  • 4 minutes into the third and it's the first penalty of the game?

  • @ovietheman I don't think it's hating when you say that was a dirty hit.. I'm not a big fan of him but I'll be the first to give him credit when he makes a nice play! But looking st his track record and now with the latest suspension can you question if he is a little bit of a dirty player?!

  • clearly a dirty hit. clearly a great hit because anything bad that happens to cunt kaleta is great. everything that is wrong with the nhl. guy isnt out to play the body or play aggressive, just out to cheap shot and hurt people. just like fucking downie and ruutu

  • Too bad he didn't end his career.

  • Fuck Ovie he clearly had his back turned

  • damned ovie haters your just jealous that you cant have him so you down him every chance you get

  • like kaleta doesnt do that shit all the time

  • Ive seen Ovechkin fans before...do they even know that there are other players on the team or that the #1 seed doesnt mean shit if you get booted each year?

  • Illegal hit . He did not turn into it, he did not intentionally turn into the hit, and if you say otherwise you have never played the game or know not a thing about it. Kaleta plays dirty at times and he gets caught normally. Ovie is a very dirty player who rarely gets caught. Be a fan not a moron.

  • all of you guys hating on kaleta need to shut up. it was a dirty hit from behind and the only reason you caps fans are saying this crap is because the capitals cant make it by the 2nd round with the best player in the league.

  • @mkostecky18

True that. Kaleta shoulda had his head up for his own safety, but this is just dirty. How is in Ovechkin thinks plowing a guy using an arm extension while boarding is legal?

  • ovi is a noob!

  • he turned!!

  • hatin on kaleta i see... you people are just dumb.

  • You guys are dumb. You're making stuff up because u hate kaleta. Kaleta was playing the puck. Ovechkin had ample time to realize Kaleta was in a vulnerable spot and let up but he didn't. "The onus is on the hitter"-that's right from the rulebook on boarding. Kaleta never made some huge turn before he got hit. He was waiting for the puck then he passed it. And for everyone saying Kaleta is so cheap, Ovechkin has a longer record than he Kaleta so what does that make him? So think before u post...

  • Kaleta's own fault, he turned his back.

  • that was a fricken beatiful hit! I loved every second of it.

  • @BlackDirtywork Ovechkin suck's sorry.

  • @BlackDirtywork hey ur fucking stupid it was a hit from behind u asshole ur just like the fucking refs

  • @BlackDirtywork I agree with you 100%! Great hit! I wish Ovechkin would hit like the fucking dumbass he is every game! any hit that gets ovechkin off the ice is a great hit! glad to see people like you agree with me.

  • @bmgag19 Yeah I'm glad to see people who agree with me also. It's this stupid fucks fault he wasn't prepared for the hit and had his head turned

  • @BlackDirtywork maybe you should read my comment again, but this time a bit slower.

  • @bmgag19 no, no bro you read mine rong i was being sarcasstic.

  • Comment removed

  • Dirty hit, you can't hit from behind like that it's just pure disrespect shown to the other team.

  • whether it was a clean hit or not is neither here nor there. the point is, kaleta is a whiny cunt that deserved it. or better yet, a hockey stick to his fucking teeth

  • Kaleta saw him coming watch it again he looks up at Ovi....he chose to take the hit....its on him.......

P.S. head was down=100% of the time getting mangled

  • kaleta turned. watch at like 0:45 straight at ovi coming to him, and he turns to face the boards

  • As a sabre fan even I must say that wasnt really a boarding Kaleta got caught watching the puck after a drop pass

  • wow love all the comments saying its a clean hit.. ive seen some dirty hits that kaleta has thrown and he has gotten what he deserved but that was not a clean check..

  • Its pretty obvious Kaleta never saw Ovi coming, not sure why people would say he should have protected himself against a guy he didn't know was about to hit him.

