Dude, my honda had a longer warranty than my mom's Ford by three full years. Also, my Honda has 322,796 miles on it, and the Ford has 97,000, and runs worse. If you bought a used ferrari, you'd put so much money into the thing you'd be living in a box within a month, whereas I could get 350hp out of my Honda with $4000. @zorrlander I'm getting 40 mpg in my non VTEC, single cam, 90 civic and beating V8's. Check out CRX vs. Lambo. The CRX walks the lambo twice with no problem. I like V8's but it's more fun taking half the motor and power and consistently walking V8's on their homeland... the Strip.

Hell i dont even know if the civic uses MAP or MAF - i was just trying to clear up something that was wrong. (the comment about the stock MAP compensating for the extra air - it doesnt care about air, just pressure :) )
it's not about extra air, it's do with air pressure. MAP is a pressure sensor, not an airflow sensor. What has 100mph got to do with anything? What do YOU think happens at 100mph? Unless the car has some clever ramair setup, then you are still not going to get above atmospheric pressure.

Heres the last thing I will say jackass. Boost is a measure of excess pressure not a measure of airflow, that is realative to many things, including temperature and intake and exhaust flow. If the motor flows well and temp is low, it may have less boost, but still a ton of CFM's. That air flow will still cause the need for for added fuel. All the factors of injectors, fuel mapping, fuel octane, etc. all factor in whether it can be handled or not.

Obviously u dont have much experience with boosted cars because 1psi of difference can melt a piston depending on tune you F-ing moron, Ive seen Lightning motors come apart by adding a cold air intake and no tune so STFU
so if you went to the dead sea, which is 1300 feet under sea level, and 15.5 psi atmospheric level... would be the same as about .9psi of boost... would cause your cars engine to lean out and blow....
and the worlds highest road is at 17,000 feet... in that case the car would run so rich at the 6.4ish less psi atmosphere that it would be constantly flooded....

I thought cars put cold air intakes on for a cooler intake air temp, hence the name, cold air intake. Ram air is for a higher pressure air feed at higher speeds. If the air isnt directed into the intake, via a hood scoop or those lame fake intercooler looking intakes, the speed shouldnt make much difference on intake air pressure being fed into the intake.

yeah especially since its an older car. probably running lean, and if it can the ecu is probably pulling back the timing. but the MAF sensor should be keeping the ratio as close to normal as possible.

As for going other directions, You dont make any sense, mine steers fine, and as for the jeep i have it can go in any direction, even up, lol. As for the parts to fix them, dirt cheap and strong. As for money, I have very little, I just know what the value of quality is, if you buy quality you dont have to buy again and again, and service is affordable, not only that, I do all my own work accept for the transmission. Dude, my honda had a longer warranty than my mom's Ford by three full years. Also, my Honda has 322,796 miles on it, and the Ford has 97,000, and runs worse. If you bought a used ferrari, you'd put so much money into the thing you'd be living in a box within a month, whereas I could get 350hp out of my Honda with $4000. I agree that v8's have more potential, but your comment did not make sense. Way to use an Italian company in an American argument, btw. Makes our country look really good.

@zorrlander I'm getting 40 mpg in my non VTEC, single cam, 90 civic and beating V8's. Check out CRX vs. Lambo. The CRX walks the lambo twice with no problem. I like V8's but it's more fun taking half the motor and power and consistently walking V8's on their homeland... the Strip.

oh i'm not saying it wouldn't, weather the MAP can read it properly or not is not going to change the fact theres extra air going in there and it'll chuck as much fuel in as it would at WOT. Hell i dont even know if the civic uses MAP or MAF - i was just trying to clear up something that was wrong. (the comment about the stock MAP compensating for the extra air - it doesnt care about air, just pressure :) )

it's not about extra air, it's do with air pressure. MAP is a pressure sensor, not an airflow sensor. What has 100mph got to do with anything? What do YOU think happens at 100mph? Unless the car has some clever ramair setup, then you are still not going to get above atmospheric pressure.

Heres the last thing I will say jackass. Boost is a measure of excess pressure not a measure of airflow, that is realative to many things, including temperature and intake and exhaust flow. If the motor flows well and temp is low, it may have less boost, but still a ton of CFM's. That air flow will still cause the need for for added fuel. All the factors of injectors, fuel mapping, fuel octane, etc. all factor in whether it can be handled or not.

so if you went to the dead sea, which is 1300 feet under sea level, and 15.5 psi atmospheric level... would be the same as about .9psi of boost... would cause your cars engine to lean out and blow....
and the worlds highest road is at 17,000 feet... in that case the car would run so rich at the 6.4ish less psi atmosphere that it would be constantly flooded....
ive gotta keep that in mind...

AND it will only adjust for a certain amount of air w/o tuning, a stock MAP sensor and stock fuel map wont adjust for enough for boost, its called running lean and melting pistons DETONATION! Probably too cheap to own a wideband too! If it was that easy people would bolt on turbos and be done with it, no tuning needed

Since I am such a dumbass, someone please tell me how this Civic has a MAF and how it is not pegging out at 5V cutting fuel and going lean if it has a MAF. It obviously came with a MAP from the factory, and Im sure you can get aftermarket computer systems to run a MAF, but with all the money that would cost, I doubt theyd be running a leaf blower on the car. AND with that much extra air, is it specially tuned for the leafblower so it doesnt peg out? I guess Im retarded, I dont know

I thought cars put cold air intakes on for a cooler intake air temp, hence the name, cold air intake. Ram air is for a higher pressure air feed at higher speeds. If the air isnt directed into the intake, via a hood scoop or those lame fake intercooler looking intakes, the speed shouldnt make much difference on intake air pressure being fed into the intake.

yeah especially since its an older car. probably running lean, and if it can the ecu is probably pulling back the timing. but the MAF sensor should be keeping the ratio as close to normal as possible.
