I've had one of those for years!!!. And all of them have bad, non working odometers and trip odometers. The little gears in there are cheap plastic and they melt! But an easy and permanent fix is available, write me!!
cool! I've got a '91 colony park; I've been doing a lot of work to it. Things it needed --everything rubber or electrical died of old age, and both the radiator and heater core were clogged-- and things it didn't need, like a subwoofer, tach, and HO engine ;-)
They cut no corners - a serious car and the engine - well built to last. This car is built like a tank - practically bullet proof- nice buy!! You can't get anything like that now unless you want to spend $50,000.....
The older town and country wagons with the 4 rectangle headlights , the ones with wood grain down the sides, looks like this one but much better I'n my opinion, but this on is awesome too
odometer failure is common. I drive a 90 Grand marquis LS that quit with 58975 miles. now has around 75000. My grandfather has a towncar with that motor and it has 600,000 miles on it. take care of it and it will last forever
Oh, that's really pretty sharp for its age. It certainly has a lot of potential. It's nice to see that there some other folks out there who care about these old cars. Very nice.
three things i'd do to it: delete the smog pump and run a shorter belt, two take out the y-pipe and buy the H-pipe to run the stock duals and get good flowing mufflers, or run none at all because they sound really good with just the 4 cats and the rest of the stock pipe, and three add the optional wagon or police sway bars so it doesn't handle like a boat, and get the cargo coil springs to keep it from sagging
Reminds me of national lampoons vacation, would you ever consider painting it metallic pea green? I bet those door panels are the same on a regular ltd and should be fairly easy to find, you may have to paint them to match though.
@mjmcomputers Lol, yeah don't forget the green-wall tires. I hope the door panels on the sedans are the same, this car has the cloth door panels though, so either I find one brown one to match, or all 4 vinyl ones.
Very nice Lynol! That thing is loaded and should last you for years. The Crown Vic has always been one of Ford's best cars up until today. I hope to get a Crown Victoria sedan or a Buick Roadmaster sedan someday!!
In my opinion, Fords suck. A Ford F-150 killed my Grandmother. My Grandparents were on vacation and the were getting off a bridge (on a very windy night), and a semi passed them (you know how semi's give off a lot of wind.)(they were also hauling a camper.) They lost controll and rolled down the hill and the roof caved in on my grandmother's side. None of the airbags went off.
@MowerzAndLawnEquep Are you saying saying their roof air bags didnt work? or they failed to purchase the "Rollover safety package"? Cause obviously the Front Impact air bags wouldnt be enough. Damn Fords and thier non functioning roof airbags. /sarcasm
Also it looks like the gaps are a little excessive where the tailgate "door" meets the body near the top of the door. Hopefully it wasn't hit at some point.
@mznxb9872 Yeah, the AC is ice cold. I figure those gaps are normal, you should see how big the gap around that door is on my two GM wagons, I think I could fit my hands in it.
@LynolsOffice I have noticed up until like 94 or 95 is when they started to switch to plastic. I could be wrong on the years but it was somewhere around there.
Are there white walls on the other side of those tires? If there are you should switch them around, white walls really look good on a car like that. Great wagon and a great find!
@MikeGuy993 Yes, the white walls are on the other side. I'm actually going to the shop today to have them switched around. A car with woodgrain sides looks wrong without whitewalls, lol!
not a big ford guy myself, but that is a pretty nice looking car. the one wagon i really like is the 1966 chrysler town and country, with the 440 of course :)
Dad was a Ford man,I was Chevy,Jeep,Ford,Honda,VW.......He always had Fords......36,50,54,57,59,63,65,68,72,77,78,85,86.......63 wagon ,57 wagon,Galaxies,Mavericks,Torino,Crown vic and lastly Taurus......had a 76 250camper special and a78 F250 ......loved his Fords(2 car family).....I had a 53 chevy,64 vw,69 Elcamino,72 Nova,(2)68 Vw,(3)76 Mustang2 Cobras,76 Chevy stepside,77 Jeep J10,79 Cherokee Chief,79 lifted CJ-5,84 F150.....now just a 90 accord,95F150 shortbed.
They don't let you do that now, because of "safety standards". If you got rear-ended by a truck or something, those people would most likely be dead. :-(
@SeberHusky Wow thats a shame, but i understand why, like if a truck rear ended you like you said that would be brutal. Its just so chill to have that in back it deviates from the standard front facing seats. :)
'91, R12? I worked on one of these and when you peel the wood grain decal off with a heat gun you'll find more surface rust around the wheel wells. Nice car for road trips. My sister in law has a '97 mercury sable wagon for christmas shopping.
