  • bleh, there's no point comparing a console that had less than 3 years of strong support (and got mostly crappy PsOne ports from lazy programmers) with another one that had like 8 years of exclusive games.

  • A skies of arcadia review would be cool

  • i ever hear about this video! but by the way ferrari f355 my friend have this car in real life i not joke is true my friend buy this car? hmm man today mark voice over 13 year now mark sound same?? love that

  • BASTARDO!!!!

  • 355 F1 My favorite car (after F40 of course =))

  • I was wanting to know what's the song at the end of the video, that starts at 7:51, though I don't have a name, it apparently is song number 4 in the game soundtrack.

  • Well goddamn, mark. If only people had YOUR mindset: Go with the console that's the cheapest and has the best GAMES, NOT FEATURES, GRAPHICS, etc.! I'm proud to say I got my Dreamcast Christmas '99. Fact is, the Dreamcast did not fail those who thought it would flop eventually. THEY failed the Dreamcast.

  • wish people would have listened and bout a dreamcast. still sad didnt get to see its full potential and not just 2 years worth of games. still play mine. DO SHENMUE. think ive asked about 15 times now

  • @rustyshackleferd22 he shouldn't be reviewing shenmue as I don't think it's a game that suits him or he likes

  • @rustyshackleferd22 Agreed please do a shenmue review damn i love my Dreamcast CGR FOREVER WoooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooo!!!!

  • I don't get why, when SEGA knew that the PS2 would have DVD, why didn't they release a "premium" edition of the Dreamcast which would have included DVD (... and a free game, so that it could compete with the ps2). It would have been a little bit expensive, but with all the games already available at the time for the dreamcast plus the DVD they would have ruled

  • @SuperSZ Multiple SKUs is a confusing thing- and also- for Sega to maintain compatibility with older systems- games would have to remain on GD-ROM. No game storage benefit. Most importantly- Sega simply didn't have the money to do it. Even when the DC came out- a DVD drive would be expensive as hell to get off of another vendor. Sony were lucky because it was a year later- and they could get their drives from themselves! Cutting the middleman price out almost totally I'm sure.

  • xD I got the Dc Japanese vers of this game, ITS GREAT

  • 2:41 isn't that track from test drive le mans? :o

  • anyone else notice that the 3-2-1 beeps just before the race begins are the same on outrun, as well as the engine sounds?

  • The soundtrack to this is sex to the ears.

  • I used to play this game with a wheel!!, great experience. The guy in the video is playing with a controller... lame.

  • The guitarist did sound a bit George lynchish....Dokken though? Idkkkk =]

  • i'm italian and i'm.... BASTARDO!!!!! :D

  • lol Mark used to be so chubby.

  • i played this game the motor sounds great

  • best racing game ever done

  • I used to have this game for DC, never liked it... because even if my car was running at 160mph the floor, trees, fences gave the impression that i was riding a bike... so slow!!!!

But it has great graphics always at 60fps...

  • @aleste666 I don't remember the last time you drove cars inside... And I haven't found a place that has fences and trees inside.

  • this game is actually pretty good

  • I remember playing this in an arcade and it had the surround screen and I can't remember playing any other game for so long in an arcade.

  • The Dreamcast has hi-res texture compression, which meant that a dev had 64mbs to play with. This compression was a really big positive.

The actual image quality of the DCs best games is better than PS2. The PS2 has 32mbs to play with and low-res textures etc.. It has to use tricks to make environments - which leads to that gritty blocky look.

Overall, the DC was never pushed, so there could have been even better visuals on the system. The PS2 had DVD - and that's what people wanted.

  • @kingstonlj

    that....and cock.

  • @kingstonlj you're right, the DC was never pushed and i believe that the only bad thing on it is just one analogic, but the hardware itself is better than the PS2 for sure, with textures and such.

  • @kingstonlj Hey man, dont want to sound like a troll, but what happen, happen..., the ps2 run over the dc of the road, and it last it more then 11 years on the market (and still is) and in that time she get some mutch better looking games that the DC, not only 3 or 4 games, a lot of games...

So, you can try to suposse all you whant, but the facts are, that the ps2 got a lot more better looking titles that the DC...

But anyway, i dont know why are we arguing about grafics in a DC/PS2 video...

