  • wtf

  • Great video, ignore the hate.

  • A verry educated woman, thank you for your voice on the subject. Keep it up ur not alone in your pursuite of truth and information.

  • What a little fatty

  • i want to shoot her and myself in the face

  • This is soo hard to wrap your head around the implications of protecting where the line starts- end they need to have more and more help with the power they have been given, scary "Too many , with moral sway, totally natural human response, normal natural human behavior we just need a few people around us all that we love and trust that "check us" Thats why Hit Stars have handlers, and when those around them are true friend this is where family begins

  • That is some fucked up shit.

  • Very true!

  • actually fancy it?

  • shut ittttttttttttt

  • I couldn't agree more.

  • crackhead to the MAX

  • Do you have to use profanity??? Oh this makes me so mad! You use it in the TITLE of your video!!! That is TERRIBLE! Here I just made a nice post to you about the LDS church (on another video), but I'm not speaking just as a Mormon here, I'm speaking as a woman, a person! Think of how you are coming across when you talk this way! Here I am yelling at the GUYS to watch their language because ladies are on these boards, and you're a woman talking this way???

  • @cindybin2001 And we will NEVER get the guys to understand why they should respect women and why "a gentleman shouldn't swear in front of a lady", when LADIES swear! And think of the type of guy a woman is going to attract when she talks this way! Don't you want to marry a NICE guy? Someone who will be a good father to your children someday?? Aren't you WORTH that? Of course you are!!! So PLEASE try to watch your language!!! You are better than that! Thanks and take care, Cindy

  • @cindybin2001 Rational people know words are just tools to help convey ideas. It's not the words that matter so much, but the ideas. Her word choice conveys how serious she is about these issues – that's how she comes across, serious. Perhaps in grade school this would be remarkable, but as adults I would certainly hope not.

  • @cindybin2001 watch?v=-GfscmQoqaE

  • we talked about this experiment in my psych class. i totally agree with like everything on your channel. and the pope and divine right is superficial

  • Someone got grounded or hurt in some way and read a few books and this is the result. I'm not saying its stupid. Just voicing my opinion.

  • o.O what

  • Mainly because people are selfish and only think about survival, so if they think or are told somehting which they feel is true then they will cling onto it like their life depends on it. Their afraid to enter the unknown, to admit they dont know who they are or where they stand. Its a basic part of our unconcious that grips onto every thought we have. But remember that right and wrong is a matter of perception. So what do you define as "fucked up"?, based on what? Your own thoughts? On society?

  • This is wrong maybe the pope but church leaders they help as much as they can, when my brother was possessed my pastor risked his life to save him,not only was my brother possessed he was also mentally ill.Lacy is Wrong.

  • I agree with you Laci, but just to add a little (and I'm sure someone already has) -- the issue with religion is that a stark majority of the religious do not have significant knowledge in regards to their religion. Most people can't even really cite their socalled beliefs besides "it's in the bible". Your argument is sound -- since I have significant knowledge of spirituality, I see priests and the pope as peers or less IN REGARDS TO their authority. I do not see them as pieces of s**t, I simp

  • Wow, no wonder Hitler had a rising. If its this easy to get people to do this.. people are dumb.

  • i got tired of listening to her talk what happens in the end?

  • i think that it dont really matter, if a lil kid told me to do this to my brother friend or anyone id do it, life is just fucked up people are going to do shit no matter what,.

  • No one is administering voltage to anyone just STFU u sound fucking stupid. P.S. u look like u suck good dick.

  • Your a dumb bitch fo real just shut the fuck up.. Priests and the Pope aren't tell their followers to hurt other people wtf? Your fucking stupid. Maybe if you would've said the government or something but don't bring religion into it.

  • @goofeykid19 You do realize that more people have been killed in the name of GOD than just about any other cause? Do we really need to bring up the documented histroy of the hideous things the catholic church has ordered people subjected to?

