I don't know what exactly it sounds like that I've ever heard before. I can't put my finger on it. But it's unbelievably catchy and definitely has me going "woo ooh". It's sticking like honey :)
ok ya i can def hear a bowie sound. but this-it sounds pretty bad. really, they should have taken out the background music and just sat down at an old style piano. then they could have banged out as hard as they wanted to play the song in its entirety. the chorus could still have been done by others in the background w/the same intensity. this song is odd, and i think the normal mainstream applications to it were wrong for it. the song needed different instruments to mirror the oddness of it.
@lilwing80 there is a very big difference between evolving (musically) and sounding like shit. The Beatles shouldnt even be put into the same thought as Silverchair.
even if its poppy that riff kicks ass they can all still play their instruments if he just turned the drive up on that bitch and sang a little angrier (which i think is the issue why the dont write the songs they used to daniel doesnt sing any old songs the way he used to for the most part) we may have something i think music needs it to
Funny. I thought bands could change their sound if they wanted to.
I love this album anyway, but then again I have a quite an eclectic taste. I like bands, not genres. And people who think bands can't adapt or try something a little bit different should just switch it off - no one is holding a gun to your head. There's point being in uproar, making snippy comments. The band does what it wants regardless of your negativity
Funny, Silverchair started out as some awesome grunge, then the lead started dating Natalie Imbruglia, she went Yoko Ono on them, they turned to a pop ditzy band, they break up, this is the first single since... seems like they're just starting to realise they'd been taken off their course of awesome
I agree, this is pretty good music. I just think it should've been released under a different name, b/c its not silverchair @ all. Again, its creative and good to listen to.
@nobadwriting1 a band can't change their sound and evolve? What...would you want the beatles to change their name because they ended up sounding nothing like the way they started off sounding? LMAO
early silverchair's sound feels like nirvana, but this song's riff remind me of pearl jam's do the evolution and in utero's nirvana. I think silverchair is so underrated band. this band is better than this day's bands. also young now. hope they show another great stuff again. so amazy album : young modern!!!
lame

I agree. The way he lets loose at the end is reminiscient of Paul McCartney in "Hey Jude."