  • @Caparzoshow This pisses people off because the PS2's spec difference isn't near as large as the difference seen on screen. The Dreamcast wasn't pushed like the PS2 was- and that's obvious. Numbers and visuals aren't enough. The Dreamcast could only be compared properly if it lived as it should have.

  • @kingstonlj wow u must be a virgin nerd to know that knowledge, dont worry mate one day you will lose your virginity

  • @EatMyWetJuicyTurd no need to be a nerd to know shit like this , just 2 minutes of researching , anyway , " know that knowledge" , SERIOUSLY?!?!

  • I hope they release this on XBLA and PSN in the future.

  • Sigh, If only more people had listened to mark about buying a dreamcast....

  • @42crazyguy

But if you look at the games, I think most of the people didn't regret to buy a PS2, so they didn't feel the need to look back to the Dreamcast. The DC simply had no real reason to buy it like GT, GTA or Metal Gear.

    Sonic can't beat that.

  • i just play the game yesterday in a arcade with a cluth and gears amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this game was poor in a lot of things...but it's more of a simulator and not a game. The moviment of the cars is soooo AMAZING (I think that only GT for PS3 can beat that)...and the graphics are goood all the way.

  • 0:01

  • MARK!! The El Camino is included the latest DLC for Forza 3!!!

  • gonna get this game right next... btw. how actually cares about that? I can tell you: me...

  • @orewojamasuruna

No, it was properly rated when it came out and its HORRIBLY overrated now.

Just stop trying to relive something that never existed.

  • @orewojamasuruna it was killed by the PS2, because the PS2 had a DVD player. If the Dreamcast had that, the PS2 would've been dead in the water.

  • @redsoxfan1984 No it wouldn't. If the Dreamcast had a DVD player when it was released, it would have been insanely expensive and it would have sold much worse than it did.

  • @raghraghragh1 actually not that much, it was in 1999 wich is just 1 year before PS1, the price didn't changed that much

  • amazing graphics but yeah they need to have a person fly though the windshield and run back like road rash when they slam into a wall

  • I love that camera view.

  • you should do a Jet Grind Radio review, that games t3h best

  • @EnergizerBunny804 I own the original jet grind radio on DC and I have to say its great, but not the best DC game thats for sure...

  • "Budget minded sports car, you seem them everywhere" - LawL, GOOD POINT!

  • 6 + 5 = 13 :D

  • Sega GT sucks. I don't know why it has high ratings, it sucks. SUCKS SUCK SUCK S UCKS. Get Metropolis Street Racer instead. It's far more superior, entertaining, and will keep you coming back. Sega GT Sucks. I HATE IT. Control sucks. And control is all that matters. Control in Sega GT SUCKS.

  • @opensourceplz maybe it was highly rated because you could make cars in that game

  • Lancia hat!

  • Look at those graphics!

Sega - tough gig, huh? If they'd never abandoned the Saturn, they possibly wouldn't have come up with the Dreamcast, but the Saturn was overcomplicated and would never have been able to properly compete with the Playstation...

    しょうがないね。

  • I Played this at Dave N Busters Cleveland

  • now dreamcast is more expensive than ps2 but still i want dreamcast (cause i have a ps2)

  • I don't remember the graphics being this good when I played the Triplewide version at a arcade. It was fucking awesome though :D

  • Hm, "F355 racing", full rev at the start, looks like you are steering with the dpad and not the analog stick or a wheel, also seems like you guys never played the DC version much as a lot of unlock are earned without passwords. In other news the online was such an amazing thing at the time, the slightest tune adjustment would win or lose you a race, which you did not know who won until you watched the replay at the end due to the game merging ghost data.

  • good game but friggin nails!!

  • Never got this for the Dreamcast, but I loved this game in the arcade!

  • I was amazed at the dreamcast conversion. Direct port at 60fps. Even the uk version had a 60hz mode. I miss the dreamcast days, how great gaming was in those days.

Xbl conversion in HD would be great.

  • SEGA, PUT IT ON XBL!

  • Ferrari 355 Challenge by Sega was the only reason why I would go to the arcade! I never played the Dreamcast version.

  • Same. Except Battle Gear 5 is better lol.

