They can see you through the Railing, the Railing is not a Complete wall but a Railing, they can still see you through the Railing.

Phil you need to consider everything, Line of Sight, Altitude, Noise, Evidence (Like bodies), etc.

Phil, i'm a fan but watching your play through of certain games I have noticed that you struggle with stealth. (and that's putting it kindly) This is not CoD, you can't engage the enemy head on and expect to win. It's not even a shooter, they only gave you a gun as a crutch to lean should you need it. You're a good gamer but you need to practice your stealth in this and the Assassins Creed series. You should utilize tools such as hiding bodies, knocking out a secluded soldier,hanging from ledges

the game registers the last item/weapon you had equipped before, so when you press the button to equip something, the game goes back to that thing whatever it happened to be.
