, the afro-cuban beat that your playing is not really one at all. It may sound close to it, but you're missin some bass drum patterns. The clave is suppose to be 2/3 clave. You are playing the son clave, 3/2.

Second, it is pronounced Cascara. You're missing a couple hits on that.

if you'd like, you can check out my vids, hope it helps.

God bless and hope you take this in a good way.

  • your really nice but you play this stuff

  • huh?

  • i really hope that this is a joke - complete shit, really! carasca, lmao!

  • those were eighth notes, not quarters. Thanks for not explaining what a carasca is.

  • that was a joke.. complete shit

  • He is sooooo bad, afro cuban is a style, not a beat

  • carasca? wow... its called the cascada

  • actually its spelled cascara..but when you say it, it sounds like cascada

  • This is called the 3/2 son clave not, an afro cuban clave

  • DA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