  • this game was the shit back in the day i still pop this in the DC when im bored of Ferrari challenge on ps3. no matter how many simulators there are these days this game still kick ass. Yu Suzuki please make a sequel this game is the best simulator ever but for the sequel add a testarossa.

  • I love the Testarossa too!

  • i love that car..ooh and the 328 gts

  • best driving game of all time even today, long life the legendary producer YU SUZUKI :) thank you so much for this best simulator ever

  • this game is awsome. but really hard! i can play the new sim racers at full sim mode but they are easy compared to full sim mode on this! still havent finished above 3rd place!

  • You guys should of played this online as well, that was awesome! Its a shame that the servers are offline now =[

  • nothing beats f-355.still unmatched even today.physics out of this world.i just bought a dreamcast and the ferrari game just to have it again.not null dc for me.play it right.

  • This was a top game, cannot believe its nearly 10 yrs old!!!The graphics were awesome for the time, and it was pretty challenging as well.

  • Does anyone else notice the way the road surface scrolls by and how it looks so realistic and unique compared to other games? Its so smooth and realistic looking even though the graphics are dated by todays standard. I wonder what techniques they used to make the road surface look like that.

  • This game was frickin amazing. It's still awesome.

  • lol i hate this game no behind car view

  • behind car view is overrated. Makes it look like you're controlling a god damn R/C car

  • So?

  • so sega never really made any chnages to there games from arcade to home thats the point

  • Remember why SEGA went into the market in the first place, to bring the arcade experience to the home? Anyways why change something that works?

  • yeah i dont disagree with you, but games like gran turimo had so much more cars tracks etc. Would it hurt to have arcade mode and a mor eindeph mode likr career on there games as well?

  • BASTARDOOOOO

  • Hey, they re-used that starting signals in Outrun 2006! Very nice!

  • hehe 69

  • great, nice .... but always the same, lucky there are always new games to play, like this one, but careful, it's addictive, hehe floprk. com/download

  • classic game room

    ROCKS!!!!

sorry just had to say that

  • is there a way to hook up a dreamcast on a HD TV? because there isnt a port on the back which the dreamcast cable fits in to.

  • dreamcast have VGA cable

there may be other video cables also

    s video or component

  • no. don't be a fucking retard.

  • What the fucks your problem you fucking dipshit.

  • Yes, the Dreamcast had a VGA adapter. It allowed many Dreamcast games to have a higher resolution output. Totally playable on HDTV!!! Oh yea!

  • @segamon

If you buy a £150 VGA box, yes

    YEEEAAAAH!

    :(

  • This game still looks and plays wonderfully even today. Man, I loved playing this at a buddy's house years ago, I should really buy a copy, as my DC and Genesis are currently hooked-up!:)

  • how do you get password feature??? im lookin rite now i cant find it

  • what does 69 mean

  • i used to play this game on the arcade machine, it's awesome, ferrari steering wheel and dashboard, 3 LCD screens, sportive seats, incredible

  • holy carp that good graphic

  • @van95122 You're joking, right? And I don't mean the idea of your statement.

  • Holy crap, never knew about the DaysofThunder code.

    I love this game.

  • best racing car ever .now the only one that can match this game is ferrari challenge for ps3

  • One of my favorite driving games ever. Had the Dreamcast and a MadCatz wheel. My first exposure to a simulation game. Was addicted. Still a top 3 all-time driving fave for me... Someday I will buy one of those great F355 challenge arcade units...

  • me too man! i dont mind paying 1.50 a shot at D&B to play this it's well worht it with the 3 screens and working clutch

  • hey i have amad catz wheel too! the game absoluty rocks with it!

what the game room guys failed to mention is that this is one of the few games that support the link cable, which i also have. playing this game against a buddy is great, but being able to not having to watch on a split screen is just awesome

  • PS3 Ferrari Challenge - FAIL.

  • Wow pretty amazing for a DC game. This looks like PS2 graphics. I thought Sega GT was the best racing game on DC but now, that I've seen this, I need to find it somewhere.