  • @WoobaOne Yeah we do need to bring up this "documented history" send me a LEGIT website or a trustworthy source that has documented cases of this blasphemy you speak. I'm pretty sure that more people have died over the Islamic faith more than Christianity.. Let me remind you the RADICAL Christians do exist however are not considered REAL Christians by actually REAL Christians.

  • @goofeykid19 So...you are DENYING things such as the inquisition, the crusades, helping hitler, the sodomization of innocent children (and hleping to cover it up) ever occured? Quite frankly, the only thing that made the catholic church stop was because they fell out of power. This is the reason I fight tooth and nail to keep religion separate from state. EVERY TIME a religion comes into power, they use it to abuse those of other faiths.

  • @goofeykid19 Haha....I love this one. It's a pretty sweet deal to say that if you don't agree with what Christians do, you can just say they aren't real christains and sweep their acts under the carpet. Of course, for muslims, you just blame all muslims for the acts of a few to give yourself the ability to self-righteously hate others. By this standard, as you also saying that the prophets in the bible who committed genocide are to be reviled as well?

  • @goofeykid19 @goofeykid19 Haha....I love this one. • @WoobaOne With that being said it is totally unfair and even ABSURD to blame Catholics and/or Christians for the worlds problems. Please get your facts straight because I will totally make you look like a child. This is FACT, more innocent people have died by an Islamic based attack than there have been people killed by Christians or High Priests. Was the Catholic Church corrupt at one point? Yes. Duh. That was hundreds of years ago. That would be like blaming white people nowadays for slavery.

  • @WoobaOne So it's ridiculous to hold the current Catholic Church for atrocities that occurred before we were even born. Back to my point on Islam, the Quran (Muslim Bible) specifically states.. "Any man who dies for his faith in Allah, in return, shall receive 72 of the purest beings, for which that man may do as he pleases with them" Hence, the 72 virgins. SO radical muslims think thy will receive 72 virgins if they die for their faith. However religion and God are 2 totally different topics.

  • Religion in USA is really different to Europe. We dont have strict homophobic 32 year old men/women or 10 year old homophobic children as much as USA. In fact I dont know anyone under 65 who is homophobic (just using that as an example). So even though the concept of religion is the same it's definitely extremely varied regionally or globally..your country is so devout.

    I'm glad I'm not there..

  • puta madre

  • Look I feel that it's not the masses that fall.. But the person all people are is puppets the only control they have is the New's,friends, and bull shit people that stand in the none educated way the difference is now a days is the educated are the ones that fall for it all!!!!! So leaves me to ask why change what does not want to be fixed...

  • oui ma belle

  • Question Authority....ALWAYS.

  • "YOU" live in a psyop for perceptions form the time you are born.

    .

"they" take baby DNA for a data base, without your sleeping parents permission or knowledge. "they" give you vaccines that are more to do with profits than to prevent anything. Test scores have decreased since the creation of the "Dept of Education"; which is a CAFR reporting fake "dept" CORPORATION..like the rest of the fake "gov".

MSM is now owned by 6 crony-global-FORTUNE500 CORPS with majority ownership= U.S. CORP fake "gov"

  • @IronRangeSurvival You learn this in Psych101?...try another report from the 60's...

the IRON MOUNTAIN REPORT..which includes "universal health care" as part of the plan...that seems eerily like the agenda's of the last 30 plus yrs.

Many are educated and are unlikely to understand how "monolithic" the deception has been; or even bother to look into the facts and history...."Monolithic" being JFK's description, not mine.

  • im watching this everytime i wanna fall asleep

  • People do fucked up things because they are fucked up. No authority figure involved.

  • Most people do things based on self-interest

  • good job :)

  • This girl sucks... BOO!!! JK I LOVE THIS SHIT... EATING IT UP LIKE A PANCAKE!!! HOLY FUCK WHO ARE YOU, CAN WE HAVE BABIES? JUST KIDDING, I DON'T LIKE YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE FAT! LOL I LOVE YOU SO IT'S OKAY... Sometimes I kind of want a fat girlfriend to make me feel more attractive.

