Bikes dont need a "lane" they are narrow enough to go anywhere they please, and they prove it every day. Bicyclists just like to find something to bitch about, in reality they do whatever they want and bitch about everyone else. (peds. drivers, hot dog stands, cops, trucks, etc.... even trucks that are delivering bikes to bike stores)
Nice Video.. I ride in London and its so far behind where it should be.. I wonder what is the best city in the world to ride ? copenhagen, amsterdam ?
The need for dedicated bike lane police is obvious and to enforce $1,000. fines for stopping or parking in bike lanes. And if that doesn't work, immediately impound the car/truck for 30 days along with the fine.
just eliminate long term parking on the avenues so vehicles can load and unload and they would not have to double park. Part of the problem is that every parking space is taken, and double parking is just a way of life in NYC for drivers, bike lane or no bike lane. It's completely tolerated by the city.
Who was the foolish city official that claimed bike lanes make cycling safer for cyclists? Bike lanes multiply the hazards faced by cyclists while simultaneously making them feel safer- a dangerous combination!
The ending statement is not anywhere close to being true. Even a quick internet search could have provided an endless amount of solutions to the problem that many other countries around the world have come up with. Just put the bike lane next to the side walk with a buffer next to it and THEN the car parking lane.SO the space is already there, they just need to switch the configuration.

I can understand why there is such a law. I am a long-time, sometimes long-distance cyclist.
