"Gary Stu" and "Mary Sue" are story-telling terms for near-perfect, goody-two-shoes characters that are hard for real life people to relate to. This is probably where Gary and Mary's names came from, since they seem to fit that description. i'm actually impressed they did that.
I wonder if people can simply not dislike a good intentioned movie. I wonder if that, through some awkward form of embarrasment or pity that they feel obligated to praise something that, while terrible, had the good intentions of the Muppets.
I saw the Muppets, I am a Muppet fan at heart, I could see the passion that went into the movie and what it was trying to do... But I felt pity and embarrasment for it.
But it was a bad movie. The Spillcrew are the only accurate reviews I've seen.
Ok. Normally I like these guys' opinion but as this review clearly shows, they're dead inside. This movie was absolutely fantastic!!! The songs were so much fun, the story was classic muppets, and the writing was hilarious!! Hats off to Jason Segel and the gang for making this perfect way to bring back the Muppets!! High high FULL PRICE!!!
@MitchConnelly I wanted to see more swedish chef, but I totally agree with you on this one. Though I have to say, the first song in the movie made me twitch a bit
Bear in mind that Muppets from Space was in fact released 12 years ago, so that is a pretty long time for the world to be muppetless. Also, it's one of my favourite muppet movies! Gonzo finds his origin to a 70's funk soundtrack? Brilliant.
I am a die hard muppets fan but honestly there are 2 movies that I just can't stand; Muppets Take Manhattan, and this turd. I was all exited for the big come back and just didn't deliver.
The state of disrepair the Muppet Theater was in had me sort of confused. Sure, the Muppets haven't made any MOVIES in a while, but aren't they and the theater running in full vigor at Disney's California Adventure? *lol*
(Huh... My spell-check doesn't see 'Muppet' as being a misspelling, but 'Muppets' IS a misspelling. Weird...)
Which Muppet do you think resembles each of us best and why? Be Gentle...wait a minute, what the fuck am i saying, GIVE ME ALL YA GOT! and make it good!
In my opinion I see Leon as Ralph( both are funky, and soulfull), Co-Host as Pepe (not because he's hispanic, but because of his mellow demeanor but always chimming in with hilarious insights and comments), and I see Cyrus as Miss Piggy (I can't pin point on why, he just seems to share some similar character attributes with her) and Korey as a cross between Kermit and Fozzie Bear. Because they're are times where he's the most straight out of the group, and other times he's the comic.
I normally agree with Spill.com's reviews but we must have been watching two totally different movies here because they gave this a rental but about a year ago they gave "Yogi Bear" a positive review. What the fuck?!
I didn't agree with Spill in this case. For me, this was easily a "Better than sex." It was such a loving film and tribute. Sure it had problems, but it was the first mainstream movie this year to actually remind me that I had a heart and emotions. It was a rollercoaster ride of nostalgia and positivity and happiness. And just on the whole the movie was well put together. It was basically all I could have asked for in a Muppet movie, or a good family movie in general.
I just can't agree with the rating here. I think it's an enthusiastic full price, but it definitely will depend on whether you actually grew up with the characters or not.
My problem with The Muppets was the cinematography. It's obvious that the movie was shot on digital. The movie did not have that cinematic feel that the previous films had. The movie looked cheap.
2 mistakes in this movie, they made the muppets the 2nd fiddle comedy relief in their own movie, you don't need humans to star in this, the protagonist should always be Kermit. other mistakes if you are going to have celebrites in this have them do something
Man I usually agree with you guys but I loved this movie and I'm surprised that you guys seem to be just kind of "meh" towards the whole thing. It was pretty much as good as a Muppet movie could be. All the classic humor was there and even if it's plot was simple, it was perfect for it.
I know a movie did it's job when there are just as many adults as there are kids in the theatre and every one of them laughed together the majority of the movie.
Maybe its just me but sometimes I wonder if the crew can sometimes can be a bit nitpicky or cynical at times on certain movies, they had the same reaction towards Super 8. They say the muppets is not that great but everywhere else I hear other people are praising it the everlasting life out of this.
this was a really good comeback for the muppets. i took my 16, (2) 14, (2) 12, and 9 year old siblings to see it last week. the 9 and 14 yr olds laughed nearly the whole movie and relized why i said i was so excited to see gonzo.
Sorry guys but this is the one I review I really disagreed with you on...not so much the rating you gave it but rather just the whole notion of wanting to see more of the moopets or muppets with guns. Reason I liked this movie is because they kept to what made the muppets fun and poked fun of this trend of late to 'modernize' things or 'make them hip', like what they did with the chipmunks or the looney tunes in space jam, and frankly I'm sick to death of that trend.
I mean, yeah it's been like what 10 years since the last movie came out. I mean, the Christmas one comes out every year so it's not like they left. Their movies always show up on Disney from time to time. If you miss that much go and by the DVD and watch them.
I usually agree with these guys, but can't do it this time. This movie was very enjoyable. It got some things wrong towards the end (wrong lyrics during Rainbow Connection, for example), but in all, it was well worth full admission price.
wow looking at the reactions to this movie is crazy, i grew up with the muppets and love them still today, but when i saw the movie it was only ok, they jokes were repeated too much until they were stale, but i did have a fun time with the movie, its just not the PERFECT move that some people say it is, those people are just in a orgasm of nostalgia
What does Kermit look like? Waka? What country you from? Waka? Waka aint no country i ever heard of. they speak English in waka? Waka? English mother fucker do you speek it? yes! Then you know what im saying! yes! Then describe what Kermit looks like. Waka? Say waka again! say waka again! I dare you! I double dare you mother fucker! say waka one more god damn time! h-he's Green.
yeah i agree with you guys, it was a good movie but it wasn't that GREAT like everyone is saying AND IM A HUGE MUPPET FAN, but i did have a fun time with it when i was there