  • Anyone who says he turned his back because he saw Ov coming is a complete moron and has never played hockey in their life. This isn't a video game. People don't have eyes on the back of their heads. He had his head down and turned his back to play the puck. There is no need to check someone from behind into the boards. Clearly a classic OV boarding, which is why he was ejected

  • @ripelcannon Just look at the play again. There is no reason why Kaleta needed to turn around to play that puck. He could've just as easily passed it, well, normally. People don't have eyes in the back of their heads, but they have them in the front, and he chose not to use them. I will add that Ovi came in way too fast, but I would still give him a minor penalty. Besides, Kaleta knows how those hits work, he's been on the other end of them enough times. Turning your back doesn't make you safe

  • @Iolaids Yeah, I watched it a few times and I still don't understand exactly what point you're trying to make. Kaleta had no play moving the puck forward, all his team mates were inside the defensive zone. Again, his head is down because he's trying to play the puck (He has to keep his eye on it, rather then assume the puck is where he wants it) I don't think it matters how many checks you make in a game to know whether a hit is coming from behind or not. I still don't think that play was clean

  • Kaleta needed to play the puck. I watched it again a couple more times and I saw that he didn't actually have it on his stick like I thought he did. Half of what I said still stands though, because for some reason he decided to pass it blindly between his legs in the defensive zone, which resulted in him kissing the glass, instead of stopping, playing it normally and taking a rough hit which Ovechkin eventually would've gotten a penalty for.

  • @ripelcannon Gotta agree with that, not a clean check. I'm a Pens fan but live in D.C. so I argue back and forth with a buddy of mine all the time. We argued about the Matt Cooke hit from behind at first I made the same argument that Tyutin saw him coming and turned, which I still think he did, but it was with enough time for Matt Cooke to make an attemtp to slow up and he didn't. This one is a lil different because I don't really see a case of Kaleta turning on Ovi.

  • @Iolaids I dunno if the hit necessarily deemed a major, however. Ref's opinion I guess..

  • you people think its a clean hit is stupid, because kaleta saw him coming, but he didn't knew he was going to hit him that hard, and it was a good call, because if you see somebody pushing the guy at the numbers that is a checking from behind call

  • just so glad pk got his revenge in march 2010.. if you get a chance check out ov get laid out. if any one who ever has actually played hockey (ice) before knows that he prob the best pure open ice hitter there is in the nhl. show me sombody better

  • holy shit what a dirty hit from behi.... o never mind its patrick kaleta. CLEAN

  • All the comments about Ovechkin throwing a dirty hit are useless. Kaleta has a huge target on his back, and every guy in the league is looking to break his back.

Just search on "Kaleta cheap shots", and then defend that piece of sh*t.

    Way to go Ovechkin.

  • im glad the leafs got rid of harry neale. absolutely horrible commentator. old and senile fuk

  • I truly hate ovechkin. He is a great hockey player dont get me wrong, but he is a dirty piece of shit. I would much rather have him act like crosby instead the extremely dangerous hits like this. He goes out like a missile trying to injure people. This stuff belongs in the NFL.

  • too bad u guys can't do about it now.... cry me a river u girly girls

  • /watch?v=wapN9o-ea9U

copy&past it ^^ you buncha ovi cock lovers

  • fucki fag he is such a cheap shoter

  • You call talk about this forever, and there will always be diffrent ways to look at it.

I have my opinion, and many of you have a diffrent view.

I never said it was not a penalty, I just think the 5 min game is a tough call.

I have NOT seen the whole game, and there migh have been more goings-on before this, that made the refs to take this call.

I dont like the checking-to-the-head hits that you see more and more often, and I hate to see players get injured. BELIEVE ME !

    My call would be 2+2...

  • Kaleta did that on purpose, he knew Ovi was coming so he put him self in a bad position so that Ovi would get called on it and possible get kick out. and he did. Thats the way Kaleta plays, gotta love em. Go Sabres!

  • Perfect call. I don't like Kaleta, but he didn't deserve to get hit from behind. He had already pass the puck to his teammate. If your gonna hit someone, go for the side or the front.

