Childhood Bipolar

part 2....Wet her bed till she was about 8. Constantly fights with everyone in the house. She also has episodes when she is extremely affectionate towards all of us in the house. Telling us over and over again how much she loves us. Then within a half hour she may have another tantrum where she be extremely rude, and hurtful(verbally) to all of us......I have thought about getting her tested but i keep telling myself she is just a little girl with a bad temper. I don't know what to do.

My 11 year old daughter exhibits numerous systems listed but not all.....the raging temper tantrum, extreme and unnessary anxiety, seperation issues with me(doesn't like when I go out...get angry) takes out anger with me on younger and older siblings, oppose authority(mine mostly) very irritable. She has tantrums almost everyday, most times not sure what sets her off, but they can last anywhere from 5 minutes to over an hour.....has had trouble sleeping, used to have night terrors.

The genetic testing stuff is interesting - good question! Some genes have been implicated, but there is no real genetic predictor that has been empirically established so I think it is a waste of time.

What you say here about family history as a predictor of diagnosing bipolar is interesting, what are your thoughts on genetic testing?