  • (sorry for bad english) why "like ps2"? Dreamcast had 8mb of video memory, double than ps2 (4mb), and about the processor, even if his one was slower (200mhz on DC, 295mhz on PS2) the DC used a Super sampling system more andvanced than his rivals (that allow a best simplification of the 3d scene beyond player view), that doesn't meat that it would be better than xbox, but, i'm pretty sure about that feature got the potential to fill that power leak againts ps2

  • The PS2 has 4MB VRAM, plus it could use it's 32 MB Main Ram as dedicated memory for the graphics. Also PS2 uses faster RDRAM, while DC uses SDRAM.

I love my Dreamcast, but the PS2 was a much newer console, like the Xbox was newer and more powerful than PS2.

But still I like DC the most.

BTW I'm not a computer person and I don't know much about that stuff, so sorry, if I tell shit.

  • The dreamcast had better graphics than the ps2

  • it produced polygons at a faster rate, however the graphical style is very different, with favours for both consoles depending on different games, its all down to what you prefer really

  • Not really, the PS2 could do 66 mil polygons vs the Dreamcasts 12 million max but the Dreamcast was very good at clipping polygons that were not viewable. The raw pixel and texture fillrate were much higher in the PS2 as well, but the Dreamcast did have the 8 MB of dedicated VRAM which allowed for very nice textures potentially, but the PS2 wins out on all accounts however it was harder to program for. The DC was an excellent system for it's release date though (fall 98 in Japan, Fall 99 US)

  • The only thing the PS2 had over the DC is a DVD player.Other than that the games looked just as good and in some cases better than PS2 games. The Specs don't prove much of anything.

  • the ps2 handles a maximun of 11 milion polygons the Dreamcast 9 Milion Polygons, The Dreamcast Textures are superior because irt has 8 MB Video Ram vs ps2 4 so that means that the Dreamcast an Display the Duble the ps2 can on the scren "Textures, Sepesial Effects" also the Dreamcast had tile based rendering and that makes the games look higher polygons even if theyre not, it eliminates the need for many polygons per environment, also it do Texture comprention and Antialiasing ps2 dont do those

  • also it had better resolution , almost all dreamcast games were 640x480 , and ps2 had some games that were 512x448 , like ssx 3.

  • thats true, the Dreamcast had a Standart 640x480 resolution, that means that it is suposed to be programed at that resolution only, only the bad ps1 or N64 ports run at 320x240, only 5% of the Dreamcast games run at 320x240 resolution, the ps2 is not standart 640x480, its standart resolution is 320x240, only 10% of ps2 games run at 640x480 and its pretty unstable, overall the Dreamcast was more capable system then the ps2, hable of better graphics textures effects and resolition then the ps2

  • @dinizgames Quick question though. Why did the Ps2 not just obliterate the Dreamcast so much that it knocked sega out of the game console market. Which is a sad thing. I would rather have PS3 vs 360 vs Sega than have nintendo in that race. t least sega still makesgames

  • peppers515, errors from Sega, ill tell you a bit of the story,

We are in 1985, Sega releases its Sega Master System, competing with the NES Sega is not doing has well, also Nintendo's Mario has about 80% of the market in its hands, so Sega think about something big and in 1988 in japan Sega releases the first 16BIT Machine, the Genesis, which, to Show its processing power and to compete with Mario they create Sonic, Sonic revolutionises platforming games, with the new Speed factor,

    Part 1

  • peppers515, its 1991, Sega is doing great, making tons of money, Sonic manages to get about 60% of the market in its hands, making Mario popularity decrease at a high rate,

In 1992, Sonic 2 turns out to be one of the most anticipated Sequels ever in the video games history, and turns out to be for most gamers superior to Sonic 1, making Nintendo's popularity decrease even more,

Sega was doing what no one managed to do back then, competing and even surpassing Nintendo,

    Part 2

  • peppers515, Lets go back a year, 1991, Sonic 1 is doing great, selling consoles and games, faster then Sega could ever think about,

Late 1991, Sega releases a CD ADD-On for the Genesis, the reason for it was to expand the memory and capabilities, since a CD-Rom could hold about 650 MB's back then, and a Cartridge only about 8 to 16 MB's,

Now the Sega CD, is know by many has the first Sega mistake, but its also know for many Sega Fans has a memorable system with great games like Sonic CD