  • @saintly007 from behind??? if ovi hit him from behind kaleta would be dead, that was all shoulder, it looks like from behind cause brainiac kaleta decided to turn his back..but you gota love hockey..sometimes its a 5 min misconduct sometimes its not..depends on who is playing..thats why a lot of people dont like hockey..too inconsistant with the penalties

  • personally, they should look at a replay before making a call like this. they should look for: did he get injured, was the checker originally trying to check properly, did the checked player TURN AROUND, and base their call on those conditions.

  • guys come on this is i just pure BS

  • he should have gotten 5min,a game, and then 5 games for being a piece of shit.all this asshole does is try and hurt people.i can't wait for some hack like downie,or cote or another idiot to put this asshole head first into the boards.maybe break his neck.then we'll see how many rock the red in what is already a shit fanbase.i remember just 7 yrs ago when this was a home game for us playing in dc.what a fucking joke these morons are..

  • This should of been a 2 minute minor for boarding. I know ovie can hit, but if you want a misconduct, please refure to tough guys hitting a hell of a lot harder

  • Fucker deserves to get ejected. He takes 10 stride charges at people and smashes them head first into the boards 5 seconds after the puck is gone.

  • The reason why Ovechkin received an ejection is because he has too long of a history with questionable hits. The knee on knees and the boardings are all starting to catch up with him. Yes Kaleta did turn his back but a boarding is a boarding. I think Ovechkin needs to tone down his game. He still can hit, but he needs to hit when the time is right and not just whenever he can.

  • bad call..2min would be the right call not 5min

  • Deserved it, in fact everyone who plays/ever played or will play for Buffalo deserves it. Especially their ass hole fan base.

  • Ovechkin SUCKS!!!!!

  • this isn't dirty. kaleta was the reckless one for not protecting himself.

  • Kaleta deserves it. He's a dirty bastard.

  • What a pass !

Glad he got the boot on that one. Hits to the head and from behind should be ejection and suspension imo.

  • @adamra187 He didn't hit him anywhere near the head. He turned his back on a check.

  • Ovie BEST!!

  • 5 minute major??? Are they fucking handing those out now?

  • Kaleta got what he deserved. Thats all I can say about this hi.

  • stfu bitch kaleta is solid and ur band wagon ass is just sticking for ovechkin and whats the big deal with him he hasnt brought his team that far into the play offs yet sure he can make a goal look preety but he can play hard when teams are playing for the championship

  • this hit was dirty and deserved a boarding call but an ejection was a bit much

  • @sharkattack11647 A lot of the time a ref will call a major penalty anytime an injury happens. Honestly in my opinion almost every boarding should be a major anyway it's simply a very dangerous action. Now since a major was called and injuries occurred to the face by rule it's an automatic ejection. I think Kaleta turned his back but Ovi's history of hits doesn't really help his case out much.

  • lol when I saw the title of this video my first thought was "Does Ovechkin board Kaleta or does Kaleta board Ovechkin? Either way, this is going to be swell." Fuck both of them.

  • Kaleta loves diving into the boards on plays and faking injuries. Look up fisher kaleta if you don't believe me. Dirty fucker, but really effective.

    Ovechkin's play here was clean.

  • @Mintos77 no way. as much as i like ovechkin he needs to control himself out there when it comes to the physical part of hockey. he hits players no matter what position they are in and leads with is knee quite a bit. if you wanna clean hit. check out Kaleta's hit on Ovechkin :P

  • Ovechkin should take a look that Kaleta is in bad position so he should be wise and hit him later

  • Kaleta had his head down and turned into it

  • russian pig

  • what the fuck. those asshole fans slamming the glass at the end of the video. who does that to an injured player? drunks.

  • Typical Ove hit!! Hes a big boy he can hit someone facing him instead of doing cheap shots like this.. He didi it to Briere aswell!! Pat took it like the man he is tough..

