That unusual gem is part of a set of 24. If you go to riften and join the theives guild, they will tell you more about it. Supposedly if you have them all, they are super valuable, but that's a lot of gems to find.

And you should search the lifeless bodies of Draugr that are around the place, you could find some coins/weapons/potions not that useless at your point of advancement.

But beware, when you'll be at higher level, some Draugr will wake up, to recognise'em it's pretty simple: they have Armors.

I've an Argonian, the "Magical Assassin" Style, and stealthy "front" stabbing them is pretty easy before they even wake up.

u finally found one of the gems there are 24 or so of them and the appraises is in riften but u should start the greay mane quest befor u go there and by the way there is one in the jarls quarters in riften and witerun

noch ein kleiner Tipp du kannst wenn du Sachen stehlen willst, aber beobachtet wirst einfach die Sachen in die Hand nehmen, in einen anderen Raum gehen in welchem du unbeobachtet bist und den Gegenstand dort einstecken

if you lvl up your enchanting you can enchant four pieces of wearable equipment with 25 % reduced destruction magic cost, they stack and you can cast all destruction spells indefinitely without it taking any mana :)

Doc get rid of barbos because your not leveling up in combat as you should be. Hes taking away most of the attention and you wont level up in heavy armor and various other combat skills..

You have powerful mage abilities and i suggest getting to lvl 30 before gt a following companion.

The mages guild is a great place to get really good magic equipment. Since you've been using destruction magic, Faralda (I believe her name is) At the entrance to the guild sells good equipment. I got a Master Robes of Destruction from here -- 22% less cost to destruction, and 150% magicka regeneration. Not to mention you can purchase some new spells from her. :D

the appraiser is Vex from the theives guild. that stone is one out of 24 stones. one of them is in the dragonsreach bedroom. if you collect all 24, you get a power that will basically make you very rich.

@Artemis0Maximus I found that stone also. I went to Vex to get it checked and when the quest came up to find 24 of them, I instantly said "Screw this, I'm not doing this." :P

@TheAchievementHub you get most of them from the vex's, and delvin's quests in thieves guild. plus most jarls have them in their bedrooms, so its pretty easy to find them all.

Even though you are really leaning towards magic, I really think you should use at least some melee, because it can really do a lot more damage in combination with magic than the magic alone.

Doc you can buy Adept Ropes of Destruction from the witches college, they cost a little but they are well worth it. Stats on them are: Destruction spells cost 75% less and magicka regenerates 100% faster.

I'm sure you've probably heard it before, but you should save your sparks for magic users to cripple their mana pool, and use ice magic on melee enemies so they can't chase you or power swing

Oh, I would like to add one last point about the unusual gems; I'd advise you at this point to either (A) be committed to collecting every single last one of them (Which is a long task, with no indication where they're at) -or- (B) skipping them to save inventory space.

Either option you choose you'll probably end up kicking yourself. You'll probably never finish the quest without googling it, and end up just wasting space. But if you never attempt it, you'll never know. It's a paradox.

@FuIIOfFaiI So much of my inventory is filled up with things I can't drop: a random lute, a random dagger, some giant's toes, about five amulets of talos, a statue of diabella, and the elder scroll I've already used. It really adds up, especially the elder scroll, it weights about 20, that is one heavy scroll!

@Surells Ditto. The way they're spread out, you HAVE to get them at certain points in the game, or you never can (Like the one in the Thalmor Embassy). It sucks. Not sure why the designers made them mandatory quest items like that...

@Surells You can shout your way back in, where you came out. I've heard there are other ways to force yourself through the physics. Also about the stuff in your inventory, I'm pretty sure it doesn't count against your carrying capacity. I remember carrying all the witches heads in the dungeon doc just did and after the quest was finished they started counting and put me over the limit. Did not understand at all what was happening. Also removed the lute using console, no change.

hey doc, i don't know if it's just me but your skyrim vids get less and less fun to watch. they are still fun ofcourse but could you try something diferent then just minecraft or skryrim. here are a few ideas: dungeon defenders, saints row the third, assassins creed revelations, uncharted 3.

i especially reccomend dungeon defenders, a mix between an rpg and tower defence games. a whole new consept and already very populair.

You have to take that unusual gem to the Thieves Guild. Not to spoil anything, but there's alot of them, and they don't leave your inventory until you collect all of them. Which can take up a decent amount of space.
