I've had type 1 diabetes for 37 years. The synthetic insulin does cause problems and not rarely. It hits like a hammer and has no duration. I am importing pork (natural) insulin from Canada and it works better for me. I originally was on pork (natural) and went to synthetic. I couldn't stand being on the synthetic insulin. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies love to blame the patient and not the product. Natural isn't perfect but does work better. Read " INSULIN: A VOICE FOR CHOICE"
I'm is against the Protect IP Act as written. If it passes, then it will be more difficult for diabetics to import the natural pork & beef insulin that they need for survival and quality of life. Eli Lilly stated that rDNA synthetic human insulin wouldn't work for some diabetics and rDNA human insulin is the only insulin available in America. Why isn't natural pork & beef insulin protected by the "Orphan Drug Act"? Pork & Beef insulin should be available to American diabetics again.
Read " Insulin: A Voice for Choice". Even Eli Lilly said that rDNA human insulin ( NOT HUMAN) wouldn't work for all diabetics. A lot of American diabetics are importing natural pork & beef insulin from Europe & Canada for survival & quality of life. Choices shouldn't be dictated by a profit. Why do those who profit from rDNA human insulin use suppression of information & censorship to push their self-profit agenda. Pork & Beef insulin should be available in America for those who need it.

Latest research on insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes) suggests that it is caused by trans fats (hydrogenated oil) in food. Hence avoiding all trans fat in food may eventually help to lower medication requirements and at least prevent the situation from getting worse.
How exactly do bagels, pizza, and noodles cause insulin resistance? I thought it was hydrogenated fats, and cheese and peanut butter, cream...and hard to digest food like meat and old nuts, and drinking while eating watering down stomach acids, that clogged up people. Carbs are so easy to digest, they would seem to be only guilty of excess sugar overload and lack of minerals and feeding the millions of fungus parasites.... Don't bad fats fit in here someplace in the explanation?
Yep, I defintely have metabolic syndrome, Let myself go a bit. I Stopped all junk and am exercising, scale does not want to budge. Even 5 years ago, if I would have done the same thing, pounds would have dropped quickly. Thick abdominal fat, high BP, high LDL, low HDL, prediabetic fasting glucose levels if I start eating too many carbs, just to name a few of the symptoms I have. No ones fault but my own. Carbs are very problematic for me, eat too many and I get constant painful hunger. Cheers!
Erectile dysfunction may be caused by insulin resistance or insulin related disorders, such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome and obesity. However, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, heart disease are also contributors as are tobacco use, low testosterone levels or hormone abnormalities, use of some prescription medications, depression, anxiety, stress and others.
Regarding psoriasis, this is often related to your immune system. There are genetic and environmental links that may trigger this. However, as you may know, it may also be a risk factor for insulin resistance.
What I would recommend is that you be evaluated by your doctor to see what may be impacting your health. It will be important to have a fasting glucose, fasting insulin, testosterone, as well as thyroid function tests done to help understand what you are dealing with. Also, a physical exam should be done to ensure no other reasons for symptoms you are having.
Keep in mind that getting blood pressure under control as well as lowering insulin, glucose and reversing insulin resistance (if these are the issues) can help get you back on track as these conditions often respond well to nutrition and exercise changes. With insulin resistance and disorders related, we often see increased weight or difficulty losing weight, elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, skin tags on the body, darkening of the skin on neck, underarms, in skin folds.
There are nutrients that also support positive changes when it comes to insulin resistance, you can read more about it at Insulite Laboratories website (see web address in video). Although much of what you are experiencing can be traced to insulin resistance, you want to be sure that there are no other issues impacting your health.
I appreciate you being helpful but you must understand that that guy was making a joke. Scott Malkinson was a character from south park and that I have diabetes bit is another joke from that show. Just had to tell you that lol. I dont find it funny to joke about as I am also diabetic. I am 22 and have had it for 16 years and I am afraid I am starting to have complications even though I thought I was pretty healthy. Just subtle things...im pretty stressed and scared about it all. :(
This is a great question. Since your friend has been diagnosed with diabetes, the condition you are referring to, the darkened skin is most likely acanthosis nigricans. This is a physical manifestation of insulin resistance or the bodys inability to use insulin properly, leading to elevated insulin levels.
The increased levels of insulin react with the epidermis of the skin and thicken and discolor the skin. The most common areas that this shows up includes the neck, armpits, knuckles, groin or other areas where the skin may be rubbed by clothing or other skin.
For some the skin can lighten or resolve with losing weight and reducing glucose and insulin levels. However, this is just a result of a more dangerous underlying process happening, diabetes. Not only can this result in your friend having to take medication and possibly insulin for the rest of their life but can also increase risks for many other health complications.
I would encourage you to discuss this with your friend and if they are not aware of the importance of nutrition and exercise changes that can certainly help them manage their condition and maybe reverse the process. Of course, if they are currently insulin dependant, they will continue to need insulin but if not, then they can turn everything around.
Also, please visit our website and pass the information along to your friend. I hope that this has helped. Please contact our Consulting and Advisory team at 1-888-986-4325 if you have any further questions or concerns.

That's funny in a way because I have a diabetic son, and one of the first questions that I asked his Doctor after we got home with our first bottle of insulin and read every word on the paper that came in the box (that told me that this was synthetic) why were we using something that was synthetic, and after three years I never got an answer from him. It's sad to me that with this illness that I always get better answers off of the internet instead of the Doctors Thanks for that comment !
I just read that George H.W.Bush & Dan Quayle with ties to Eli Lilly encouraged the fast track of the rDNA synthetic insulin through the FDA & then the Bush administration tried to limit the public's ability to sue drug companies. The profits from rDNA synthetic insulin affords the powerful to purchase new cars for their children, while we parents of diabetic children are left to purchase coffins or worse for our children, because of the defective insulin that we are forced to buy in America

I though insulin resistance tended to be assosciated with higher, not lower levels of insulin.

@ouivalerie Yes.... Saturated fat, omega 6 veggie oils, too little omega 3 (causes IR). Too little Zn, Cr, K, Ca, Mg (low due to refining food).

@gledalac1979 Stop eating things that require insulin to process?
gosmokesome 1 year ago
Gledalac1979, have you tried giving up ALL sugar, corn syrup and high glycemic carbohydrates? And doing aerobic exercise on a regular basis?
That would be much better for you than taking drugs, continuing to eat sugary foods and sitting on the couch.

Why is it wrong?
I thought it was synthetic as to prevent other diseases from organic insulin like pig or cow.
I'm not arguing, just confused.