  • ..bad call..kaleta turned his cheek at the last second, thats just ovie finishing his check, nothing illegal about this expect maybe the intensity of the hit,

  • Ovie plays dirty

  • He needs to stop making dumb hits before he gets someone seriously injured, no wait, to late.

  • ACgreat21 u can't dive on one ovechkins hit either way ur gonna get nailed

  • its kaleta whatever guy is the biggest diver.

  • cheap hit. hes trying to hurt another player what ever he got obviously wasnt enough because what he did to campbell. get off ovies rod. hes notorious for running people from the other side of the rink and boarding.

  • wow. definitely from the side.

  • Ovechkin looks like stupid dog a he is.

  • @Norbino22 Hey stupid dog look at the mirror.

  • wow u ever says kaleta is the one that did something bad i think u need to see the doctor

  • what kind of a mouthpiece does ovechkin use? it looks like a candywrapper :D

  • Still don't think that was a hit from behind, joke. Kaleta turned=minor for boarding.

  • Hahaha I love how many people come on here and say negative things about Kaleta because poor Ovie got called for something majorly stupid to do. It doesn't matter the skill of the victim, Ovie still preformed an illegal move.

  • that was in the side and i do think Kaleta could have protected himself better but i don't really like ovi he is a good player but a bit wreckless and because of the speed that he has he uses in a bad way at times.

  • unless you are blind you can clearly see that it was a hit from behind. A hit from behind is a 2 and 10 minimum. If an injury occurs it goes to 5 and 10 game ejection. There fore the call was correct.

  • kaleta gets a taste of his own damn medisine, hes just a bitch.

  • A minor for boarding maybe, but no way is that five and a game.

  • Kaleta gets a taste of his own medicine and proves he's a huge puss. It was all Kaleta's fault for trying to make a blind pass when he has no real skills.

  • well nothing wrong whit this hit. Kaleta turns his back when he C Ovi coming so I cant say its a check from behind. He knows that the hit is coming and puts himself into a bad position when he turns his back...

  • @xjedimindx kaleta didnt turn his body at all. His body remains the same right up until ovechkin boards him.

  • @xjedimindx

So are you that liberal with the discipline when Semin turns his back to his hitters to buy boarding calls? He does that a lot, you know.

Look at those classy Caps fans taunting Kaleta. I guess wearing King Douche's jersey turns you into a douche as well.

  • @sjrr5545 I cant remember saying that no1 in the caps does it did I? Im just saying that he does it here and it is a bad call, So Ill guess you are the douche here,

  • @xjedimindx the games happen so fast that a player couldnt plan to intentionally turn his back just so he cant be touched, and ive said this once and ill say it again, if someone hits you, and your head makes contact with the boards, it is a boarding penalty

  • @ITZMillerTime30 yes ofc but should Ovi stop and let him go by him just cuz he turns his back on him? no cant do that then he will be able to go to attack. This happends when you turn your back on ppl they cant let him go by them.

So this is a horrible call, but it was ages ago so no point arguing about this :)

  • @xjedimindx The hit is bad, i'm sure he didn't expect to get ran straight into the boards, so he turned

  • @millertime2010sabres well then he shud be. this aint soccer here ppl goes in to the boards if they put themself in a bad position

  • Horrible call !

Make sure to look at the Checking to the Head hits instead.

Kaleta and Ovie are both good hitters, and in this case, Kaleta is not protecting himself. He knows Ovie is gonna hit him, but he does'nt have the balance to avoid slaming his head against the board. There might be a boarding on Ovie, but no 5 min call...

    Again... Horrible call...

  • @Tjobzter Fuck you horrible call, suck more Capitals dick, faggot.

  • @Tjobzter Actually, your moms a horrible call in bed

  • @Tjobzter

textbook boarding + blood and you dont think thats 5 mins? you're an idiot that most likely watches very little hockey.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tjobzter How is it a horrible call? Ovechkin charged at him, fully knowing that Kaleta was in a compromising position in where he can get hurt. Plus, Kaleta was bleeding, which means he's going to get at least a double minor, he got what he deserved.

