BTP- Warhammer Primer

Please do a 40K primer, basics on how to play and get started with the black reach set. and some good starting points to turn the black reach set into two 1000 pt. armies. We will most likely end up with 2 black reach sets. BTP is the best Warhammer channel....!!!!!!

I painted and played a bit (tiny bit) of 40k Space MArines as a kid. Now I want to paint some Fantasy stuff to play against some friend I may get to have the patience for it once in a blue moon. This will give me an excuse to own the rulebook, which is just plain cool ro read- as its much more than a rulebook. I'm really thinking of doing some High Elves and either the vamps or egyptian looking race just to have those killer looking models. I used to have a generic little skeleton army I painted

I liked 40k more than fantasy, and always thought fantasy would be easier to play and a little bit boring. I was wrong. I now enjoy fantasy more than 40k. I always did like the Skaven though. Why must people argue over which one is better? They're both amazing and fun to play and collect.

40k dudes looked like a dumn mock of sci-fi weapons (they ckung to swords and orks and stuff) realy..... no1 will use a sword if u gots a massive gun in ure other hand............. fantasy is the only way to go

my problem with warhammer fantasy is that it's 'fantasy'. I really don't get into 'swords and sorcery', I just think dwarves, goblins, elves and the like are just too corny. The old 'sword swinging hero' archetype just doesn't interest me. Also, a lot of Fantasy players I know are crying about the imbalance between armies now with the new codex releases. Just build a reasonable chaos warriors army and no one's beating you, unless the dice gods abandon you and you roll all 1's. Gimme 40k!

man i like fantasy, its rules arre more static, but slower, you can expect more routs from table then fights to the death. but man i really cant decied on an armoy to play, i got a skull pass set to L2P and now i dont like eith orks or dwarfs :( need to get rid of them for money and buy some beastmen or darkelfs....

I don't know which game is better because I don't know the rules for either, but I think most people find the 40K story is better.

yeah it just seems like 40k is the "superior" game from games workshop, then comes fantasy, then comes LOTR.

I've heard that 40K takes the back seat in Europe. There's also critical mass to consider; if enough people play a game, it tends to attract more followers. 40K is definitely the simpler game. Anyway, just expressing my opinion.

ah i forgot about europe, ive heard that fantasy is more popular over there, and even lotr is a bit higher population than here as well.

i think you're right, 40k seems to have higher mass due to its simplicity, and large numbers of players

I would LOVE to start Fantasy, but theres one problem, I would have no one to play against! All my friends are 40k fans. But I am trying to "convert" them a bit to Fantasy XD.

What always makes me laugh is the "40K is better" or "Fantasy is better" arguements. They're both REALLY good fun they just achieve that in different ways.

Hope to seem more Fantasy stuff from BTP. I've collected a load of Orcs & Goblin but am now just beginining a High Elves force. Gotta love Always Strike First. It's my new best friend :D

I just discovered WHF about 2 years ago, (can't believe I went 40+ years without hearing about Warhammer!). Walked into a local new game shop in New Jersey and fell in love with the 40K models, but the simplistic rules for it are pretty much a deal breaker for me. SO I play O&G and just recently Skaven. This is my long winded way of saying,... MORE FANTASY!! hehe :^)

Well technically it is a TBS (Turn Based Stragety) but pretty much the same minus resource gathering and building :)

Actually You would probably love Warhammer Mark of Chaos which basically is the "real time" version of Warhammer.

It's about freakin time someone did something about fantasy. I never really did get into playing either of them, but of the 2, fantasy was definately my fave....unfortunately, everyone around here played 40K. Oh well, fantasy's still a great game though.
