  • Thumbs up if you are a PROUD CANUCK!

  • Why is it so hard to find the song all in English? I didn't understand a part of the national anthem! lol..

I honestly think Canadian government should spend $500,000 per person in Quebec to persuade and help them to learn and convert their 1st language to English so that Everyone in Canada communicates better and understands one another better.

  • first of all who the fuck is melissa O Neil?

Second: NO canada doesn't stand on guard for thee,it stands on guard for the zionist entity,OH CANADA!

  • @1988scottcarey

She's a Canadian Idol winner.. they stated such at the end of the video. Your ignorance is furthered by your second statement.

  • damn she's really very beautiful

  • GOD KEEP OUR LAND

    GLORIOUS AND FREE!

  • Hey, Im from Canada,Calgary she actually used to go to my elementary school Falconridge, she came after she won but she was sick so not ALL the school saw her some of them did cuz she came later at like 8pm like me & my sister got to see her she actually was my sisters reading buddy:).

  • tears in the eyes, too good! GO CANADA GO!!

  • O Canada!

    Our home and native land!

True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,

The True North strong and free!

    From far and wide,

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

  • canada je t aime, i love you

  • err...she said 'in all our sons command' ...last time i checked it was THY not our

  • Yeah, wtf?

  • Ahhh...nothing like grown men spitting during the national anthem.

Go Melissa! Let those pipes roar and don't be afraid to change it up!

  • well, I have to say, it's truly is emotive, and given that Canada is one of the best places in the world... it's no wonder you peeps are so proud of being Canadian..

  • She changed up the tune a little but who cares? It's a great rendition!! She has an awesome voice

  • did she say 'in all our sons command' instead of in all thy sons command

  • yah she did lol

  • GO HABS GO :)

But.. She sings it bad :S

    Great voice tho..

  • nice!

  • bad...

  • Why does it seem like EVERY person who sings this has to sing it in English and French?

Aren't we allowed to stick to one language when we sing?

Or is that against Canadian rules. :p

    lmao.

  • There are TWO offical languages in Canada and it was a Toronto vs. MONTREAL game

  • I didn't say English.

    I said ONE language.

And noooo I didn't know that Canada had TWO languages. I just live in Canada is all.

I don't mean about this one. -.-' I just mean all together. and it was a joke O.o

  • lol she said bra

  • LOL

    when?

  • @ 0:29 it sounds like it to me

  • LMFAOOO

    haha i heard it

    :P

  • yeah yeah genius. she said bras. with is arm in french

  • One word for this Song: Awsome.

  • belle voix en anglais mais en francais ouch

  • Tu peux le dire !

  • i thought it was alright, but not that hot

id like to point out that she screwed up on one of the first verses...

  • hey, just because ONE Canadian has done WHATEVER to you

it doesn't mean that that ONE Canadian represents all of Canada -_-"

  • She WON? Wow.

  • wow i got the chills............

  • the french part was so messed up :S

  • Usually you hear the U.S. anthem oversung. Well, this one's oversung.

I tried to sing along, but it didn't work like planned.

  • its funny you say that because im Canadian and i quite fancy the American anthem.... funny how things work :P

  • I like the Canadian anthem better than the American anthem. I'm American and I just don't always get the same feeling when I hear the American anthem as when I hear the Canadian one.

  • i think that its great how an americain would say that!! :)

  • I agree with ESLEFLTeacher

  • Ill admit ive never heard this combination of french and english lines before.. she did english french in the middle then english... Its usually french for the first 5 then english to finish. But still y'all act like u never heard the bi-lingual form of our anthem before.. Melissa isn't "overdoing" anything.. the anthem is often preformed in its bi-lingual form at hockey games.. esp In Montreal!

  • well thats how its normally done in Toronto when we're hosting the Habs, or in Ottawa all the time, in Montreal than you get your French English French.... there isnt a write way, but and Melissa is overdoing it, not in the bilingual sense, but in that she messed around with the tune a bit much... i think.

  • Montreal does it two third french and English when it goes to, "God Keep Our Land."

  • what song is this? are you kidding me??? we have at least 3 different versions of the anthem. one in all english, one in all french, then several variations where the frenc and english are combined. cariosus... we know you dont just speak english, but Canada recognizes two official languages under the charter of rights and constitution. its just that here in Canada, french is a huge part of our country, and is spoken in our government on a daily basis. Its just different than in the u.s

  • hmmm. maybe she overdid it just a little bit. but the bilingual approach was very nice.

  • if you do not already know hockey is canadas national sport, so kay lets see you beat us.