  • @FevrGuy rules clearly say if you turn your back then its not a penalty..it was kaletas choice to turn away

  • @ejl74 There's a penalty for checking from behind.

  • @ejl74 He went to get the puck, in which he turns to get it, you can go in and press him towards the boards to get the puck, but you can't nail him like what happened, in which it is a penalty.

  • @FevrGuy it was def a bad hit, at 1st it looked north south but def a bad hit..i thought though that if you turn your back at last min befor you get hit that it wasnt a penalty..its your choice to turn your back and not protect yourself..i've seen blindside hits that were not called because its up to you to protect yourself..i'm not talking about hits from behind, im talking about turning at last sec which kaleta didnt do, ovi=bad hit

  • @Tjobzter Ovechkin came late high and from behind, ya good call on a cheap ass hit from ovechkin (again)

  • @Tjobzter dude, i never saw a clean hit from ovechkin, i like him and all, but hits like that r uncalled for

  • honestly didn't look like a terribly dirty hit, a blindside dirtbag move yes, but a clean hit, maybe intent to injure

  • use some fucking punctuation.

    dirty texan.

  • ov doesnt know how to hit, dangerous hit, kaleta should show him how its done.

  • wow... not worth 5 and a game...

maby a double minor but thats it. He hit him more from the side than the back, and his head is down which screws himself.

  • anyone who has played contact hockey should know thats one of the worst spots on the ice to have ur head down

    Shoulda been aware

  • Kaleta shouldve had his head up what a douche, todays lesson, dont fuck with Ovechkin

  • Comment removed

  • Kaleta is not a dirty player. He is a hard hitter.

  • @SK3rboF11 Sabre not saber retard. Kaleta dirty? look how many suspensions ovechkin has. nice try tho!

  • yeah..im sorry but ovechkin needs to channel his physical play!! i love that he plays with heart and he is probably the most talented since gretzsky..but sometimes it appears he is intentionally trying to seriously injure his opponents!! and all the caps fans say he is just playing hard..but when the day comes and someone has had enough...he is going to get taken out in a bad way and all of those ovie deep throaters will scream foul play on the one that possibly ruins ovechkin's career!!

  • He get's carried away sometimes, but I really have wished for a LONG time for someone to hit KAleta like that..

  • @cvanarsdale49

are you high? he is not trying to intentionally injure people..the only thiing he is trying to do is win. why would he want to tkae someone out of the game? if he wanted to do that, he would suckerpunch a player in the back of the head.

  • @69GuitarFreak69

nope not high...he is trying to hurt someone..he just doesnt want to make it majorly obvious! the hits he has delivered to some of his competitors bear no relivance to the outcome of the play!! when a player clears the puck and ovie charges him and slams him into the boards well after the play, not necessarily this incident..but maybe, he is not doing anything to help win the game!! god bless his passion and determination..he just needs to channel it and be less reckless!!

  • I totally agree. a couple more years and hopefully he'll change.

  • @cvanarsdale49 Yeah, about 1 or 2 seconds.

  • @cvanarsdale49 ur a fuckin retard.. it's called finishing ur check dumbass.. u dont go 50% through then just bail and turn and go the other way

go play some ice hockey rther than playing ball hockey outside ur house idiot

  • @ry4nx Ovechkin didnt have to bail but he had time to let up

  • @sabresrule0029 Even if Kaleta was turning, Ovie had time to realize Kaleta's back was gonna be facing him, and the league is trying to teach players not to go full steam when you see the numbers on the back. I don't agree with the 5 min and the ejection, but I am happy it happened to someone like Ovie cause it shows that the league and the referees are not gonna tolerate these types of hits anymore.

Most boarding penalties can be prevented, you don't need to do a full steam hit every hit.

  • @sabresrule0029 I was agreeing with what you said btw.

