the guy has some good points but your forehand is not a good stroke when it comes to technique. first of all, you BARELY get under the ball and second you brush across the ball and not through it, making your ball much less heavier than it could be. the reason your feet are pointing that direction is because your pulling the shot and not stroking it cross court. also, your balance is horrible. On both strokes your weight is already transferring forward well before you make contact.
This is not a very constructive response. I have some disagreements with what you've said as well. On the forehand, the technique is not terrible. He is not hitting from an open stance, today's popular stance. The videod stroke was hit from a closed stance, so he will not be able to get under the ball as much as a closed stance. There are both benefits and disadvantages to this. Now, I will agree that the balance isn't good, primarily due to lack of the use of legs in both shots.
Also, you're saying forward momentum before making contact is bad? No, I disagree with this. I believe this is majorly dependent upon shot selection and style of player. The common notion of coaches today is to stress forward momentum, not to sit back on the ball and put junk on the ball.
haha no what i'm saying is he's transfering his weight too early, making his body come up sooner than it should. that's all. i'm all for forward movement and the trasnfer of kinetic energy through every joint to obtain the most power out of the most minimal movement.
I also think that on the forehand he could wait just a little longer to make contact so that the ball hit the most amount of string and is "carried" with the racket to increase the heaviness of the shot. in his first forehand at 2:10, he pulls off the ball REALLY quickly.
I don't disagree with forward momentum. I only disagree with kinetic movment of his energy. If the kinetic energy of his body is moving too quickly, a lot will be lost due to improper weight transfer and in his case, making contact with the ball too early, which leads to coming off the ball too early and not getting enough string to create a heavy ball.
About getting under the ball, this all depends on the positioning and footwork. If you set up poorly then of course you're not going to be in position to apply as much spin as an open stance. However, if the player is positioned properly with the path of the ball, he/she should be able to brush just as much. Hitting a short cross-angle passing shot was my specialty in both national, ITF, and college tennis. Hitting it from both stances required just as much spin.
@dura1mater no. I had enough power. 1. most people are taught to cover the line which leaves a much wider opening for the angle. with the precision I had, I was able to convert that angle into a winner almost 80-90% of the time. 2. it throws off the opponent. you go down the line a few times, then a short angle a few, then a lob. Now you have your opponent guessing what you'll be doing next the next time he/she comes to the net.
@justintzou Like I said you went to college to specialize is BS. Good decision. I wish I had the grades. Now my body is all messed up with injuries and I'm flipping burgers at your favorite joint. Good luck buddy and keep specializing. I'll be cleaning your toilets one day.
your groundstrokes suck. they are extremely mechanical, off balance, and weak. I don't know what's funnier - your technique or the fact that you paid stupid sums of money to attend bollettieri
@sukivan27 fucking negative prick, gimme a break!!! focus on yourself man and only encourage others not beat them down, that's easy and you don't need brains for it either! but to give constructive feedback, now that's an art!
@sukivan27 he's obviously going to the Bollotieri academy to try and improve his game. Sounds like he's making better use of his time than some wanker sitting on youtube talking shit when for all we know he could look like Peter Griffin.
On Federer's forehand, he often times extends his forehand out in front somewhat but NOTICE how federer quickly swings across. NOTICE HOW Federer DOES NOT extend his arm out toward the target AFTER HE MAKES CONTACT WITH THE BALL. contact point out in front is very good. But once you make contact out in front -the key then is to PULL IN AND ACROSS.
