  • Cool Vid man! Thanks brother!

  • Please make a video of the forge in action : )

  • got a title for that trailer your scrappin? i need one

  • @44coonhunter no I would give it to you if I did I have had that thing for years it was setting in the woods when I bought my property

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly Thanks for the reply back. i was only half serious though. im sure y the forge the transfer and that would be a pain. thanks anyway. i am going to copy your forge design though. thank.

  • make sure that these parts arnt galvonized, shit will kill you,let it all burn off first before you use it

  • @MrCaptainNObeard Yea I am going to change them. They never really get that hot though, but to be on the safe side I will change them out.

  • i can find tubing form my brake drum! :(

  • One great thing that works good as a stand is an old saw horse stand without the wood in it. That's what i have mine sitting in. Just a cool quick fact there for ya. :)

  • @68Bigsixdeer yea thats a good idea! I now have mine set in a 35 gallon barrel I cut the top out of the barrel and cut a window in the side for the pipe.

  • Wow, so simple and easy, i have all that stuff in my garage and for years have wanted to build a forge...thanks for the great idea!

  • @Turok7373 Yea you can make one in no time and it really works great.

  • how hot can u get that thing ???

  • Nice what kind of wood or coals are u using?

  • @slip23us I have been using oak. I have been trying to get some coal but I haven't been able to find any.

  • nice forge , check mine out.

  • @MIGUELch8 Thanks

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly all you need now is just to make a table for it

  • @MIGUELch8 I made a nice stand for it out of a 35 gallon drum.

  • Thats the way we do it in the South. Also if you sound like Gump, then I do too and proud of it.Ill bet we sound different in person.I think thats a good forge.Dont make no difference what it looks like or costs as long as it works. GOOD JOB!!

  • @717sport Yea I am proud to be a Hillbilly, will I better be PC "Appalachian American"

  • holy shit man, little warning about the drilling part would have been nice... now that i need hearing aids....

  • @squat224 Yea it is a little loud sorry about that.

  • Didn't the bolts around the center hole melt after a while?

  • @swedishhunter21 no it never gets that hot.

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly so you can't bring the forge up to a welding heat??

  • @swedishhunter21 yea you can bring it up to welding heat if you put the bolt by its self in the forge it will bring it up to welding temp., but the bolt that hold the flang to the drum will not get as hot because of "convection" heat transfer to the mass of the drum.

  • if your'e concerned about zinc fumes (or even lead fumes),why not use an air-supplied respired respirator when working with suspect metals ? I sometimes work with a flux wire-welder,and they don't say what's in the flux,so I don't take any chances...onagrou

  • Yea I know I noticed I was saying that when I was getting it ready to put on Youtube it wasn't worth doing the video again to change it.

  • its not a HUB! lol.... its a brake drum, just for future reference

  • @73truthseeker Thanks, let me know how your forge turns out when you get it done.

  • R.I.P Headphone users

  • @recommendme Hahahaha sorry about that recommendme....

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly haha its ok, i like ur work on here, very genius ways of doing stuff without even using much money

  • I will try to do some more videos this Fall & Winter I am goung to set up a "shed" type work aera.

  • looks great, thanks for the info. Have you used it yet?

  • @scottiblasto Yes I have used it. It works great I just found a anvil today so I will be using it even more (as soon as the hot weather ends)

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly Would be great if you posted some videos, but I should check your channel to make sure you haven't yet. Great work though. I have been planning to make one for some time now.

  • If there isn't coal or coke around to use whats the best alternative?

  • @ILoveToKickShit charcoal

  • what that deal sticking out that looks kinda like a big blue tampon??

  • @catman63879 Haha Catman that is a hair dryer it is the forced air part of the forge I bought that one at a second hand store for $2.00.

  • The local hardware store probably thought he was gonna make a pipe bomb!

  • cool forge ,

  • Made one of these about 20yr ago. A cheap and easy to build starter forge to see if you like blacksmithing.

  • @LameWolff Yes you hit the nail on the head! I wanted something to make a few saw blade knives, and a couple other items but didn't want to spend much money.

  • hey bud, your fittings look galvanized. Make sure they are not, or the fumes they let off will put you in a world of hurt

  • @davepen16 Thanks Davepen for the heads up the pipe does not get hot at all but I changed it to be on the safe side! Thanks again for the input..

  • @davepen16 the fittings being galvanized make no diff. There will be no heat in this area of the forge.

  • @LameWolff Heat travels bud and if it gets hot enough to send even a bit of zinc into the air youre breathing- thats all she wrote. Better safe then sorry.

  • @davepen16 i was actually about to say the same thing. but i was also wondering, what can be used? i was told before " use black iron because galvanized pipes release toxins when heated" but i was wondering what else could be used. Is it anything thats not galvanized or is it more complicated than that?

  • @HDJ500 If the metal has paint on it or an anti-corrsion coating, I would get rid of that first. Grind off the paint and wipe off as much of the anti-rust (kind of like oil) you can. I made the mistake of not doing that when forging a steel panted pipe for a sculpture, and the fumes were not good. And for those who say that the heat doesn't reach the pripes, so you can used galvanized, I say better safe then sorry, you only have one pair of lunges and one brain, and zinc poisoning does KILL

  • @davepen16 thank you so much. so if it's coated or painted just grind that crap off?

  • @HDJ500 Ya , I would

  • @davepen16 ok thanks

  • Yeah, nice Flecktarn pattern trousers

  • Lol.. And now drilll. Eeerrrggggggg... Finished !.

  • If there is every some sort of extinction level event (asteroid, nuclear war, etc) it's going to be guys like this that will survive and rebuild society.

  • lol I like your bracelet I made one but I let someone have it.

  • AHHHH Sounds like forrest gump. PLEASE SAY "i love you jenny!""

  • @XANDERXXZ Thats the first time anyone has said I talk like gump, but I guess I do sound like him a little. The only difference his accent was fake I'am a real Hillbilly.

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly Haha, dont get me wrong, it is an awsome accent, and great video too, nice to see somthing usefull on youtube

  • good video, thanks for posting

  • wow, drilling cast iron hurts my ears

  • @MrThahey .. I am sorry about that MrThahey....

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly yea; I tried it at home and there was a loud screeching sound; I didn't know it would be as bad as it was in the video.

The forge works like a charm, though, Thank you.

  • how do you spell the "tee"

  • @aznguy11111 I guess if you talking golf terms it's "Tee", if you talking about a English drink it's "Tea", and if your talking pipe and pipe fittings it is simply "T".

  • @TheHarleyhillbilly Tea is a drink from India, or China. We just drink it in England from the days when we owned those countries.

  • very cool. I will be making one.

  • great tutorial. thanks for posting!

  • yes about the galvanized pipe try the paw paw wilson vid

  • excellent, informative, best tutorial type so far. Thanks

  • great video ,cool forge

  • i hope your pipes and fittings aren`t galvanized man, they let off lead gas that is very fatal. it looks like galvanized to me, so for your health and safety, try iron or black steel.

  • All I could find in black steel was 1" I plain to change them as soon as I can find iron or steel actually you can touch the pipe even after running the forge for half an hour the flage my get a little hot but you are right I will change them to be on the safe side.

  • @staygoldart it does not let off lead gas. its the zinc thats in the fume, if you breath enough of it, it will give you flu like symptoms, which drink milk helps. I'm sure over time of breathing it will harm you, but your body gets rid zinc naturally. after awhile though, the galvanize will burn off. you could try putting those parts in a fire to burn them off before using them. I'm no expert on galvanized metal but I do weld alot of it.

  • Great vid! That's one more project for the list!

  • Awesome!
