i hate tacoman. he's hating on the new sonic for no reason. the modern sonic is fun and controls just fine. ive 100% the game, and i still come back to play the modern sonic. classic is good, but just because you have nostalgia for something doesn't mean all things new are bad. just stop being so single minded and learn to give things more of a chance.

I've never actually had a problem with Sonic's friends. I don't see what the problem is. In fact, the only problem I have with Sonic Generations is Amy, Rouge, and Shadow's voice acting.

@TheBowserone No, Unleashed is a decent game. The Sonic sections are the same as in Colours, and Werehog sections, while repetitive and not as fun, are not as bad as some people make it. It's certainly better than some of the missions in either Super Mario Galaxy game, and better than MOST of the missions in Super Mario Sunshine. At least SEGA are trying more different things than Nintendo, which is sticking to the same formula a little TOO much.
@SonicManEXE If you want to be technical, SEGA DON'T make Sonic games, Sonic Team does. Even if Sonic Team is part of SEGA, if you want to be truly technical, SEGA don't make Sonic games, Sonic Team does.
@ShadowdaHedgie11 They were only good because over time our standards had to drop to accept them as 'good'. Though I'll admit Colors was good. S3&K was the peak of sonic in general, and SA2 was as good as it gets for 3D sonic. That said, Colours and Generations has shown that FINALLY Sonic Team might be onto something as far as good game design goes (lets just ignore Sonic Free Riders, see what I mean by having to lower standards? we have to ignore some games) so lets hope he keeps going up!
@Azure30 I agree that Sonic3&K was probably the best Sonic game so far, but it definately wasn't the peak of Sonic popularity. And no, I don't think Unleashed was good because the games were getting steadily worse, I liked Unleashed because I enjoyed the gameplay of the Day stages and didn't hate the Night stages as much as everyone else does.

I wish they'd just reboot the franchise- set it on another planet so no humans other than Robotnik- wipe away the really bad Sonic characters (Shadow, Silver, Big etc) and just start again. Poor Sonic used to be awesome and now he's... well... he's the laughing stock of the gaming world.

@TheBowserone As for talking about the games... Sonic Unleashed WASN'T a brilliant game, but it wasn't TERRIBLE. The Werehog sections at least worked and were relatively bug-free. Unlike the horribly buggy and glitchy Super Mario Sunshine. Since Sonic Adventure 2, we've had 2 Sonic Rush games, which were great, Sonic Colours, which was also great, Sonic Generations, which despite your bitching about the final boss was EXCELLENT, much better that Super Mario 3D Land, for example.
@ShadowdaHedgie11 You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion- personally, I can't stand Shadow or the others- I think I began to dislike the entire cast as soon as they started speaking to be honest. 'Live and Learn' and 'Open your Heart' are pure cheese in music form and don't suit Sonic games which once had fun/catchy/funky music but if you like it, fair enough.
Sega should burn anyone who worked on Sonic 4 by the way- horrid game. But that's a whoooole other story :)
@ShadowdaHedgie11 The fanbase is so divided now I think that sega should just split the games up- I mean, they sort of are with Sonic 4... but everything about that game was either dull or broken- I'm hoping episode 2 will fix that but I won't get my hopes up. Keep modern Sonic games as the big budget, story driven types for the one set of fans and then bring back classic Sonic for smaller, downloadable games that focus purely on the gameplay I know and love. Should be win/win.

@ShadowdaHedgie11 True- I know a lot of comments are ridiculous- although I prefer the classic look (more character/charm/personality), I don't mind his redesign as it's clearly still Sonic. I'd say the main complaint against Sonic 4 is actually the broken physics, dull, rehashed level design, ugly plastic looking graphics, annoying music, and the fact it was way over priced at launch- I was looking forward to the game and then I played it.

What drags the games down is the new boosting ability, the inability to do the spindash, Sonic being the only playable character, a short amount of levels in each game, andonce you finish one game and collect everything; it gets boring. The gameplay is all that really matters in games, people don't play sonic for storylines or music. And if Shadow's so bad, then why is he the most opoular character in the series.

I play Sonic for the gameplay, story, and the music. and I like all three. I do agree with you on Sonic being the only playable character, but my guess is that starting with Sonic 4 Eps. 2, that is slowly going to change.
@pmd2lolz Because someone got 12 thumbs up for saying people don't play Sonic for storylines. The gameplay is all that really matters in games. Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 all had terrible storylines in my opinion, but it ain't important. Would you play a game that had a good storyline, great music, but VERY horrid gameplay? And I'm not referring to Sonic 4. And I don't hate the boost, I just heavily prefer the spinash.
@pmd2lolz Have you ever played Zoo Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon 2? Neither of them have a storyline at all, but the gameplay was still awsome in both of them (mostly Zoo Tycoon 2). Storylines only matter in books and tv shows & movies. I can only remember Zoo Tycoon only having one song in the entire game, but it was still decent. Zoo Tycoon 2 had more songs, but I don't care at all for music.

