British Shorthairs always remind me of Winston Churchill. Their rounded faces and unintentionally sullen expression is always hilarious and reminiscent of the PM (to me anyway).
my British Shorthair sheds a lot. I have to brush him several times a day just to keep it a bit in control - nothing like the other cats, I've lived with!
They're such a beautiful breed. Our boy is the best cat I've ever seen he's so cute and adorable. Also a very social cat he loves playing with us and he's very intelligent and even when he watches me with his round face and brown eyes he's so funny and of course he deserves all the care and love a cat can ever get.
In our opinion we think everyone with a multiple cat household should have one of these products. Oh, assemble it where you want it because it is bigger than you think. The company does a great job packing it so you will be surprized at the small box compared to the final size.
There are other perhaps more slender cats, but the British Shorthair is the PERFECT house and garden cat! This, or their American cousins, is the cat I have to get! The Siamese is wonderful too, but maybe a bit loud?
Affectionate...??? That's a joke! Try cuddling a British Shorthair Blue or getting one to sit on your lap. They act like you're dipped in shit. Squirming beauties: As cute as stuffed teddy bears - and with the brains & personality to match.

I have a british blue and once, my friend commented on how her face is flat, which to be honest, I've only had british blue cats and to me, their faces look fine because I've had them for most of my life :3
My british shorthair has a much flatter face than the one displayed here. He is also more stubby or bulky and doesn;'t have such a long neck, its more like his head is glued to his body when he is walking normally it is only when he hears a bird outside that you see the length of his neck.
@breakboy11 blue/grey british shorthairs usually have blue eyes when they are born. But they turn copper when they grow older. However Solid white cats can have blue eyes.

I took on a rescue Blue 5 years back...I love him dearly but whatever happened to him makes him hard to handle ..which is tragic really. He is gorgeous, but I cannot groom him. I have the scars to prove it. I am sure however they are lovely cats normally...Somewhere however this cat has suffered...He loves company but not cuddles.

@cuteperugirl My landlady has a cat, I suspect it might be one of these, it's petit with thick-short fur, a short face and snout (but with a normal looking nose) , slanted angled eyes and it has the same type of "arse and tail in the air" posturing as the ones on here. It also too follows me outside and waits for me and it has a squeeky but quite meow. He's great and I think he's a Shorthair.
My friend has one of these cats, it's hilarious! Craziest cat I ever did see. Very mild temper and a great sense of animal/human relation. He has a dog too and they get on fine. A king charles and a British short hair. They're incredibly expensive though.

I love these cats, they're also known as the British Blue, very similar in colouring to the Russian Blue, but these are more stocky and fluffy looking were as the Russian blue is more lithe and slinky looking, but still a handsome cat. Though they don't compare to my British Blue, his name is Bear and he's huge, the perfect hot water bottle on cold nights and a great judge of character, if he approves of someone then so do I!

I agree with her - I have my own purring teddy bear. My British blue shorthair is so cute! They come in different colours because of the persians and it makes more sense to me because I couldn't find out why my British blue was greyish-blue with olive green eyes. Every other British shorthair that are greyish-blue mostly have yellow-orange eyes!

I had a British Blue for 17 years - she was my best friend! She ever left my side when I was Ill or sad and was an equal part of the family - she even converted 'cat haters' with her lovely disposition.

The grey one rarely ever meows and when it does, it's like a purring lion, it's a funny meow
The other is the opposite, and his nickname in our family is "whiney", because it sounds like a whining child when he meows.
Very dosile cats, don't mind you touching their paws/tail etc and never scratch or bite. The grey cat is affectionate, sits on the arm of her chair with it's paw on her arm

I have one. Wierdest personality I have ever seen in a cat but I love him. Im more a dog person but I wouldnt give him up for the world. Only talks when hes about to eat but no matter how much I feed him hes constantly hungry, He loves aggressive play like a dog.
i swear we had a purebreed one of these that strayed onto our property in its old age. Was a bit beat up but was so lovable and our tabby took it on as companion. It died in its sleep a while later all curled up with its head tucked under its paw.
I have two cats named tom and jerry. tom is a fatter one and jerry looks almost exactly like the one in the video. they are great with children and love everyone. they are couch potatoes. tom stays away from people more than jerry. jerry likes to come on my bad and sleep with me.

