Before reading last rites for Female Rock 'N Roll singers check out my channel; Experience who in my opinion will be our future Queen of Rock 'N Roll.!!!!!!!!!! This is the anti-Pop Rock artist that you have all been seeking.!!!!!!!!
Hello I am a great admirer of Pat Benetar and his husband Neil Giraldo, queria to only say that never an had the recognition that is deserved, Pat is Reina of the Rock and its you is one of the best ones than to had North America kisses to all alive Pat Benatar!
@Joanne1974KiwiGirl I love P!nk but seriously? She's fantastic, but still not in the same league as the classic rocker chicks like Benatar, Jett, Nicks, Patti, etc. But yes, P!nk is far better than most sorry excuse for female "rockers" we see in the music scene today.
Pat,what a voice, talent and beauty all together. She reminds an era when the girls used to love men and care about their boyfriends and forget about the today's material girls whores such as Pam Slut Lee,or Paris Whore Hilton today's icons for all girls.God we arelost for sure. I want my 80's rock back
Pat is still young here. If you listens to todays interviews you will find that she isn't that naive anymore. I think the rock star Pat and the everyday Pat have become one. That is a good thing. She has paid her dues and doesn't have to put up with any bullsh--. Still the queen of rock.
sh*t, back in the days when stars werent dumb down, siliconed fabulous and they had an OUNCE of talent, depth and able to TALK!!!!!! Lawd I despise "US" society and media 2day. worst
don't forget about Amy Lee of Evanescence- she's no Pat Benatar but, she is VERY good. and Pink has a GREAT voice- I just wish she could put out a rock album.....Pat Benatar is the Queen! Great songs, Great albums! Neil kicks ass too!
They definitely don't make rock like they used to! Female rockers of the 80's had more grunt and attitude than today's bimbo singers who just sing about how hot they are and flaunt their bodies in their videos. Pat was one of the best and I hope one of these days she'll make a come back on the charts.
I agree totally. There are no good female rockers out there today along the lines of Pat, Deborah, Stevie, Chrissie, Ann & Nancy or anyone else like that. All the "rock chicks" out today are so prefabricated and almost too pop to be considered rock. Seriously, is there anything about Avril or Pink that really "rocks"?
@PaperP1ate - well, i would defend Pink. She's a great self-promoter, big personality, and puts everything into her stage show. What's not to like? Her songs are alright. Pat and her people have more musicianship, definitely.
Avril, while i wouldn't kick her out of bed (i'd kick her *into* bed as a matter of fact)
hangs so much on her look, and probably has an army of songwriters and image makers...swagger coaches...Not the real deal
@nrthdude1 Are you kiddin' Alanis was the Pat of the 90's. Cheryl was and is very much a pop/country flavor. A female "Eagles" type of singer. You Outta Know! :)
Really?! well I agree, although I'm not a fan of opera (except that British guy that is/was a plummer and was founded as an amateur opera singer, when i heard him he sounded unbelievable to me and thats because you can tell his heart was in it), thankfully we had Pat Benatar to be at the top to define the 80's Rock and Roll. thanks c41bou for your reply.
The 1960s-1980s had Janis Joplin, Cher, Grace Slick, Tina Turner, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Gladys Knight, Olivia Newton-John, Carly Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Donna Summer, Heart, Blondie, The Pretenders, Stevie Nicks, and Pat Benatar. What happened to females in pop and rock music? I mean, rock barely exists for women and the pop starts are horrible. Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey have great voices but their music sucks. Sheryl Crow is good but what about the younger artists. Awful, man.
This is so cool! Pat Benatar is actually my second cousin (three times removed). I haven't met her yet though, cause she doesn't live near me. You know...I just realized that she sort of looks like Erin Moran and Erin Cahill (in a way). But then again, I sort of look like them too...maybe it's a family resemblance! :)
I always thought she was one of the best vocalists, PERIOD. Knowing how she made it work with Neil just makes her even cooler in my book. What a class act.
Its funny I been a fan for years, but I keep coming back and watching this video when she was kinda a kid like me then heh. Thanks to whomever for posting it. Its funny that she liked Hit me with your best shot here but now she detests performing it and says so openly. It makes me laugh.
I think she disliked the song back then (probably because of the way it can be misinterpreted as justification for domestic abuse), but she knew that it had enormous potential to be a big hit (because "hit me with your best shot" was a recent big "catch phrase" which had not yet been used in pop music). I'm just guessing.
I don't know what it is but she comes across so DAMN CUTE in this interview. I love her accent and raspy voice.

1981; I was born in that year. :)
Feels so odd to see people rocked out while I wasn't even able to capture it.
Now so many years later I enjoy the things they did in those days.

Clearly some people here, have not seen P!nk live. Don't put P!nk in the same category as the faux rockers!

Pat and the interviewer talk about the "rockstar Pat" as an alter ego. Pat refers to her alter ego as "her," not "me."
Pat even talks about "rockstar Pat" in 3rd person...
"She's darker...she's all the things you need to be if you're gonna do what I do...she's an extreme, that's what it is..."

Totally agree! Some other good examples are Christina Amphlett, Chrissy Hind, Joan Jett, Lita Ford. Todays female singers?? aren't even close!