  • stfu it means ppl dont giv a fuk

  • @gogreen18 Good video. One question: Why target religion? I mean, ya, you have a personal vendetta against religion, yadda yadda yadda, but ignorant religionists are, if anything, a side effect to the lacking education system (all over the world really). I've read a handful of philosophers, scientists and religionists from every walk of life, and I have found myself a peer to university profs. Education is the key, killing religion isn't. Jus' sayin'...

  • You can't stop it unless you educate people like you said. Unfortunately with the current standards of education, your not much really that much better off.

  • You should move to australia! You would fit right in!!

  • I love you. You're brilliant!

YES education is the key b/c people need to question everything.

If everyone is inspired to find the truth (not accept what they are told) this world will have a bright and prosperous future!

My life's work is to make engaging video games that are addicting and fun as hell, that educate people to think for themselves and make complicated subjects easily digested by the human mind.

Give me a few years to create them, and about 20 to see a result in society.

  • There are a lot of uneducated ppl that do fucked up shit. The teabaggers, the guy who shot congresswoman giffords, etc. If education is the main thing that makes you question religion, then why is the government promoting it?

  • That fucking pisses me the fuck off. I fucking hate this world so damn much. I wanna set this fucking world on fire sometimes.

  • I read about this experiment afew monthes ago,it had allot of ethical debates about weather it was fair to the participants.way to miss the point

  • Lots of good points and I absolutely admire your insightful way of thinking!

  • it's like democracy and communist. different people will think one is better than the other. to me it's like a coin. that's all it is to it. we, as the world of human garbage will believe what we're told and will defend our surroundings. look back at the mongos, the roman empires, the german nazis. all of these people and events are now just history. it's what we people do to one another because they can. give a guy a gun and he's superman give him 2 guns and he's god. religion is converting.

  • I love this chick. She has such great arguments and awesome debating skills. We would be awesome friends. xP

  • Its true tho, because look at Hitler. People voted for Hitler because they thought he would bring them jobs, but Hitler all so talked about killing Jews. The uneducated, said well lets forget about that, and focus on jobs. While the educated knew it was going to be bad if Hitler had power. I did not really say this in detail, but i hope someone gets what I'm saying.

  • interesting

  • You're very intelligent.

    also fucking hot.

  • Yep a frightening number of people make decisions with their eyes instead of their brains.

  • SAY WHAT.

  • yeah I agree with you

  • hey i think your really hot. wanna go and get a drink sometime?

  • here is a truth you need to get what you preach first suicide bombers don't start it for religion they do it for revenge you can only attack and kill people for so long till they stand up and say enough you live in a propaganda driven country you don't see what you country does abroad the killing of kids women children the support of country with the same polices religion gives them direction and helps propaganda continue unquestioned unchecked so is it a religious problem or propaganda

  • she looks like a zombie.

and look at the tags :P

  • No wonder they have "In God We Trust" on the US dollars. And then the guy called the President says the same phrase at the end of his every speech: "God bless America!" Who the hell is he to tell God who to bless, if God is omnipotent and knows everything? That's is an ego problem that many cultures have. The Jews are "God's chosen people," the nazi Germans used to call themselves the "Master Race."

  • Interesting video. I have heard about this experiment and some others before. I would like to see more studies that go even further in order to investigate what shapes all sorts of human behavior, and I think it should go beyond the subject of religious authority. I believe that the dominant religious institutions are put in place by the same establishment that gives us the Central Banking system, the mainstream media, etc.

  • hahaha you can tell that she just woke up...

  • You keep impressing me.... Go girl go!