  • @eltyr18 haha yeah i got that. i also agree that the ejection was a bit much

  • What a piece of shit! I cant wait til he gets whats coming to him, I wanna bathe in his tears.

  • @danb247

and who exactly is going to deliver "whats coming for him"?

from the words of the greatest goal scorer in nhl history "Russian Machine never break"

  • Its funny, I think Ovechkin has more cheap shots on record than Kaleta.

  • he clearly hits him in the shoulder. yeah that was so dirty. just abunch of cindy lovers commenting on here.

  • @howler602 I do like both crosby and ovechkin. I think that kaleta simply had his head down. Clean hit.

  • Thats a terrible call

  • 1) ovie is clearly better than crosby how could you even argue otherwise? lets get real now.

    2) what a pussy, way to turn and face the check, there is nothing wrong with that play ovie was just finishing his check

  • Jagged22 thank you for your comment about capitals fans. I completely agree ovechkin fans in general need to get their head out of their ass and realize he's a dirty player. Ya he plays a physical game but he doesn't know how to control himself.

  • Bullshit!

  • Ok I dont like to make generalizations about large groups of people BUT Alot of Washington Capitals fans are truely stupid fucks like honestly they have their heads so far up Ovechkins ass it doesnt matter how dirty he plays they'll defend him.

  • looked like he hit him from the side but he went face first into the boards so idk what u call in that situation

  • a clean hit , the dude turned his back to ovie , but yes , it was a little bit far from the board.

  • what are you all idiots? ovechkin is a DIRTY player. he takes runs at people and attempts to injure- open your eyes

  • ovechkin is a great player..but he's ignorant.. dirty player that just checks to injure people

  • hahahah thats why crosby and the pens whooped his ass in game 7 last year........choke

  • And why Canada fucked up ovechkin and semin and the rest of Russia in the olympics!

  • from the side. not behind. commentator's an idiot. that's why he got kicked out of toronto.

  • atta boy ovie. give that guy a taste of his own medicine.

  • crosby fans? No, both Ovechkin and Crosby Get BJ's from the NHL. Actually they give and recieve. Buffalo FTW

  • Kaleta got even on March 3, 2010! He destroyed Ovechkin as he entered the Sabres zone. Ovie didn't know what hit him. The reaction from Byatch-pussies like Semen and Green were to try and slash Kaleta.

  • lol i was at the game, it was so epic. i am really really hoping that they will show it on the top 10 hits for the hockeynet youtube. i was so happy, that fag finally got hit. he was playing like such a lazy shithead the whole game, then when he gets laid out, he tries to take it out on kennedy. what a pussy.

  • hmm.. Kaleta cant do this to Ovechkin?!? He just did tonight and it was clean and a much better hit than the cheap hit ovechkin had on crosby. Went to the game tonight, no wonder why Ovi leads the league in goals. He is the biggest cherry picker ever. Still can't get one by Miller though! USA!

  • yea kaleta laid a pretty good one on ovie tonight.....he went right ot the bench after that one

  • Kaleta is a pussy.

  • I was there, I'm a caps fan and even I have to say it was awesome. But I don't recall him every checking Crosby cheap

  • i guess you can just turn your back to players now to avoid getting hit.

  • nice hit pussy

  • Kaleta makes the fault, he was faced up on Ovechkin, then he turn it off on Ovechkin and gets owned. Fucking retard Kaleta!

  • so he shouldn't have turned to play the puck... go suck some more ovie dick

  • Kaleta couldn't do anything to Ovi. He'd destroy him if he tried taking a run at him. I still think it was borderline. He couldn't let up, but why? Kaleta was facing him and he just turns. I would have done the same thing.

  • if ovechkin wouldnt have gotton thrown out kaleta would have laid down twice as hard of a hit

  • Are you serious?! this has nothing to do with the video, well it does but still, in the third period with 16 minutes left to go ovechkin had only the first penalty in the game?! what is this the goody goody game of the NHL right here

  • thats close, the player turned away last sec and it wouldn't be illegal if he didn't turn back away
