  • Had forgotten how this song and this voice made my hairs on my neck stand on end. Thank you

  • great tune

  • if you could ever imagine that you could sing and then tried to imagine a song that would fit perfectly with your voice i would pick his voice with this song...

  • Beautiful. this will be the last song in my ears when i leap.

  • Crustation's version was a lot better.

  • God damnit...why do all those shitty modern-music videos that are annoying as fuck most of the time get 1million views, while those artists do it for money, popularity, etc. & produce most of it with computers compared to Christy Moore.

Moore does it w/ passion & just a guitar...& he creates beauty.

  • true irish song

  • Truly awesome song. I got to know it through Rapalje, who did an great cover of it (and they play it at every live show).

  • There's a deep meanin' sentence from the lyrics that breaks my heart when hearin' the song, I always cry...

For My First Love " The Sad Darkness "

I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to.

  • @AUGUSTM00N you always cry? night and day? big lyric, could mean a million things tho couldnt it. so theres basically meaning in it, your putting the deep into it with your tears. maybe he just wants to get his leg over and she aint interested. hence never going with the slag. or tother way roond. i cud never go with you fam.

orrrrrr ( and this is my personal favourite.)

His missus is gettin deeeepoootaaay, he dont have a passport. simple sad and conclusive

  • The most beautiful song I have heard - it is truly haunting. I have now heard it probably hundreds of time but it never fails to get me.

  • this song is favorite song of brendan hughes"the dark"!freedom fighter, O.C.ira in the maze jail, hunger striker in 1981 in northern ireland, and died in free ireland 16 february 2008.R.I.P.excuse my bad english

  • I love this song. I loved it a few years ago, but, I didn't know who sang it, and I just forgot about it. Then my younger brother had it playing on his playstation at night (like 12am) and I went in and saw the artists name.

    I fucking love this song.

  • the guitar strum at the start really reminds me of the metal gear solid music

  • he is our bob marley, our bob dylan, our bruce springstein, our john lennon, our johnny cash.... he reps the real irish, the real working class hard working ordinary men and women.

  • This is probably one of the best songs written in many years .. close your eyes and listen and it will take each person to a different place. Each can read their own life or feelings into the song. The song is misunderstood because people do not understand Christies' idea was for people to just that for it to mean something different for each person. It is like The Town I Loved So Well. It is not a song of rebelion it is a song of change, of family life, love and a song of hope.

  • People didn't believe me when I said I loved this song and i'm only 15.....? :L

  • Joan thank you for introducing me this song when I was in Northern Ireland in 1992. I love, love this song and I miss you so much. I wish I could see you again. Hope you are enjoying life on the other side (:

  • They are a bunch of tastless bastards, this song is awesome :D

  • @aughamullan Smiles :)

  • @aughamullan Thats just how it is, no matter how good the song or performance theres always a minority that goes against the grain for some unknown reason. Why you (not you personally, the tasteless bastards) could 'thumbs down' this song is beyond me.