  • it sucks at like work they say lets do drug testing ppl know pot is harmless but ppl may lose their job... every one knows its fucked up but if ya stand up and say "hay this is fucked up!" you then become a target... and the bosses that force these rules have orders from higher up to do so with out question and so on.... so normal ppl that have been a pillar of society may be out on the street cause they have a puff but thats not as evil as the ppl that say if ya have a social life ya fired

  • But you know what, your words turn me on more than anything else! Watching this video I was thinking "Yea, it's just human nature, there's nothing you can do about assholes, evolution didn't design us to be fair, just to survive..." ect Then you point out that we need to educate the people! Your so right! In fact, the guys that are hating on you right now, they need to be educated. They need to care! (God damn it, you made me into an Atheist Proselytizer!)

  • Holy ape shit, what the fuck is wrong is these people? (Mr Trey, nintendoallstars, TOSHSEEG... actually, as I take the time to read your names the answer is apparent...) gogreen18, your are a inspiration! This is youtube, so I can be an assholishely honest person here; The first video I saw by you was the "Christian's Guide to Atheists" and I was thinking... God I can already tell this is a stupid atheist parody. But shit, she's hot, let's see what we got.

  • People do fucked up shit partly because people like you aren't in the kitchen...

  • You think you know everything don't you little girl? Guess what? FUCK YOU HO! YEEEEE NIGGAS IN A TREE! NIGGAS ON DA FLO! NIGGAS ROB YO HOUSE!

  • You should probably go check to the Mental Institute. I can see her as one of those old ladies living alone thinking she knows it all like with crazy hair dirty in a far place far from other ppl because she is exempt from her family....

    I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU...

Maybe one day, you will have something Godly to look up to.

GOOD JOB SATAN ON THIS ONE!!!

  • get your baps out.

  • i'm curious if they ask the people in there experiment if they were religious ?

  • Do you submit to vaccines? cause your letting your facist government kill you without question.

  • you should die.

  • Comment removed

  • interesting thought. i agree mostly. one note though not all religions do mean stupid things like that.

  • Ur on2 something extravagant

  • You might wish to add that in the experiment the compliance of the test subject was directly proportionate to the authority level of the guy telling them to.

If a "student" conducted the experiment as part of the Thesis, X people would administer maximum voltage. If it was a scientist, it would be X+ and for a professor it would be X++.

This explains why religious wars tend to be most bloody. If the authority is high enough people will do anything.

  • Comment removed

  • @kybooz Her point was that thinking for yourself and thinking critically reduces your risk of being manipulated into doing bad things and/or blindly following authority.

I wanted to add to this that this experiment not only showed that people are willing to do bad things when ordered by authority figures but that they also do them more willingly the higher the authority figure is which gives this a second interpretation in an anti-religious content. I don't oppose her view, I just add mine.

  • Cause we are the best...niggers are stupid and lazy, spics are stupid and lazy, "Asians" are stupid and Indians stink and are stupid and lazy

  • sorry! You are my wet dream onlineI !! cant neglect your pretty face

  • I red the book of mormon it helps a lot to understand the bible ...

  • heres what i have come to understand in life, first off you cant change anything such as that. like everything that comes into this world, everything must come to an end. the world will never be "perfect" there will always be that 50-50 in this world. so iv learned learned to just go with it and hope the bad 50 doesn't screw us over. but in all there just can never be perfect all in the world.

  • Comment removed

  • You. Are. Awesome.

  • @davidakadb she's saying that people who are always being told what to do by a supposed "higher authority" will most likely do things that may be crazy or irrational if they tell them to do so, like administering voltage to innocent strangers. She's not saying that popes and priests are telling you to administer voltage on people, dumbass. She thinks it wrong for religions to tell people what to do and think and for them to brainwash people into doing what they want them to in the first place

  • holy crap you are sOOOOOOOOO right!!! i can't believe i have been wasting my life worshiping a god that loves us all unconditionally regardless of what we could ever do wrong. i only have you and your overwhelmingly sophisticated ability to make your point not only understood but TOTALLY believable. with out people like you in this world im sure there would be total chaos at the hands of this loving, merciful, redeeming, forgiving god you say is responsible for these "fucked up things."

