The wonderful Chris Adams & Co will be playing "Backstage at The Green" Hotel, Kinross this autumn 2010. Just a great band with great songs.....and just great live!
From what I listened to of Chis Adams recent work. on his website, his voice today is every bit as good as it was way back in the early 1970s, and his composition is just as passionate, as well.
I made a video of String Driven Thing's "Heartfeeder", and Chris Adams saw it and told me I was in copyright violation--so out of respect for him, I deleted it. Then, he told me to re-instate it, because he didn't know I was a fan. Too late--I removed it from my computer and the work was all gone. =(
The sound on this doesn't do justice to SDT. That was a lively gig with a good combination of material for 35-40 years ago (prog-folk?) mixed with newer Chris Adams guitar acoustic. I understand they'll be appearing here again in September?
String Driven Thing were proto-punk in sensibility, but stuck in the dying embers of pre-1977 UK prog rock. Listen to "Circus", also on You Tube, for a taste of how edgy they were. Their black humor, existential bleaknes, stoic humanism and Celine-like absurdity still holds it own even now. I hope some more video of the original group surfaces here.
Don't they have the violinist anymore?

In my opinion "Heartfeeder" is a best song in the world - in the past and now too....I love this song. It rip my soul.( sorry for my english)
