  • It's voodoo child you noobs.......sad ppl

  • @TheScythemaster

    It's Voodoo Chile all right

  • @TheScythemaster

In 1984 SRV recorded this song as Voodoo ChilE (Slight Return). On Hendrix's album the title of the same song was given as "Child" due to a mistake. There's a lot said and written about that

  • I love how he gets into his music. Nobody can do it like Stevie!

  • @17musicluv He doesn't get into the music. He is the music. It flows through him and out of his hands like water through a stream. A pure channel connected to an uninterupted flow of blues. RIP Stevie,We miss you

  • @Tony9L9L you are a sick SOB. Maybe you should try girls....then you won't have all of the creepy frustration you appear to have built up.

  • Anybody that could joke about a tragic death like Stevie's is a sick son of a bitch. Karma will come back to bite your worthless ass...

  • Stevie Ray makes Hendrix look like an amateur.

SRV is the best guitar player/slayer of all time!!

  • @cunnidvd Done done it about a million times. Not saying Hendrix is not good 'cause he is. Just saying SRV is one who causes Hendrix to look like an amateur. Another look out of thousands won't change that fact.

  • "Played the blues like I think it should be played".... AMEN

  • He died young... what did he die of?

  • @znarf541

Unfortunately, he died from a helicopter crash =(.... That's why every time a helicopter passes over my house, I always clench my fists in anger and spit in its direction..

  • i just nutted......

  • what is this MTV playing music? when did they do that?

  • 2:10 ______________ i'm sorry but anyone on earth for the next hundred years that can please match that, and there will be a check waiting for you for the amount of $50,000. Thank you and have a good night, SRVee5565093434.+___)(090mk findme

  • exelent i did lisen to him in argentina throut the radio .....the best..

  • @tony9L9L sick fucker

  • dude that was the most awesome version I've ever seen Stevie play. RIP SRV we miss you.

Now we have Lady GaGa. Yay.. not

  • @RJERR shame on you writing that ''things/aliens'' name with capital letters man..

  • @MrAdeVogel

    LMAO!!! sorrrrrry

  • RIP stevie

  • Stevie always, throughout his career, had his own exclusive tone. I can always make out Stevie's tone, even from a distance among other noises.

Funny how it cut's right through it and grabs you.

I've never mistaken it for JH's tone though I never got to see SRV live or talk to Rene. Maybe my ears are playing tricks on me?

  • @cmc2234 He used super fat strings that produce greater tone (his high E string was 12 gauge), and those old strats like the one he played were one of a kind. I've played a '64 strat strung with medium gauge strings, and it's the closest I've ever sounded to SRV. Peace out, bro.

  • My dad told me that when he first got the news of SRV's death, he thought it wasn't true because the news hadn't really been broken by any news outlets on the East Coast. He even called in to a local radio station that next morning and asked "did you hear anything about Stevie Ray Vaughan dying?" They said no. I thought that was pretty interesting.

I would have paid any amount of money to see him live...SRV influenced me to shift from rock to blues guitar playing

  • This is incredible guitar playing. damn good mon

  • @67goldtops Now that's dumb. Not even reply worthy

  • @67goldtops COMICAL, that guy humilliate you that easily? you gay old wet men, get out here faggot, this is a Man's Place

  • @screamin07 As far as I'm concerned, he surpassed Hendrix.

  • I've never seen this clip, but I did get to see him 6 times while he was alive. He played this song like a motherphuqer, when he was in a groove there was never anyone better and there never will be. There's some great players out there; Steve Morse, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, et al, but there will never be another SRV.

  • Back then, when SRV was lost. people didn't really realize WHAT they had lost.

  • Yeah!!!!! anyone on earth within the next hundred years that can match this i will cut my heart out of my chest and feed it to you, No joke Seriously

  • Just another reason why MTV sucks.

  • @astroman30 Hey, at least the "M" stood for MUSIC back then.

  • @tony9L9L I don't get it.

  • When the hell is he going to get his rightful place in the HOF??

  • 3:30 - 3:35 is one hell of a move - blues player shimmy - SRV is the best ever, no doubt.

  • August 27, 1990 - The Day The Music Died

  • buddy hit the nail on the head,if you are going to play do it 100%

  • @fuzzmeister13 you suck... buddy wants 120% XD

  • @fuzzmeister13.......120%

  • @ontariobuds shitehawk

  • payaso

  • @francast404 tu madre cabron srv viola tu guitara

  • Would you do us all a favor and edit Kurt Loder out of this?

