There is no need to be afraid of laws that have already been passed! We are only afraid of laws that MIGHT be passed. If Clinton and Bush passed anti gun or collected guns during an emergency THEN it seems pretty likely Obama MIGHT do the same at some point in his presidency. Holder has mentioned his desire to do so (not necessarily collect, but rather ban certain models).

you're not picking up what I'm putting down, apparently. Laws have been passed, in Obama's presidency, that have "loosened" (for lack of a better word) gun restrictions. If Obama passes laws on certain fully-automatic weapons it will be due to direct influence by law enforcement officials, just like every other recent president has done.

What the Republicans are doing is fishing for an effective strategy to criticize Obama without being perceived as racist. Poverty is something that poor people have inherited. If you made a law that tried to help the poor become less poor, regardless of race, it would mostly benefit minorities. Because it's minorities that have less access to the things that let you escape poverty (decent housing, education, food, computers, clothes, transportation). In this country: only 10% of white people are poor, but 35% of blacks, 28% of Latinos, and 29% of Native Americans are. It's not racist to want to help the poor...

There is no need to be afraid of laws that have already been passed! We are only afraid of laws that MIGHT be passed. If Clinton and Bush passed anti gun or collected guns during an emergency THEN it seems pretty likely Obama MIGHT do the same at some point in his presidency. Holder has mentioned his desire to do so (not necessarily collect, but rather ban certain models).

you're not picking up what I'm putting down, apparently. Laws have been passed, in Obama's presidency, that have "loosened" (for lack of a better word) gun restrictions. If Obama passes laws on certain fully-automatic weapons it will be due to direct influence by law enforcement officials, just like every other recent president has done.

Hey guys, backing out of the discussion here, only because YouTube has the most hopeless comment/reply system ever (no direct reply to non-friends) and you waste too much time scrolling and looking for comments. It's also really difficult to explain what you think racism actually is in 500 characters or less. I am a 62 yr old caucasian from the south and I would have thought that by 2009, racism would be a thing of the past.
I hear whites asking how long they have to pay for what their ancestors have done to the black race..I ask how long it will continue, and WHAT have you paid?
I rejoiced the day Pres Obama was elected, but the hate sure hasn't ended.

For the record, I'm not a Republican. I'm a conservative leaning Libertarian - conservative on fiscal & national defense issues and Libertarian on most social issues. I believe that a person should be able to do ANYTHING they want to provided that it doesn't infringe on the rights of someone else. (And no, that doesn't include abortion!)

Why does it always have to boil down to race. Why cant people just dislike a person beacuse of who they are not the color of their skin or ethnicity. I dont like Obama beacuse the man has very liberal politics and I dont agree with a lot of the policies that he has enacted or the people that he has appointed. I dont watch Glenn Beck very often but when I do I dont always agree but saying that he is "empowering racists and legitimizing them" is crazy and just stupid.

I, like most people, couldn't care less what color he is. I dislike him for who he is and what he believes! Everyone I know feels the same way. What the Republicans are doing is fishing for an effective strategy to criticize Obama without being perceived as racist. They call Obama a racist so that when they themselves are called racist it just looks like partisan bickering, it also undermines the truth of the statement when democrats use it. If I call you a thief, that makes it harder to believe that I am a thief when you call me one later, even if I am an actual thief and you have some evidence.

Poverty is something that poor people have inherited. If you made a law that tried to help the poor become less poor, regardless of race, it would mostly benefit minorities. Because it's minorities that have less access to the things that let you escape poverty (decent housing, education, food, computers, clothes, transportation). In this country: only 10% of white people are poor, but 35% of blacks, 28% of Latinos, and 29% of Native Americans are. It's not racist to want to help the poor...

Yes. And the real way for people to be able to escape poverty is to provide more jobs, by slashing corporate taxes deeply. Our corporate tax rate is the higher than China's and China as you know, is a communist country. We need to help American businesses compete more effectively, and thus be able to hire more people by reducing these taxes. We also need to give inner city minorities the choice of both private and public schools that members of the black caucus enjoy through vouchers.
