Tough schedule or not, Auburn was rescued from getting slaughtered by USC...but you don't have to worry about that anymore...you only have to worry about Nick Saban...good luck but you will fail.
Yea SMW im sure you were the one saying Ohio would beat the shit out of Florida too and they didnt. Auburn had a chance to beat USC, now im not saying they would of won it but they had a better shot at it that Oklahoma. What ranked team did USC play all year? NONE until the BCS game. Auburn barely beat LSU yea thats right, but LSU had like a #1 defense that year and plus we were at their stadium. Lets see Alabama do that shit.

Why wouldn't I pull for a SEC team to win the national title? Of course I thought Florida could beat OSU. Looking at it logically and all bias aside, I just don't think Auburn could have won it all that year. They have a good coach but he hasn't been able to make it happen. He has been recruiting very well but he can't even get the SEC title consistently...you will see Bama do alot just wait.
Okay then, lets talk about the past...1957 was a good year: Eisenhower was inaugurated for his second term as president, the Dodgers were about leave Brooklyn for Los Angeles and auburn won their last National Championship in football. If Bama had stopped playing football 25 years ago, auburn would still never ever catch up with the championships that Bama has.

They gave their all or else their coach didn't do his job. It is the coach's job to have his players ready to play their best game week in and week out. Auburn had their chance. Tommy did his best and he and the Tigers did a good job. Good, but not good enough to finish #1. Auburns' time has past...their wins over Bama and the few SEC titles they won will always be their claim to fame like Bamas claim is the 12 National Championships.
I'm not sayin' their coach didn't prepare them. But from a players viewpoint they knew they should be playing for something more. Auburn was undefeated in the toughest conference in the the nation and deserved to play for the National Championship.

Of course going undefeated in the SEC isn't easy and I am not saying they shouldn't have went and gave it a shot. What I am saying is I don't think they would have won. Also I think Auburn had their chance regardless that maybe they got a raw deal. I don't think they will ever win a National Championship.
you never know in todays football world. we still have our chances like everyone else does. the sec is at an all time high with 1 and 2 loss teams making it to the bcs championship so all it will take is a good season and a little bit of luck! WAR EAGLE BABY!
What are you, a damn alabama fan? You don't know what you're talking about. Auburn has a breakout season at least once a decade (undefeated 2004, undefeated 1993, 11-1 in 1983 when no one was undefeated, 10-1 in 1972) -- we'll get our title before long.

Congrats to that senior class on an undefeated season! There's no question they got screwed out of the BCS title game!
GoBlueMidwest84 5 years ago
Not screwed, saved. Saved from getting embarassed as they only barely beat the number 7 team in that year in their bowl game...
