  • Joan, I had a TAH/BSO on January 23, 2004. Ovarian Cancer was suspected, but not found. I'm so thankful that your daughter will be there to take care of you after surgery. I applaud you for making this video. Honey, You are in my prayers. God bless you. The website Hystersisters dot com has many supportive women on there. Hugs,~Marilyn

  • Moral of the story: If you think something is wrong, insist on more tests, especially if you aren't known for being a hypochondriac. You know your body more than any doctor.

My mother had sudden back problems and insisted on being checked for blood clots in her lungs. The doctor didn't believe her, but because of her persistence, the doctor sent her to the emergency room (possibly to "shut her up") only to find out that she was right.

I doubt she would be alive today if she just went home.

  • Hi Joanie, I am glad you said something. Yes, it is very scary.

And the waiting can be pure torture. I have been in a similar situation. I had a hyst at 35 due to possible uterine cancer.

Been thru the multiple d&c's as well as uterine biopsies.

I do know one thing. You can do this! It will take time; but you can do this. If you want to talk just let me know. You are not alone in this.

  • aw, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so sorry that you had to go through this, too. Thank you for being there*

  • Thank you so much, Rebecca, that means a lot, I will look up that Psalm.

  • I just found out I have Lymphoma. I feel your pain so deep that I'm crying with you. I haven't had enough courage to go into this much detail about my cancer on YouTube. I admire your courage and you are in my prayers. You aren't alone in this fight.

    Sending my love to you.

    (((Hugs))) to you...

    Paula

  • ({hugs}}Paula,

    Love And Light

    Cheryl

  • Cheryl,

Wow, I would love to know more of your story, I subscribed to you.

    Joanie

  • Hi, Joan, I just posted a video response here as I promised earlier today. You are truly an inspiration. Thanks.

  • I don't see your video response yet...

  • I had to remove it - wrong version - new one is posting now and I'll again post the response. Sorry for the inconvenience. I actually had three comments that I lost and the video was on there only a few minutes. The new one is the edited version (same content) and twice louder.

  • I saw it, loved it and responded. Thank you so much. Maybe we can journal our stooories together.

  • Blessings, Nice smile....don't lose faith.

    Peace

  • Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot to me.

  • I must confess, I came here because of Beth mentioning you on her channel. I watched the whole video and this touched me. I hope it helps to know that there are lots of us YouTubers out here(who don't even know you) that will be thinking of you and praying for you. Take care.

  • Aw, thank you so much, it means more than you know. This YouTube community has touched me deeply. I am humbled.

  • I'm so glad you decided to talk to everyone about this. I hope it makes you feel better, gives you more courage to fight the monster - you're brave and I'm proud of you. I know you will do well, I love you, and I wish I could be there to help.

  • Dianna, You are here, in my living room in this little box every day. And I thank you for being here. You are also in my heart.

  • I had a liver biopsy and it hurt for more than two weeks and my guts still feel a little raw from it. Wow. Your video may encourage me to perhaps reveal my own medical nightmare. I'm glad you did this for me and other people who hide behind their diseases or illness or what ailment or disability they suffer, but maybe sharing it with others will help others who suffer the same. By God, I think I will do it. And you are in my prayers, Joan, and please pray for me too.

  • I will pray for you, too, we can get through this together, I am subscribing to you right now.

    Hugs & more hugs.

  • How very brave of you to do this Joanie! It just proves how strong you are. Believe you can lick this Sweetie and you will! My prayers are with you and your family, I know how scary it is for them as well as you. Do keep us posted on how you are feeling. Sends Love and Hugs~Spamble

  • Oh Joan I'm so sorry to hear your news.Try to stay positive. And you will be in my prayers.

I can't imagine what you must be going through.

The not knowing has got to be the hardest part.

Cuz if you know at least you can start dealing with it.

  • Cindy, Thank you -- I think the hardest part is knowing its in there, wondering if its spreading, and having to wait until the dr. gets back on April 25th.

    Thanks, sweetie,

    Joanie

  • keeping you in my thoughts and in my prayers. ((hugs))

  • Thank you, Scott, that means a lot, and I'll take any hug I can get right now :-)

    Joanie

  • Oh Joan!!!!!!!! You can count on my prayers, hun. I started praying before the video was even done. I wish I could give hugs in person, but know I'm hugging you through the computer and sending my best thoughts your way. I know you'll be just fine!

  • Thank you so much, I need all the hugs and prayers I can get :-)

  • Thanks, Ricki, you are an inspiration!

  • I think everything is okay, I mean, is it not always one day at a time? You get this first thing taken care of, then you go from there. "cross that bridge when you get to it"

  • That's exactly how I plan to do it, Harry, one day at a time, one step at a time. thanks*

  • I am glad you decided to share this with us. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad that your daughter is able to come out and be there with you. (((HUGS)))

  • Oh boy, I needed those hugs. Thank you so much.

  • Thank you, darlin, I'd love to talk to you, I am always up until at least 2am, so call anytime, I keep missing you!

  • That word 'cancer' is a scary word. It sounds as though you are in good hands with your doctors, and I am glad your daughter will be with you. It is important to have someone there to help you through this. YOu also have us. Yes, we are friends even though it is through the internet. As you say, you are tough! I will be thinking of you... -roc

  • Thank you, Roc, yes, I am blessed with a wonderful doctor and an incredible, unselfish daughter. I appreciate knowing you guys are all rooting for me, too! Thank you*

  • Don't be scared, pray. My thoughts will be with you.

  • I'm trying to be tough and not be scared, and I am definitely praying for me and for everyone whose body is invaded by this monster. Thank you, sweetie.

  • Thanks! I'm not a Christian myself.

I had a NDE when I was 6! That world opened to me and it was just great!

I met some old friends that said: Go back into life! You are far to young! We just seperated!

All I can say is don't fear! I really felt so much love in that short moment. I think you're getting through this and for sure I hope you live some years, but even when it goes wrong, know that we are always there!

Oh, I had to put all religion away after this.

    It just seemed so childish.

  • Wow. That had to be amazing. It's comforting to know that there is love and it feels good, do you think there is an afterlife?

  • I know there must be. My friends blocked the way so there has to be more. I recognized them and not on appearence but for who they were/are. You might declare me mad but they looked like spinning Cristmas-tree bulbs. Shining all coloured emorions from withing. I guess their bodys were not that important anymore. It was like meeting from soul to soul. I instantly knew I was with them once. All four of them 'told' me it wasn't my time yet. Floating back I saw a silver string that lead to my body.

  • Wow, that is amazing!

  • Joanie - Thank you for opening up and sharing. I hope that alone helped you in some way. You will be in all my prayers. I know I don't know you in real life, but there is just something about you that makes me care so much about you. I'm glad your daughter can be there to help you through everything. Take care!

    Janice

  • Janice, What a sweet thing to say. And yes, it did help me to open up...especially to my wonderful YouTube family. Thank you.

  • Hi honey, as you know-my sister went through this. They did no less than 20 biopsies. She had a full hysterectomy. She actually sneaked a day back at work on the 2nd week. She found out day before yesterday that she has stage 1A ovarian cancer-and will receive 6 months of chemo. YOU are going to make it too. It's very scary-BUT you have all of us and some HOPE. Let me know if you want some links-to message boards and stuff. You can meet others too. Much Love!