  • Mk ultra

  • what the fuck man

i don't know why, but the way you talk and act is very annoying.

  • Hopefully you read this madam, but honestly would you fight to the death for your family if a raging enemy came upon you and them with brutal force? Or would you stand by as things are crumbling around you like a bomb slapped against a concrete wall? Probably not, you would fight. These people have been provoked, along with thousands of innocents who were in the middle of it. I would give my life for what I believe in. So is your parent manipulating you?

  • well the experiment has nothing to do with religion so not really the best comparison it just proves people are sheep thats why i do fucked up shit on my own

  • Yeankno what's fuck up whocares wat shesaid I would fuck her

  • all I know that for the behest of some secret political existence that the best way to keep you from the religion is to bring some easy half- ideal way for you so that would keep you away from the real truth(atheism,socialism,communism..etc) so we all can be ignorant sheep ready for culling and they can take our money and land.. you want real co-exist and life go back to bible.. sorry "if there's a new way I'll be first in line but better work this time"

  • hey it's 21st century so you're cool if you don't believe in god (all the cool people are doing it) ! all I know that Atheism is based on a political party which promised socialism and equality but unfortunately it failed... now someone goes and says Secularism is the solution, like it doesn't matter what your religion is we can all live together (talking about co-exist) well if so why Secularism criticizes religion that much?

  • So you think that priests and the pope to people to go "administer voltage"? I follow priests and the pope, and they tell me to go live a good, moral life, and they tell us how to do so. And it doesn't involve hurting people aka "administering voltage". They tell us to do what the bible tells us to do (the ten commandments, beatitudes, etc..) I don't see how any of that is "administering voltage" .

  • I totally agree, to me as an outsider one of the biggest problems with american society seems to be the lack of a generally accessible higher education. It strikes me as odd that a country that puts so much of its ideology in the idea of "the american dream" that anyone can succeed if they just work hard enough (and have a good portion of luck to be realistic) would make the access to higher education so unevenly distributed. It is hard to argue that it is more difficult/risky for a poor person

  • -(I mean to say, "it is hard to argue against that" at the end of the previous post) in america to be able to afford a university education than someone who is wealthy.

  • You're pretty but you talk to much :/

  • @TheFallingFlag

Wow, funny, that "joke" is so old if you inspected it closer you'd probably find a bunch of dead mummies buried in it. Not to mention that it wasn't remotely funny to begin with.

  • something you didnt mention was that most people who did go all the way DID show SIGNIFICANT distress. they would sweat, they would hesitate, they would cry, and be sad. then again, they did do it.

  • It's in human nature to kill. The people who didn't kill were killed themselves. Mercy is something that will make you weaker and eventually killed. Then again I'm a sick violent fuck.

  • religions are full of positive values that people can rely on. Obviously,as every other thing in the wolrd they have their pluses and minuses, and you are right that there are people who always take the most fucked up shit out them, but many people actually need religion as a guide. For me God is everything what is good in the world, and religions do carry positive and good values for people, and people do need them

  • @mia13091986 You should read Living Without God by Ronald Aranson. Not to persuade you or anyone, but so you can help a person that is questioning religion and face the problem of "losing" their values.

  • @mia13091986 That's pretty sad if you (or anyone) would have to have some man in the clouds to be fearful of in order to act like a good person. Is it really that hard to just face reality for what it is? To finally sit down and *listen* to what the universe is screaming at you instead of plugging your ears and trying to tell the universe what it is? Come on man. You—just as a modern human being—are far more moral than nearly any supposed god. (With exception to Buddah, maybe)

  • Don't you think that some people are not able to think on their own? I mean in a way you put it - think, analyze, draw conclusions, in order to understand the reasons behind things, to be aware of their choices, of what they decide to do with their life, what kind of people do the want to be, what is good and what is bad for them, for their children, for other people. I think many people are not reflective enough to be able to conciously direct their lifes. They need some guidelines and I think

  • @mia13091986 "I think many people are not reflective enough to be able to conciously direct their lifes...."