  • @cmc2234 Amen! There's another interview on here during the Fire Meets The Fury Tour with Jeff Beck and Loder was interviewing Stevie laughing every five seconds. He's a huge hypocrite! He dogged Stevie REALLY badly when Texas Flood came out. And no surprise, he kissing Stevie's butt every chance he gets haha

  • Hendrix= black god

    Stevie Ray= white god

they are BOTH gods. Dig it?

  • Best song to be angry to.

  • Comment removed

  • holy fuck!

  • @SteveMontgomery01 damn right!

  • Damn if any of you haven't seen "Black Hawk Down," I highly recommend watching it not only because it is a great movie, but because they use Stevie's version of Voodoo Chile in it!

  • to me, this why SRV was the better guitarist than Hendrix, Hendrix could improv solo like a badass for about two minutes before it just descended into noise, watch any of his lengthy performances SRV could take it beyond that and just keep it going, he just never dies

  • @KaiRobin you are absolutely correct, after a couple of minutes Hendrix fell into an incoherent stream of noises. Stevie stays on point the whole way. The whole performance fits together and makes sense.

  • where is this, i need the full video

  • This is all we have of this unfortunately. Unless someone has the full video, which I doubt

  • amazing, just f**king amazing!!!.

  • So the criterion for being a good guitar player is how close you've come to Hendrix?! Which probably means that anyone pursuing a career as a guitarist should try to come as close as possible to Hendrix?! Do you believe in this crap? Guitar players, except for kids and amateurs, hate comparison; they try to leave their own mark on what they are doing; saying that someone "came close to Hendrix" is not a compliment but rather the opposite

  • I often tend to forget the difference between a Hendrix fan and a music fan. OK, you are a Hendrix fan. But even as such you should have thought twice before tossing the "1/4 close to Hendrix" thing. Its incredibly stupid unless you have invented a "coming-close-to Hendrix" measuring device; in case you have you deserve a Nobel Prize for sure. I like SRV's version more probably because I seldom fall pray to long-lived myths and legends. Thank God for that

  • Well said.

  • I think that pretty much sums up the reason for all the Hendrix worshiping zombies out there.

look at the comment just made by bonds256. Man these people are STUPID!

  • True that. I have nothing against Hendrix yet I have a lot against all Hendrix fascist who buzz like horseflies on EVERY SRV video preaching like medieval religious fanatics and probably trying to reassure themselves that "Jimi is the best ever". Hendrix has my due respect though as a player he's not among my favorites. Should I go fussing about it all over YT?! Sadly, those brainwashed freaks are pissing me more and more off the guy who has no guilt at all

  • I'm actually finding it quite funny now! All these Hendrix worshipers are just plain hilarious haha

  • I truly admire your patience with those "hilarious" nut cases. I'm a tolerant guy but one thing that maddens me is peoples' unashamed stupidity

  • It's all good man. I have to keep a cool head, or I'd be kicked off of here!

  • @5507156693 I'm in total agreement about Hendrix. I have always given him his due props. It's interesting how many Hendrixian nut cases come on SRV videos to trash him. You're right, they are desperate to convince themselves more than others that their favorite is better than your favorite.

I was just in a "discussion" with a zealous SRV hater, on video "Comparing Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix Part 2".

Fact is with these clowns, it always comes down to a huge case of DENIAL.!

  • Those "zealous SRV haters" are plainly and simply jealous; Stevie's the one that bugs them the most. They have no arguments against him and can only come up with unfounded denial. They spend plenty of the time on hating SRV and then bitch about the miserable number of Hendrix's vids views, which always cracks me up. My conclusion sounds ugly but sums up my observations: while probably not all Hendrix fans are morons, EVERY moron seems to be a Hendrix fan

  • @5507156693 ..the fact that hendrix is even compared to srv is a joke...srv is and was the greatest ever...hendrix in my view..isnt even in the discussion...

  • It's hard not to agree while listening to this stunning performance...Stevie made me like this song anyway; and his version of Little Wing is a true masterpiece. All in all I think one single "best" does not exist but Hendrix fans are so brainwashed and intolerant (maybe simply jealous) that your statement just warms my heart

  • I guess, there's no better way to play it like this. Stevie Ray, i loved your performances

  • An absolutely mean & wicked version. You gotta sell your soul to play like that.

  • watch him at 3:20, it's like he's saying "yea that's right, I'm doing this every day" just so awesome, I feel this is the best version I have watched so far.

  • holy shiz,

    always dug that song.

  • good god.

  • He certainly knew how to play Hendrix.

  • God Damn, Stevie Ray had STYLE!!! I'll never forget his classic pose! He uses it here from 1:44 to 1:47. R.I.P. Stevie, you're very missed!

