My mother on the other hand was a "fair weather" Christian (only going to church maybe 6 times a year) and would make me go to church with the minister and his daughters (who lived across the street) even when she was not going herself.

@IntotheRedEye My parents were divorced most of my life (they split when I was 7). My father was an atheist and a very well educated man...he instilled doubt in me at a young age. My mother on the other hand was a "fair weather" Christian (only going to church maybe 6 times a year) and would make me go to church with the minister and his daughters (who lived across the street) even when she was not going herself.
I started listening to Manson at the age of 10 (back in 1995). My father was cool

@IntotheRedEye with it. My mother on the other hand feared the teasing at school would get worse if I became a "goth" so she tried her best to get me out of it. I was bullied at school a lot for being "different" so when I started dressing "goth" the teasing just got worse. Eventually my mother did come around and started to accept me for who I am. She thought it would just be a stage, but here I am 25 yrs old now and still a "goth" girl!
Dad was always cool though.

@IntotheRedEye He always said he would rather me listen to marilyn manson then the mindless "pop" bullshit that was playing on the TV/radio. He was pretty awesome and even bought me most of my manson CDs. He even sent me to one of Manson's concerts in 1999.
My mom took me to a Manson concert in 2003/2004 (can't remember the exact year, but it was in the summer in Toronto).