Well, yeah. They haven't been exposed enough to skeptical thinking & education in general.

  • Comment removed

  • I was learning about this in my psychology class. Fucking crazy.

  • so, education = anarchy?

  • Its strange, you SOUND like a girl, but you look like a badger!

  • i am not that educated, but i am educated enough not to believe in bullshit! I still able to question things...

  • You really don't know how cruel the world is do you?? Think of it this way, in the middle east people are beheaded just for worshiping what some view as the wrong god. Or you could look at some gangs here in the U.S., people are hacked up with machetes for looking or saying the wrong thing. This "experiment" thing aint too weird because electrical damage, unless electrical burns occur, fades after a few minutes with tremors being a side effect for maybe a day. Having 3 fingers removed, well you

  • That's so true Lacie.

  • This also applies to Hitler's regime, that was the first association I made. Since you brought up religious leaders, as an athiest I lol'd.

  • Idk tho. I know alot of fairly educated people that dont question enough. How do you find the line between education and indoctrination?

  • @shaggie07 By the same token, there are alot of well educated religious folk too...

  • @shaggie07 lol

  • Not only the church leaders, but their notion of a god. William Lane Craig is a great example of this, he's more than willing to overlook any moral objection in the face of justifying his god.

  • I read about this and the study also shows the closer they got to the victim the less willing they were to administer shock

  • you are extremely smart and have amazing points in every video

  • Lacy Green you are the anybody who people perceive to be a legitimate authority through pride. You are filled with the deadliest sin of them all, it is called the sin of Pride. Pride is extremely blinding to the person who has it. People who protest the Catholic Church are not protesting the Catholic Church but are protesting what they falsely assume to be the Catholic Church Protesters of the Catholic Church waste their lives protesting a fictional Catholic Church made up in their heads

  • @mazdaspeedmx512lbs I'm sorry to disappoint you sir, but there's nothing wrong about being proud. It was in the medieval times(yes I know you and many others still live there mentally) when lords and priests wanted to oppress their subjects. But unfortunately for you, we do not believe in your imaginary friends threatening us with eternal torture anymore. Have a good day.

  • @mazdaspeedmx512lbs yo everything you just said was confuseing

  • Screw you. You don't know what you're talking about. You've probably never even been to church. You use stereotypes about the christians that you probably learned about by reading the New York times. There is a difference between a good minister and a bad one. Most are good, but occasionally there are mislead ones that try to force us to do things. But when and if that ever happens, we don't listen to him.

  • @MrLuke506 You are worshiping an immoral god. That makes also you immoral.

  • I think the "fucked up" people she is talking about are the muslims. The Muslims are the only religious group to actually do major terrorist acts! I don't think we should persecute Catholics or the pope. They didnt do anything wrong! Im pretty sure the pope isn't a terrorist that straps people to electric chairs!!!!

  • @TheSecretman97 All religious groups do major terrorist acts, the crusades, the inquisition, the KKK, Westboro baptists church lol, okay maybe not the westboro guys and gals. but all religious groups do and have.

  • @TheSecretman97 He helps spreading aids and raises hatred towards homosexuals, thats enough.

  • @TheSecretman97 You have never heard of Catholic violence? It's been around for centuries. There's witch hunting, Protestant vs. Catholic wars, and lots more.

  • Voltage doesn't flow through a body, it all depends on current. The greater the voltage the (typically) the greater the current. Current Kills voltage don't do shit!

  • Great Video So True =D

  • i think you have way to much time on your hands

  • yanks make me wont to vomit

  • I didn't say advertising doesn't work; just that it is not the irresistible force the ad agencies would like their clients to believe it is. The final choice, to spend the money or not, is yours alone. That advertising makes you aware of your choices is a good thing.