@Funkermonster I agree about the boosting thing- the demo of Generations I played made the modern Sonic gameplay so easy- I literally held the button down and watched the scenery fly by. It was fast though. I also agree that gameplay is the most important thing which is why I still play the 2D games (NOT Sonic 4- good God, no). As for Shadow being popular? No idea- I think he's a really lazily designed, whiny ballbag but then I only like the original cast- when they didn't talk.

@Gamer19975 The rest they can keep, but Tails is worth saving. After all, he's the only character they made individual games for. I liked his earlier characterisation, now he's been flanderised to death. To start with he was this cahracter that could keep up with Sonic, even make his own way through the games. Now he's just technical support. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that he's a tech-head, but there's more to him than that.

Sonic new games are pretty good. Sonic Adventure was very good, Sonic Shuffle was okay, but underrated. Sonic Battle was decent. Sonic Advance 1 was near perfect, 2 was ok, 3 was ehh.

@TheBowserone As for talking about the games... Sonic Unleashed WASN'T a brilliant game, but it wasn't TERRIBLE. The Werehog sections at least worked and were relatively bug-free. Unlike the horribly buggy and glitchy Super Mario Sunshine. Since Sonic Adventure 2, we've had 2 Sonic Rush games, which were great, Sonic Colours, which was also great, Sonic Generations, which despite your bitching about the final boss was EXCELLENT, much better that Super Mario 3D Land, for example.

@ShadowdaHedgie11 You're absolutely entitled to your own opinion- personally, I can't stand Shadow or the others- I think I began to dislike the entire cast as soon as they started speaking to be honest. 'Live and Learn' and 'Open your Heart' are pure cheese in music form and don't suit Sonic games which once had fun/catchy/funky music but if you like it, fair enough.
Sega should burn anyone who worked on Sonic 4 by the way- horrid game. But that's a whoooole other story :)

@ShadowdaHedgie11 The fanbase is so divided now I think that sega should just split the games up- I mean, they sort of are with Sonic 4... but everything about that game was either dull or broken- I'm hoping episode 2 will fix that but I won't get my hopes up. Keep modern Sonic games as the big budget, story driven types for the one set of fans and then bring back classic Sonic for smaller, downloadable games that focus purely on the gameplay I know and love. Should be win/win.

@ShadowdaHedgie11 True- I know a lot of comments are ridiculous- although I prefer the classic look (more character/charm/personality), I don't mind his redesign as it's clearly still Sonic. I'd say the main complaint against Sonic 4 is actually the broken physics, dull, rehashed level design, ugly plastic looking graphics, annoying music, and the fact it was way over priced at launch- I was looking forward to the game and then I played it.

What drags the games down is the new boosting ability, the inability to do the spindash, Sonic being the only playable character, a short amount of levels in each game, andonce you finish one game and collect everything; it gets boring. The gameplay is all that really matters in games, people don't play sonic for storylines or music. And if Shadow's so bad, then why is he the most opoular character in the series.

I play Sonic for the gameplay, story, and the music. and I like all three. I do agree with you on Sonic being the only playable character, but my guess is that starting with Sonic 4 Eps. 2, that is slowly going to change.

Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic 3 all had terrible storylines in my opinion, but it ain't important. Would you play a game that had a good storyline, great music, but VERY horrid gameplay? And I'm not referring to Sonic 4. And I don't hate the boost, I just heavily prefer the spinash.

@pmd2lolz Have you ever played Zoo Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon 2? Neither of them have a storyline at all, but the gameplay was still awsome in both of them (mostly Zoo Tycoon 2). Storylines only matter in books and tv shows & movies. I can only remember Zoo Tycoon only having one song in the entire game, but it was still decent. Zoo Tycoon 2 had more songs, but I don't care at all for music.

@Funkermonster I agree about the boosting thing- the demo of Generations I played made the modern Sonic gameplay so easy- I literally held the button down and watched the scenery fly by. It was fast though. I also agree that gameplay is the most important thing which is why I still play the 2D games (NOT Sonic 4- good God, no). As for Shadow being popular? No idea- I think he's a really lazily designed, whiny ballbag but then I only like the original cast- when they didn't talk.

@Gamer19975 The rest they can keep, but Tails is worth saving. After all, he's the only character they made individual games for. I liked his earlier characterisation, now he's been flanderised to death. To start with he was this cahracter that could keep up with Sonic, even make his own way through the games. Now he's just technical support. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that he's a tech-head, but there's more to him than that.

Sonic new games are pretty good. Sonic Adventure was very good, Sonic Shuffle was okay, but underrated. Sonic Battle was decent. Sonic Advance 1 was near perfect, 2 was ok, 3 was ehh.
