Die Lokomotiven der GM-Tochter EMD sind gerade dabei die Baureihen 217, 225 und die Ludmillas aus dem Bw Mühldorf /Obb. zu verdrängen. Schade um diese schönen alten Loks (20.10.2011).
if the germans like these boring characterless engines then they are welcome to them, we have plenty more in the uk that nobody would be sad to see disappear!
Now you lot in the UK and Europe know what we go through here in the States. Same locos, different paint schemes. Union Pacific, Burlington Northern/Santa Fe, and Norfolk Southern, CSX. No variety at all.
Interesting that Class 66s are working in Germany. What do the crews think of them..? I don't think British drivers like them very much. {Too noisy in the cab, horrible cab seat etc}.
I second that Fastkay, I have lost all interest in modern railways since the passing of the great British locos you mention. I have absolutely no interest in these boring ying yings or any other trains running around on our railways currently. A locomotive that's not built to a standard, like locos of old but built down to a cost, a one size fits all loco to be exported across Europe.
I agree with MisterScania. Our kids won't celebrate our old trains. For them, Today's new trains will be the "good old trains" when, once, they will be grown.
They're actually a good reliable motor, and yes ok they may not have the classic character of a 37 or 47 or whatever, but you have to move with the times and appreciate the modern stuff as well. Look at when the old diesel electrics came in and people hated them because they weren't steam. The world moves on and so does mechinery.
and where is the "nice sound"? :-(

FRIGGING DISGUSTING SHITE, RUBBISH.
Please, the only time one of these sounds good is when it collides on full throttle with a voyager doing 125.

They're partially built in the USA (E-Locker & Engine) built in LaGrange, IL. Final assembly is completed in London, ON.

No, that´s not correct. They´re Canadian-built (London/Ontario), by EMD.

probably i only ever see these pulling freight
Pur3p0w3r06 4 years ago
Don't quite think so:
250 for EWS
120 for Freightliner (possibly more on order)
30 for DRS (rounded again)
30 for GBRf (rounded)
= Maximum of 430 (more on order)