    Part 3

  • peppers515, Now, the Sega CD manages to sell only about 6millions worldwide, Year's kept going on and Sega is computing now with the 16BIT SNES who was released in 1991, Nintendo is back full force, but now we are in 1994, the next generation is closer, 16BIT systems are getting obsolete over the time, Sega in a way to expand the Mega Drive life time, they announce another ADD-On considered by many a poor mans entry into next generation, the 32X

    Part 4

  • peppers515, now the 32X was indeed a more powerful system, the first 32BIT Machine on the market, but instead of using CD's, it went back in time to use Cartridges again, now, this was disappointing for many, and not only that, Developers felt uninterested on this new system, since Sega had already announced a Superior System, the Sega Saturn,

In the end, the 32X was a failure, selling only about 665,000 units worldwide by the end of 1994,

    Part 5

  • peppers515, by the end of 1994, less then a year of the 32X Release date, Sega Releases the Sega Saturn, now, Sega did mistake, Sega Saturn was supposed to release it in 1995, but hearing about the ps1 they unexpectedly, raised it earlier, pissing-of many video game producers, who didn't expected it to be released so earlier, and some didn't have time to finish they're games,

The Sega Saturn was more powerful then the ps1 but also, know to be extremely hard to program for,

    Part 6

  • peppers515, by the end of 1995 Sega had 5 Systems and 2 ADD-On's to support, Sega CD, 32X, Genesis, Saturn, Game Gear, Pico, and Master System,

Now the Genesis and the Master System were discontinued, and lather were the other systems, so Sega could concentrate on the Sega Saturn,

Now, the ps1 being a success, the N64 being less famous then the SNES but still making money for Nintendo, the Sega Saturn wasent selling that good, so in 1997 Sega anounses the fist misterious 128BIT Machine,

    Part 7

  • peppers515, back in 1997, rumors about Sega being developing a new system were about everywhere, here goes more mistakes, Sega solicited two competing designs, a unit code-named Katana, developed in Japan using NEC and VideoLogic technology, and Blackbelt, a system designed in the United States using 3dfx technology, now what was wrong here?

Sega moved to the NEC technology and did not give a reason of why it terminated the contract or why it chose NEC's accelerator chipset over 3Dfx's,

    Part 8

  • peppers515, Now Sega lose tons of money because of this, well, lather, Sega starts showing Tech demos of its new impresive technologie, also they show Sonic Adventure, with jaw-droping graphics, lather 1998 Sega releases the Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure has a lounch title, Sonic Adventure was rated high Scores and is considred one of the best games of Sonic out there, turns out into a System seller, also games like Soul Calibur show the new technologie,

    Part 9

  • peppers515, now everything is going great, almost like the first Genesis years, also with the new upcoming game Shenmue, who showed never seen photorealistic graphics, was getting people excited, that's until Sony announces the ps2, Sony scared of the Dreamcast and knowing they're console was not has advanced has Sega's, they lied about ps2 technical specifications

    Part 10

  • peppers515, Now Sega Dreamcast was in ps2's shadow, ps2 came out in 2000 showing disappointing visuals, but since ps1 was a success, gamer went and buyd ps2, not only that but the ps2 had a DVD player, so most people buyd it to watch movies,

Now, Sega's Shenmue costed 70Milion, since it was a big game and started has a Sega Saturn project, the Dreamcast sell less and less units so Sega in 2001 announced that they are discontinuing the Dreamcast and are now third party developers,

    Part 11

  • @dinizgames depends, some erly ps2 games looked awesome

  • @dinizgames in fairness, it was going a bit downhill for sega towards the end of the megadrive's life-span. So the Dreamcast was, in a way, like the Atari Jaguar, the one last big push to create something amazing. Unlike the Atari, it was amazing but it didn't last. Also, 2nd gen dreamcast games look no better than 1st gen games. But 2nd gen ps2 games looked ALOT better than 1st gen games. by second gen, the game graphics had started to edge past dreamcast games. Take GT3 for example.

  • @peppers515, compare how many years the ps2 was on the market, also it was a sucsess so everyone went to it, and pushed it, wile some Dreamcast games were PC or ps1 ports, who didnt push it,

Man, some Dreamcast games looked amazing, take a look at Shenmue 1 and 2, i seriosly doubt the ps2 would run that game, its tto eavy in terms of texturs and efects, for exemple,

I know, GT3 looked amazing on ps2 hardware, but i tink the Dreamcast would be able to pull the same,

  • @dinizgames true, but if you compare this game, which is a second gen dreamcast game, to gt3, which is also a sencong gen game for ps2, gt3 looks ALOT better. and they both came out about a year after their respective game systems were released.

