Probably the easiest way to tell the difference is that the AV-8A has the wing landing gear near the tips of the wings. The AV-8B has the gear near the center of the wings.

Further more to that comment they were made under licence from BRITISH aerospace to hawker sideley. Also many of these aircraft are not actually av8b harriers about 80 percent of the craft you see on the british carriers in this video are actually sea harrier FA2's

well we already are testing them out on diffrent flight decks. for exaple you have amphibious deck like mine lha-5 they have to test to see how much time it takes to take of since our deck is 20 feet shorter than a (lhd). there no catapult so it vertical landing and special mods are made for it.