  • @Fattyfatfatfat92 yeah where you can see the top of his hat.... thats classic

  • I honestly dont think I will ever see a preformance like this again in my lifetime. When you witness a preformance like this there are no words to do it justice...so I have to remain silent....total peace..

  • the move it puts on that lick at 3:25 just shows how much he felt the music and he was a channel where he wasnt playing music he was truly releasing it from i different place.

  • MTV should have shown some respect and chosen someone else to announce SRV's death instead of this guy who was pretty negative about Stevie while writing for RS Magazine; in this vid Loder will always look hypocritical to me..

  • @5507156693 Agreed

  • @5507156693 Kurt Loder is an arrogant, provincial asshole. He is a GLARING example of how critics are nothing more than people who couldn't hack it at something they always wanted to do...But couldn't because they lacked talent. THOSE WHO CANNOT DO WILL CRITICIZE THOSE WHO CAN.

  • @guitarthroat It's hilarious to read what critics with authority wrote about the works of their contemporaries Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Van Gogh, the impressionists etc. Those damn clowns would die of shame instantly if miraculously brought back to life. Why don’t modern critics learn a lesson from those before them is beyond me

  • @turnbacktime He made statements that he was a "Hendrix clone" and that he wondered if he ever listened to Jimi's original version of "Voodoo Chile". From what I read in Stevie's autobiography Soul to Soul, Stevie said himself that Kurt was pretty much just pompous and rude to him like he was unworthy to even cover Hendrix material. Kurt is a fucking asshole to lots of musicians. Probably out of jealousy. THOSE WHO CANNOT DO, WILL CRITICISE THOSE WHO CAN!!!

  • @guitarthroat

You took the trouble to type all this PM out? LOL. People often hate to admit to even the smallest mistake but your reaction borders on the pathological. I thought good of you after you first posted me regarding Loder. But as they say, it's never too late to get disillusioned

  • @guitarthroat If I remember right, he used to right or review, or whatever for Rolling Stone Magazine. And he didn't have a very good review for Stevie's "Texas Flood" album. Really funny/hypocritical that he interviewed Stevie right before his tour in 1989 with Jeff Beck and he's doing this piece about him after he died!

  • Dam can't stop watching the last minute or so of this video. Shows how he can make a few notes or just one note sound amazing

  • by the way 3:22 is so amazing

  • god dammit tony9L9L how do u comment on so many srv videos....u fucking srv nazi......i wish we could form a possy of srv lovers and rip ur fucking throat out....then mabye u would be able to shut the fuck up....and bask in ur hatred

  • I remember a buddy of mine walking into the my house a few weeks ago while I had this video on and he was floored by what he was hearing and seeing. He's a guitar player and he totally went to work on trying to sound more like Stevie. He called me up a few days ago and told me that he was dumbfounded why he sounded like $hit in comparison to this video.

I told him not to worry because guys like Santana are doing the exact same thing, and their failing as well!

  • That kind of came off wrong. I wasn't knocking Santana at all. I should have clarified that but I don't have nearly enough characters to explain myself.

Santana is my 3rd favorite guitar player so trust me, I wasn't knocking him

  • Stevie's number 1 of course. Then comes Brian May

  • how do you get that much gain without it screeching like hell through the amp?

  • Yeah, he was probably from Valhalla

  • Are you trying to make a joke?

  • you seem sort of retarded.

  • That would be our residential YouTube SRV flamer for ya!

  • I mean you seem completely retarded, but apparently not too retarded to know how to type legibly.

  • man, i'm sorry to say but i think you should get a good ass whoopin for that sentence. how could u say that about stevie? what u got against him?

  • Comment removed

  • and he still hadn't reached his full potential...

  • I love how he absorbs everyones licks and incorportas them throughout his songs. Sounds like he picked up something from Jeff Beck at 4:26

  • Also 2:11

  • seeem,s Mad

  • wait, is this voodoo chille or voodoo child?

  • This version is Voodoo Child, but Stevie pronounced it Chile, so yeah that's why it's printed like that on the back of his CD Couldn't Stand The Weather and it's why most of his performances that are are here say Chile and not Child

  • I don't think I've ever seen anyone put that much feeling and soul into a song. He plays the guitar effortlessly..as though he is just channeling the energy through his hands.

  • Magic hands

  • This was after he sobered up.

  • he was clean by 88. even scarier.

  • He's chewing gum, not "grinding his teeth". Why don't you try to tame your pretty wild imagination? (He chewed gum because he was giving smoking up, just like he gave up drinking and coke)

  • does anyone have the tab for the 7 chord he's playing up at the top of the neck?

  • You already know the chord.

  • haha what

  • es Voodoo Child , no Chile.

  • there is 3 songs voodoo child

voodoo chile and voodoo chile( Slight return)
