  • Anybody else notice that the turntable turned around the opposite way when Grocery Game was over? Strange!

  • How long was that $100 rule added to Grocery Game, only 2 playings I believe.

  • @nextbarker

Yep. On this episode (3rd aired), and the fifth episode (4th aired).

  • I saw on wikipedia, that the only way to show reruns of the price is right again is to Pay rights to both Fremantlemedia and CBS Corporation

  • Amazing...the contestant-row rollaway title shot was in place by the second episode.

  • The Game show network sucks now, they should show this again, (always wanted to see these)

  • Fremantle Media won't give GSN license to air the old reruns. They do, however, need to get rid of this "Whammy" crap, though, and crap like that.

  • Dorothy was on TPIR this season on 11/3/08. That episode had the first $25k winner in the showcase showdown.

  • Did anyone hear the music as Johnny was calling the contestants? It was like going in and out of sync... with itself!

  • When she said I certainly will, Bob said "I'll bet you do"! That made no sense. He meant "I bet you will"!

  • That same Dorothy came on down again on today's show (11/3/08).

  • Yeah, and I was amazed at that; it was even mentioned at SCSD2!

Pretty soon, that'll be all over the place! Good thing I recorded that episode...

  • I saw the re-run of that episode (11/3/08) today. I knew it was her. She still didn't win. I felt sad for her.

  • Ironically Dorthy won more in her first appearance 37 years ago than she did in her second.

  • Yeah, I realize that now. I forgot that she was the very first winner of The Grocery Game.

  • Also, in her second appearance, Grocery Game was also played (even though she didn't play it). Additionally, the game she played (Coming or Going) din't exist when she was on the first time. Then again, there were only 5 games during the first week, so it's understandable.

  • Bob Barker was only 48 years old when TPIR began in 1972.

  • This episodes of The New Price is Right aired on GSN, right?

  • Yes. That is why there is a GSN "bug" in the bottom-right corner.

  • Yes. That is why there is a GSN "bug" in the bottom-right corner.

  • This episode is now available on DVD "The Best of TPIR" just came out a couple weeks ago.

  • And the quality is great. Thank God! Why can't they look like that on YouTube?

  • Anyone notice the techical glitch? The last bid never showed up in the podium.

  • The audience: "Uh...so we just sit here? Should we clap or...no? Alright."

  • Man, how the prices have changed! That 39 cent can of soup back in 1971 (72?)is now $2 on the coast.

  • hahaha...so are U !!

  • cotton doesn't go in to bales

  • yes, cotton does go into bales

  • This is great! Thanks for the post...before my time and never would have seen this otherwise.

  • if that bbq cost $400 Dollors back then, Imagine how much it would cost today.

  • Say, did you edit this yourself?