  • actually it is o' canada just in french

  • She sung 3 lines of the anthem in English, then 5 in French and last 3 in English. As a Canadian i find this approach really awesome for our bilingual country!

  • I thought it was amazing

  • haha the french was cute^^

  • What song was that? I don't recognize the melody.

  • ummm O Canada!

  • Well, maybe the first half...then she broke into another song. Just awful.

  • it's called O Canada in french~!

  • The words were but the melody she sang was NOT O Canada.

  • It may not sound like it but some Canadian singers are known to change the tone just a bit.

  • umm its not another song.

its called o canada in french?

  • With the wrong melody.

  • Nice voice!!

  • terrible version :(

  • GO LEAFS GO!!!

  • Just for the record, Canada = bilingual nation, French and English, it's in the bones of Confederation and something that definitely won't change soon. The anthem is TRADITIONALLY sung in a mix of BOTH languages, she may have not done it exactly right, but really, just doing it in English OR French is ignoring one half of our nation's amazing people/history... and yay for everyone who's non-English/French, Canada is multicultural!

  • right. but why not sing the entire anthem versions in both English and French, instead of mixing them together? I think it'd be nice to hear both in their entirety. I guess that's tradition ...

  • It takes too long I guess.. D=

  • ur dumb.....america is all english canada is french and english....we have 2 cultures in our country america has 1

  • 1 culture? 2 cultures? sorry ... you're wrong. Do you forget the Inuits? What about Hawaiians? ALL American-Indians? All foreign citizens? It is not just one or two cultures. That insults Canadians and Americans ... and Canadian-Americans. :)

"America is all English" ... that's not true. English is not the official language, only in practice. Many Americans speak English/Spanish or their native language. Every day I hear foreign languages (that aren't Spanish). ... Have you been to the US?

  • i hate it when the singers change the song......sing it the traditional way! christ!

  • i love it when singers make it their own.. go girl! I don't know, that's why I guess I love the American's National Anthem...everyone's always changing it from the "traditional" way and making it so much better!

  • the canadian anthem sounds amazing the original way. you shouldn't try and perfect perfection.

  • It's not 'in all our sons command'. It's 'in all thy sons command'

Also, it should be sung the way it is written.

  • She kicked ass, <3 Canada! Could've held the mic closer though for volume :o

  • Canada Rocks! Way better than usa

  • i second that.

  • beautifuly done...

    proud to be a Canadain

  • Holy crap I thought she sang this song awesome!! How come everyone is against her and saying she sucks?? It is soooo not true. She rocks!!!

  • shes usually good.. this is a bit weird. she didnt do this well at all.

  • That was possibly the worst performance of our national anthem I've ever heard :( She changed the words and turned it into a pop song at the end there...

  • Uh.. sing it the way it was written. I'm sorry but iI didn't like it. No offnese to anybody who did. Just my opinion , thats all.

  • GO CANADA!!

  • whoa. Mel went high.

  • lol she may b a bitch or maybe not but she a good singer i guesss.

  • she used to go to my bro's schol

my bother's best freind use to date her, i've also met her

---she may seem nice but don't be fooled, she's a bitch--but nice singing though

  • hah thats awesome

  • Amazing!

  • wooo that was awsome i like the mix of language and she sounds really good darn she should hae the Juno for best new artist but at least she won Canadian Idol

  • It's really thy, but still, she did it very good.

  • Nicely done Miss O'Neil.

  • lol,I like it when Jacob sang it!haha.

  • Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,

    Il sait porter la croix.

    Ton histoire est une épopée,

    Des plus brillants exploits.

  • Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,

    Il sait porter la croix.

    Ton histoire est une épopée,

    Des plus brillants exploits.

  • As a Canadian by marriage .... that was beautiful.

  • It's good. She puts the meaning in patriotism.

  • Her French is pretty rough

  • She should've sung the whole damn anthem in English.

  • No, that would have been disrespectful. It's the Toronto Maple Leafs against the Montreal Canadiens. It only makes sense.

  • she should not have sang the whole anthem in english greatrey because canada is also french

  • Well excuse me for being so insensitive. I respect your bilinguality.

  • It's an okay performance.

  • i dont think she did very good at this one but umm i love her singing (most of the time)

  • Really pretty good!

  • wow..she's really good..i'm glad she visited my cousins school and stayed in their classroom!

  • Are you guys tone deaf...? She was in tune the whole time...just a different rendition. It was good. Canada rocks!

  • i like it! :)

  • it was great!

    She did it good

  • not bad...

  • I like Melissa but man, she was way out of tune!

  • Agree!

  • wow...way better than any anthem i've ever heard.