If the advertising works and brings in more customers then that means there is more money available to the company for product development. Because "all things" are never equal.

  • Theism and statism are just the two sides of the same counterfeit coin. Step back and look and you will notice the arguments for each are eerily similar. I've often wondered how otherwise rational atheists could still believe in The State, and how otherwise rational anarchists could still believe in god.

Selflessness in not the answer, but would lead to extinction. Enlightened self interest, learned through experience, is the only realistic hope. The State is a crutch that prevents it.

  • Religion and The State (what many people call "government") are two of the most destructive delusions ever to be foisted upon humans. YOU are the authority over yourself. You screw up, it is your fault. Every action has consequences. Grow up and deal with it. Good job, gogreen18!

  • @kentmcmanigal Granted religion is useless but government is simply the most efficient way of solving collective problems. Granted it is often abused by the people in power for their own means but it is necessary to have some sort of government although I am all for experimentation in that arena. All the technological breakthroughs of the last 20 years have enabled us to pursue such idea's but I doubt the people in power would agree :)

  • @karakzanreal If you can't get people to go along with your idea by convincing them, you shove a gun in their face (even if it is usually just the understanding that a gun in government hands is backing the "law") and take their property against their will and/or order them to do something they don't want to do or to stop doing something they DO want to do, no matter if no one is being harmed. Yeah, that's "efficient" all right. There are no "collective" problems without The State. :)

  • @kentmcmanigal Without a state there would be no judiciary but only the mob. A society without any form of structure will only lead to fascism. That being said a society should have as little structure as is practical and should only use force against people who are taking advantage of other citizens. By that definition most politicians should be thrown out of office since they don't serve the public good but only their own hunger for power.

  • @karakzanreal Ad hoc courts, which are called to order when needed and disbanded as soon as the case is settled, have worked in many places in the past. Government-run court systems only supply justice rarely and accidentally, and almost never when The State is one of the concerned parties.

Fascism can only occur, by definition, when there is a strong State. Society doesn't need The State to have structure. That is a myth encouraged by government-run schools (state indoctrination centers).

  • @kentmcmanigal It is possible that it would work but without some sort of law-giving assembly system powerful non-government groups like industry would properly take over which would lead to a fascist like sociality where countries are replaced by powerful corporations with no accountability.

If our societies obtained a high enough education level it is possible that it could be avoided but as uneducated masses will always turn to authority whatever shape it may take.

  • @karakzanreal So, in other words your argument FOR The State is that without it, we would end up right back where we are now, with a State. Worst case scenario: (remove the spaces) schoolsucksproject . com / podcasts / 43

You are your own authority. To pretend you need god or government is abdicating your responsibility. To say that you'd be OK without someone running your life for you, but all "those other people" wouldn't is not realistic.

  • @kentmcmanigal I beg to differ. I have no doubt that were the world made up of intelligent reflecting self aware and selfless individuals we could easily do without a government. Unfortunately thous are not the only properties that we humans possess. As I proposed it might be possible to suppress our violent, jealous, bigoted and greedy impulses but as things stand we are not their yet. You would have to seed the minds of a generation with these ideas to have any real chance of success.

  • @karakzanreal I hate to keep cluttering up gogreen18's page with our debate (which I am enjoying), but if you wish to watch something that describes a foundation for a consensual society that requires no State, here is a video of mine: youtube.com/watch?v=Rhgfdfx4hNc

  • @kentmcmanigal I should mention that I don't live in the US and have only followed the US educational debate on occasion as it pertains to science education. The current government in my country unfortunately sees the US educational system as something to strive for for simple idealogical reasons although all in depth analysis shows that our current system produce more freethinking creative adults. Thankfully it looks like they will loose the next election before they can implement this insanity

  • @karakzanreal It isn't just the US "schools" that are the problem, but anywhere The State claims to have authority over education. Do you think the Catholic church's schools are going to encourage ideas that might lead to students realizing that god is imaginary? Why would any State-run school encourage the idea that The State is illegitimate and largely imaginary (other than in its effects) as well?