this is a british shorthair, Val, who is a breeder sell both british and chartreux cats. I bought 2 brits from her, and she know what she is talking about, the mum of my cat was the best british in Canada in 97
The chartrex has green eyes and a triangular face, and the british blue or lilac has a copper colour eye and their face is much rounder, some are rounder than others due to genetic or to neutering.
As a bit of trivia, these cats were also the first breed to be genetically engineered to become hypoallergenic. So, if you want a cat but have a family member with allergies, try and order a hypoallergenic British Shorthair. On the downside, the genetically modified cats are really expensive ($3000).

I named my gorgeous British Shorthair 'Sir. Elton John.' as I figured he should have a proper name after someone great in the world. And I was right to do so, as Elton is a great entertainer (just like the original Elton John). He's a bit over 2.5 years old, and sleeps in my room every night. Best breed I've ever experienced being with.
I have one that is mixed with something. Probably tabby or korat. He doesn't purr much. He'll be whiny of you ignore him. Sometimes, he'll meow for no reason. Not hungry, not thirsty, doesn't need to go out, don't wanna play. He never goes into my lap. Not very affectionate.
We have a a half British Blue (although he looks full British Blue) kitten called Gilmour after Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I have had a number of different cats, and I have to say he is by far the most laidback and affectionate I have ever had!
Those Brittish Shorthair cats are some of the cutest, calmest and most friendly cats that exists! I got one that comes to my home at a regular basis! Not mine, but sooooooo cute!

i swear we had a purebreed one of these that strayed onto our property in its old age. Was a bit beat up but was so lovable and our tabby took it on as companion. It died in its sleep a while later all curled up with its head tucked under its paw.

I have two cats named tom and jerry. tom is a fatter one and jerry looks almost exactly like the one in the video. they are great with children and love everyone. they are couch potatoes. tom stays away from people more than jerry. jerry likes to come on my bad and sleep with me.

believe me i give her everything, but there are times when noones home like 6hours .but during that time she sleeps so it really doesnt matter.i love here but i can hardly find something nice about her.the only thing is that she is beautiful thats all. :)

this is a british shorthair, Val, who is a breeder sell both british and chartreux cats. I bought 2 brits from her, and she know what she is talking about, the mum of my cat was the best british in Canada in 97
The chartrex has green eyes and a triangular face, and the british blue or lilac has a copper colour eye and their face is much rounder, some are rounder than others due to genetic or to neutering.

These cats are cute but judging by the current catshow trends this breed will soon cease to exist in present form.
The nose is going to be shorter and shorter until it's totally flat like the nose of ugly Exotic Shorthair cat.
I prefer the old look of British Shrthair- the one identical to Chartreuse cat.

As a bit of trivia, these cats were also the first breed to be genetically engineered to become hypoallergenic. So, if you want a cat but have a family member with allergies, try and order a hypoallergenic British Shorthair. On the downside, the genetically modified cats are really expensive ($3000).

Russian blues have green eyes, and happy cat has copper-coloured eyes. British shorthairs have copper-coloured eyes.

I named my gorgeous British Shorthair 'Sir. Elton John.' as I figured he should have a proper name after someone great in the world. And I was right to do so, as Elton is a great entertainer (just like the original Elton John). He's a bit over 2.5 years old, and sleeps in my room every night. Best breed I've ever experienced being with.

I have one that is mixed with something. Probably tabby or korat. He doesn't purr much. He'll be whiny of you ignore him. Sometimes, he'll meow for no reason. Not hungry, not thirsty, doesn't need to go out, don't wanna play. He never goes into my lap. Not very affectionate.

We have a a half British Blue (although he looks full British Blue) kitten called Gilmour after Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I have had a number of different cats, and I have to say he is by far the most laidback and affectionate I have ever had!