Also, notice how Federer's knees are closer to the ball than you at the end of the "final preparation stage" of the backhand. Your legs need to be positioned a little closer to the ball at the end of the takeback.
sera un gordito pero si quiere caga a bailes a todos los del circuito si se pone las pilas seria el 1º y lo sabe el mismo federer pero ese gordito no juega a nada que me la chupe
tonlars, people that don´t have a very knowledgable background can´t really make an accurate comment on stuff they know nothing about. just because your a great player doesn´t make you a great teacher. Come on over and look at my players and tell me if they can play the game. by the way not isn´t that something from the 70´s or 80´s!! flol
this just pisses me off ! is this guy talking even qualified !?? trophy position, maybe you should, you have a style in between, what the F !! probably paid big dollars for a bunch of bullshit, tips and good ones for free: change your grip( continental ) on the serve, throw it to the rightand in front a little bit, open your stance on the baseline with your forehand, you recovered fine, it´s normal when you hit like that that you recover towards the middle, bh hand is fine.
Lol nice tips (not). Everything the guy said was spot on. And by the way, the guy talking was a Division 1 tennis player making him also a qualified player with experience, not some bum.
thanks for a advice thirsten889 ;) Had the 2 years really paid off or you wish you could be there longer? I know this new kid Kei Nishikori is there for 5 years now and his good results are starting to show.but this guy is on scholarship by the IMG.
Expensive is a relative concept. That's why I said what I said if you have to ask means you can't afford it. 85 grand for some ppl is like 85 cents but obviously not for you my friend. Ppl like you would probably fight for a 10 cents discount much less paying 85k to go to tennis school.
well who knows that one day my child is extra talented, he/she could get a tennis scholarship and become a pro. Laugh if you want but ppl incl. successful sporting pros do have dreams like this..
I do wish I could afford pay 85K like that though. Would be easy and nice.
But just like they all say every dream, dream on! In todays competitive world it's hard to stick like a sore thumb no matter how talented you are. So having high hope is good but if you keep failing I'd suggest lower your expectations lol
No but that's what every rational sane human being would say. Look in youtube there are many vids showing how some parents are proud about their supposedly talented boy or girl and asking for sponsorship from big companies. I just go are you kidding me they all think their kids can become federer or sharapova someday. That's ridiculous. Some of them suck actually but that's just me be realistic with your goals if you can't achieve your highest goal then lower your expectation. That makes sense!
Don't call me your friend Pet shop Boy. By observing this trail, you've got a long way to go in terms of Public Relations and making friends.. I guess you can't afford that but you can afford 85K. Your parents must be damn proud of you but at the same time I feel sorry for them.
yea i know kei..i mean if your kei its a different story cause he was getting to the semis of grade 1 ITFs when he was like 14/15...but he is in his own group with others at his level those are the ones they pay more attention to and who really get something out of it ...thats what it seemed like to me
Wow you know kei? But the question is does he KNOW you? lol just like those kids who got his autograph each one of them will go yeah I know kei but that's the biggest bunch of crocks you know what I mean
Hey man I understand how frustrating it is for you to be poor especially these days being a trailer trash poor sucks. That being said same goes to you man, don't get pissed off and start calling ppl gay and such just because you can't afford going to Bolletieri
lol Who the hell are you man? You just butt in and start calling me names? Okay those of you who got offended and took my comments way too personally actually you're making yourself look so obvious you can't afford going to Bollettierie. You guys are probably nothing but a bunch of poor trailer trash bragging about can afford going to bollettierie lol oh god.
so what's the purpose of this video.Lol the guy here,in the serve, moves forwards, hops a little, and then when he lands in the court,he hits the ball. What the heck is that? You gotta jump into it.But don't listen to me,you got "Francisco"
Ha ha i remember doing this. No coach ever should compare to Roger its a rookie error. His hand eye cordination is the best on the planet and anyone else will not be able to copy him especially on the forehand.
Your backhand, loosen the wrist a bit and hand the racket head above the wrist to pull back like Roger. Roll the ball up, don't just lift. The forehand, I disagree, that rotation helps a lot on balls near the sideline, but your foot was pointed to the net, have it more towards the side a bit, and your follow through is tiny. The serve, I think he covered it (toss into court), but this was all too technical. Overall, the strokes are pretty good, but I don't like that he compares you to Roger.