  • @kentmcmanigal Well if the state is made up of people who primarily sees their role as preserving the status quo then they wouldn't encourage new things. But just as I suggested before and as the podcast you linked to explains we would be right back where we started in a matter of months is the general education level and independence level is not raised sufficiently.I would like it if people would take more responsibility but at present they would just give up and reinstate what we already have

  • @karakzanreal How do you know what "they" would do? I wouldn't do that. Would you? The State obviously seems to not feel too confident about that answer either, since it attempts to prevent the chance to see what would happen in a free society.

But that's OK. I don't need the State and neither do you, and I ignore it most of the time, and just look at is as a rabid skunk to be avoided when it can't be ignored totally.

  • @kentmcmanigal Thankfully I live in a country where the scenes of drug raids in schools described in the podcast would result in protests in the street and firing the people involved including the politicians. This is properly due to a lot of things but primarily the Danish population is very uniform in opinions. Generally we see the state as an organization to help those less fortunate and keep law and order. In general it works great because most of us want the same thing.

  • @karakzanreal In that case you don't need government since everyone is in agreement. There would be no need to enforce anything. When you force one person to go along with some violation of his individual right to his own non-aggressive choices or personal property, on behalf of "the majority", then that is when you must resort to government, and that is when government becomes a force for evil rather than good. - How much of that uniformity of opinion is due to your government "education"?

  • @kentmcmanigal Honestly I don't really remember it that well. I just learned a bunch of things and that was it. Blatant dogmatism is not something that was part of our political culture except the idea that roughly translated "the widest shoulders should bear the largest burden". That is the state becomes the means for people to collectively help each other. Most people have no problem with this except the ones who want to be filthy reach and order people around.

  • @karakzanreal "the widest shoulders should bear the largest burden" is fine as long as those shoulders are doing it voluntarily. Force them and it is wrong. The State is not necessary for people who want to help one another. Want to pay more taxes? Why wait for it to become mandatory through "law"?

Bad guys: Funny thing is that those are the ones most likely to seek a job in government. There they can become filthy rich and order people around and pretend they have a right to do so.

  • @kentmcmanigal I assure you that no one in our government gets rich. In fact there are laws in place that limit public wages to not raise above the wage of similar positions in the private sector. What is a problem is that public sector workers have a tendency to resist change of any kind but that is a different matter.

Generally people who chose business careers do so for financial reasons which is way they don't like taxes since it increases "time-to-ferrari" to coin a term. To be continues

  • @karakzanreal "Public wages" is only a small part of the riches that those in government amass. They line their pockets in many other ways, I promise you. They don't take that government job because they care about you and want to help you, no matter what they claim.

Of course people start businesses for financial reasons. It would be crazy to start a business for any other reason. The business would not last if they made no money. And taxation is just theft-by-government.

  • @kentmcmanigal The problem I have with the whole thing is that in an unregulated marked economy the greediest most manipulative person wins. That is to everyone else's detriment. It is only the ultimate tread of violence that keeps individuals of that sort in check.

  • @karakzanreal No market is unregulated. Customers regulate the market better than "laws" ever could. You think a business is greedy and manipulative? Then don't do business with them. It is only when government meddles in the market that bad businesses can thrive. "Laws" make it hard to start a new honest business to compete with the dishonest one. In a free market it is in the business's best interest to give the best value or service. to be continued...

  • @karakzanreal in a government-regulated market, businesses learn to play the game. They influence "laws" to their benefit. They support red tape and regulations that make it hard to start a new business that would compete with them. That threat of violence is bought by the dishonest business to be used for their benefit.

Greed is not the problem, since self interest means you can't exploit your customers unless you are sure someone will protect you from the consequences of your ac