Anyway, gameplay matters more than graphics, and that is the main reason for it's demise. Timespliters for ps2 may have looked like crap, but gameplay was fast, funny, smooth and highly addictive.

  • @peppers515, Ferrari F355, was a port from a Arcade machine, it was not made from scratch like GT3 was on the ps2, its kind of unfair to compare them,

  • peppers515, not realy, in terms of games, it depends on peoples tast's, also, if you read all the story of Sega i told you about, you will understand that its not the lack of amazing games that ended the Dreamcast, but the horrible mistakes Sega did sinse from the good old Genesis,

The Dreamcast has some of the best games ever made, Shenmue 1 and 2, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur 1, Sega Rally, Red Dog Superior Firepower, Toy Comander, Half Life, Quake 3, AirForce Delta, Power Stone 1 and 2,

  • peppers515, And the list goes on and on,

Basically the Dreamcast ended not because of its games, but because producers didn't trust Sega anymore, most Sega fans were mad at Sega because of the Sega mistakes, also Sega spent to much money doing Shenmue, the problems they had with the 3Dfx company, the failed Sega Genesis Add-Ons, Sega did not had the money to support the Dreamcast no more, so again, its not because of its games the Dreamcast ended,

  • @dinizgames No, they DID trust Sega. The only company that didn't produce for the Dreamcast was EA - because Sega refused to let them be the only company to produce sports games for the Dreamcast.

Sega had to stop support the Dreamcast because they just didn't had the breath anymore to pay the whole stuff around a console - promotion and so on. Because the Arcade division started to lose money (Arcade is VERY important to Sega). They had to shut down their SegaWorlds in 2000 as well.

  • @dinizgames also, considering how kingdom hearts looked, ps2 could run shenmue 1 and 2 easy

  • peppers515, Kinngdom Hearts looks good for ps2, but it don't pushes it, like Shenmue would, Shenmue has to much things going on at the same time, Dynamic night and day, Dynamic weather, Dynamic Character shadows "React to the suns position during the day time and also react to any light pole night", every single character is different from each other and has its own virtual life "going to job in the morning, coming home at night, opening its stores",

    Part 1

  • peppers515, also in Shenmue, you can interact with everything and everyone, every single object you can interact with, has its own details, every character you interact with has something different to say or do, you can get toy capsules and go play at the arcade,

Basically, Shenmue has much more going on at the same time, and on top of it, Shenmue still has some of the most amazing texture work out of all the Dreamcast games, a texture work, that is already to much for ps2 to handle,

  • peppers515, so this is a bit of the story of Sega, i wrighted 11 comment parts, i know its long, but only this way is posible to understad why the discontinued the Dreamcast,

Im a Sega fan, Sega is great, they were always ahead of theyre time, and made some of the most fantastic games out there,

  • @peppers515 not sure if its been said already but i remember people were sick of expensive sega add ons, the PS1 only upgraded the controller in its lifespan, you didnt feel as ripped off, although sonys memory cards have always cost too much

  • @dinizgames how did come about acquiring this information ?

  • @dinizgames:

yeah, but sadly the Dreamcast didnt had DVD.

i think that was the key feature of the PS2.

if it wouldve used CDs sega would still be around, and id have a dreamcast 2 instead of a PS3. that'd be awesome!!!!

  • @dinizgames ok, the dreamcast may have a better output res, but it cannot produce as visually technical graphics as the ps2.

  • @dinizgames You have absolutely no idea wtf you're talking about, the PS2 is a good 3-4 times more powerful than the DC, it can output 1080i, and the PS2 actually renders everything at 640x480, but then downscales it, google PS2 GSM. Jesus, the DC is an awesome console but it's hilarious when fanboys think it was t3h m0zt powefulest EV@R and more powerful than the PS2, it just isn't, you're wrong, but don't get me wrong, DC does kick ass indeed.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ You're also incorrect, the PS2 upscales the video to 1080i Only on GT4, and only 3-4 games can be output to 720p, but the others run on 480p, if you use Component cables, most games look awful with the upscales btw.

