Hey Im coming Down to yallingup near dunsbrough and iw as wondering if there are any goo headlands to go for a spear at while im over there where i could pick up some Sambos and macks, by the way you have great vids cheers
Hey bud. What time are you coming down? You won't usually pick up macks down that way although early this year with freakishly warm currents a few were speared. There are a few good headlands there and further south, swim enough and you'll bump into a sambo. Remember oct 15th to dec 15th is a demersal species closure, no dhu, snapper, foxfish, cod, ect ect are allowed to be speared, King George Whiting and sambos are about it... Good luck!
I dont think I could shoot Blue Grouper just because they so f'ing slow...Its like a massive neon sign with the same mentality of a Morwong. I rekon there would be hardly any if they allowed you to shoot em here.... every weekend warior with a handspear would fill them with pranga holes.
I dont mind burleying up silver drummer cause they tick all the boxes for the job but have you ever had them in big chunks with southern style batter mix, one big guy will feed the whole crew on a bad day ;) lol
Mate you'd be surprised how hard blues are to get close to sometimes... I felt the same way you do until I moved over here and realised they are one of the most common fish in southern waters. The reef here stretches the whole length of the coast unlike NSW where there are isolated headlands/reefs that can be speared out. There's just too much reef here for that to happen. Thankfully we don't usually have a day slow enough to warrant eating silver drummer! Haha!
Their hard to get close to there because they know their not protected, I pretty much guarantee I can poke every big Blue Grouper I see here.
I acknowledge your point but the sheer number of people fishing these waters now is rediculous...Sydney pretty much boarders the Central Coast now and when theres good conditions its hard to get to a spero spot first not to mention the pole smokers.
hahahaha ah well, Id prolly turn em down to if I had the endless other delicous species filmed.
@aldraw you should i had to move from australia to england and ive been in england for a year and still think of the huge fish and blue water everyday im definately moving back at the first oppertunity but it dont look like theres one comeing anytime soon so if you can do it.
nice vid mate. great footage and some great fish. not to sure why you'd want to shoot a buff bream when you've got all those other high class table fish at your disposal though.
Jeez thats a lot of jewies sighted - amazing work, seriously jealous here. Bout the blues - no judgement here, but anything sedentary can easily get fished out. Fishing for blues in WA is a lot different now than the 70's. Keep up the good work bud ;-)
Hey Great Clip I loved it! I didn't recognise the carpark / boat ramp - what region is this in Bunbury way?? Tell me that wasn't one days diving LOL I'm jealous of all the Dhuies sigh!!!! Well done - Thanks for sharing and post some more up!
It got blocked because of copyright laws... Might be the files I have on my computer...? If you know how I can get around it, feel free to share your knowledge!
Cheers bud. It is 100% legal to spear them in WA and they are one of the most common fish seen in the southern areas despite this. The thing you need to remember is that unlke NSW, WA has endless amounts of reef and habitat for blues. It would be near impossible to fish them out even if everyone tried.....
@underseaash I don't agree with your view of them not being able to be fished out but they are abundant. I will shoot greens or small blues but not the big ones

We shoot them for burley. If you deliberately hit them bad and they fight and make some noise they will often bring out dhu fish from nearby caves.
