@theoriginalDEVILSLAP: No, but that is a good question. Both of the original Machinima trailers ("Ashes to Ashes", and "Dust to Dust") say "Brothers To The End". :-)
Well played. I was expecting some Metal song being overlaid and totally ruining the emotional impact and theme of the trailer.
The opening title transitions didn't give me any inclination to the contrary (my only criticism, if you'd like specific feedback, I'd be happy to give it. This also applies to the end slates you inserted as well)
However, what I got was extremely well done foley work and a different piece of subtle orchestral backing music. It was convincingly well timed and true to
@KnucklesDawson: Thank you for the kind words! When I remixed the "Ashes to Ashes" trailer, I already knew I wanted to use Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" because it fit the tempo and mood of the video in the trailer. With this video, I knew I could find something to match the despair, perhaps even more so than the Mazzy Star song (great choice), but I just didn't know what I was going to use.
@KnucklesDawson: While going through my 90 gig music database, I decided to try going through my list of soundtracks and scoring instead of regular music to see if an absence of vocals could further disconnect the audience from any sense of hope. I guess it did. :-) I left out the introduction of the song, and the transition from the piano driven portion of the song with the violin-driven portion, but I got lucky that they still blended together.
@KnucklesDawson: Again, thanks for the compliments and by all means please tell me how I can improve the video if you see anything that needs fixing. I want to make a good project that everyone likes, not just me. Also, keep in mind I am using Windows Movie Maker (Free software), Audacity (free software), Painshop Pro 4 and Microsoft Paint. With all the money I spend on things like legitimate music and videogames, I don't have much left over for nice production software. :-(
@TheSwayzeTrain: Yup, great show! Sorry, I have all the video info posted up on the new version I have on my channel, I deleted all the info on this one because I didn't think anyone would bother watching it with the new one up.
@tagratz: Why not? I had to come up with all of the sounds from scratch (since there were none in the original video), and what game has better gun sound effects than the true-to-life sound effects from BF3?
@tagratz: I doubt it, they are most likely either PC high def rendering or PS3 pics but you never know. Us Xbox360 guys can only hope that the final product is as good looking as these pictures! You might have to log into FaceBook to see these pics: FaceBook dot com slash Battlefield
PS- Thanks for the like and subscribe my friend! :-)
**UPDATE: My improved version of this vid is complete, as is the version with sound FX but without the music (for anyone that wants it, I'll send you the .wmv file just send your request to: faerodyn@gmail.com New video will be uploaded sometime on or just after the 12th (when my internet gets fixed! :-( ). Also, a revised version of my "Ashes to Ashes" vid!
Also: when I am done with the revised video, I plan on also publishing a copy without music so that any of you can score the piece however you would like. If anyone is interested, send me a request at: faerodyn@gmail.com and I will send you the .wmv file. The internet at my house is down right now (I am using my cellphone to log in and respond) but it should be back up soon. I'll send the file to anyone who wants it as soon as my internet is back up. :-)
@infectedflinch : Thank you kindly, my friend! Yes, those slides need work! I am actually in the process of tweaking them so they look more professional and not so n00b-ish. Also, I am making just a few minor changes to the audio track (certain sounds were drowned out in the layering process) so hopefully the new version will be more up-to-par with what you would expect a professional Gears of War video to look like.
@yankeessuck193: My apologies, I forgot to post the song info. The title of the track is "The Funeral", from the soundtrack for the US TV show "Firefly" by Joss Whedon. It played during a scene of the funeral of one of the main characters' war buddy.
@TeliPhonez : Hey, thanks for the compliment my friend! :-D And that you for the helpful criticisms/tips, they always help me to improve my projects when publishing the final product. I'll have to tinker around with the dimensions of the "Brothers To The End" slide to eliminate those pesky render bars.
@TeliPhonez : As for the fonts, I think the reason it doesn't look as good as it should it because I am using Microsoft Paint and Windows Movie Maker. Freeware usually always sucks, but it's all I can afford at the moment. :-( Again, thanks for the compliment!