  • @LPsForNintendo You are partially right. FEw games output to 720p and 1080i only GT4 and I think Tourist Trophy. But NONE of the other bunch of games (98% of the PS2 library) had Progressive Scan. I have the component cables and try playing MGS2, MGS3, Yakuza, ICO, DEvil May Cry, they look PRETTY BAD. AND I MEAN BAD. PS2 was not meant to be played on HD it was designed to be played in SD 4:3 TVs. On the other hand Dreamcast had like 95% of its games 480p compatible with the VGA box.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Also I forgot to mention, 95% of the PS2's library didn't have progressive scan mode so all jagged lines would be more noticable.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ SPECs speaking the DC was more powerful (image wise) than the PS2 when used correctly. The DC fell short on memory because it used GD-ROM and not DVD like the PS2. If they somehow released the DVD adapter that was planned for the Dreamcast it would have been more powerful in every way than the PS2. It would have been on par with the GC and just a little bit under the XBOX. In fact SEGA helped in the development of the XBOX and there were some talks planning DC games running on XBOX

  • @garlandstrife Wow this was long as hell ago, and no, the PS2 beats the DC hands down, there's no game the DC could ever do that could touch God of War on the PS2. The PS2 was even more powerful than the Xbox and top notch devs said the PS2 can equal the Xbox when it's pushed to it's limits.

The DC was good, but the PS2 *IS* far more powerful.

  • @FeeLtheHertZ As I mentioned, the PS2 wins over the DC only in memory and since memory is VERY important that's why God of War may look impressive. If you could somehow combine the DC video and audio processing with the PS2 memory and DVD then you have a machine similar to a GC and XBOX. The PS2 was not the most powerul machine of its generation. Sony lied of its specs, you can look it up. PS2 was INITIALLY appealing to people (not HC gamers) because of the DVD (look it up).

  • @FeeLtheHertZ Eventually the PS2 became everyones console in japan, europe and america. DC died as everybody knows and its DVD adapter never went past prototype. There were even plans to make a ZIP disk addon to increase memory and in the future a hard drive. What became of thos addons? Ask Microsoft, as they were developing them with Sega back in 1999-2000. They became the XBOX. The same thing happended with Sony and Nintendo as the PS1 was meant to be the SNES CD. You can look up for this too

  • and not only that, if you use the VGA adaptorfor the Dreamcast you can run all of those games at 800x600, the ps2 dont do that

  • that's right.

  • no, it only runs at VGA 640x480 but its 480 progressive and not 480i.

  • 6+5=13

    3:51 lol

  • Just watched this review after the

    CGRHD Racepro review. The F355

review is one of my favourite CGR

reviews and the game also totally

    rocks dude!

  • Boy bad advice 5min into it or what? lol

  • I would love to see Sega bring this out on Live and PSN as a download. Along with their many other classic racing games.

  • nintendo and playstation was doing what was popular in the home games market , sega came out and gave you the real arcades wasnt tacky conversions too was quality stuff ,,xbox although it was good the games just feel like pc games even those that was supose to be arcade felt like a pc platform

  • if only more people listend to your wisdom o mighty ones! and bought the Dreamcast instead of the P(ee) S(hit) (number) 2 ,grrrr

  • I think even if the Dreamcast had stayed, I believe the PS2 still would of been the better system. Just a shame that the Dreamcast went out so young.

  • wooo how i loved the intro song on this game...and still i think :)

  • Its a pleasure to work hard driving the

circuits in this game. Seen a few weekends

with no sleep mastering the circuits this

very year. The simplicity of this simulation

game brings something of the purity and

grit of being a sports car racing driver.

You will always start a race in eighth place. To take the lead is a challenge and to hold that pace is a greater feat. The signature heavy metal track from the game its .."gonna take you for a ride". A ride to remember! Thank you CGR!!

  • COOL

  • I understand 69, but why 40? Just wondering =)

  • 6+5=13 lol hahahhaahhahaa

  • lol

  • i love this game so much that i have both dreamcast and ps2 versions of this

  • just bought this, can't wait, hope it's good :)
