  • very helpful instruction <3

  • I love your videos!

    Some more zipper tips:

    1) Interface the edges of the material. A 1.5" strip on either side makes a world of difference, especially if you're using knit or lightweight fabrics.

    2) I hate the gap at the top of the zipper so I position the zipper so the zipper stop is past the top and cut it off at the end. The waistband will keep the zip from coming off the tracks.

    3) You can bartack the end with your machine as well. Just set it to a wide zigzag and 0 stitch length.

  • One thing that you didn't specify in this video, install the zipper BEFORE you sew any side seams. I installed and ripped out the zipper 3 times before I found that tidbit somewhere else.

  • @lexicalsanctuary Sorry that was confusing for you! It sucks to rip out seams. The skirt was specifically not sewn together at the side seams in this video and sewn together at the beginning of the next video in this series.

  • thank you so much!

  • I have been sewing for years and mostly self taught. That said I had asked my “sew crazy” mother (she learned how to sew from her late 50’s/60’s Home Eck class) how to do this years ago and her way was Exhausting to do. But I thought that was the only way for x-years. I can’t WAIT to send her this fab vid ... sometimes you can teach an ‘old crafter’ new tricks. THANKS.

  • you are good thanx.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! YOU ARE THE DIY GODESS!!!!!! I BOW BEFORE YOU!!

  • Um so.... I love you. Like so much right now. :)

  • just a tip that my sewing teacher told me =) wet a little bit the zipper before iron the teeth, it makes it easier

  • I have a fear of sowing zippers. Let alone an invisible zipper. I bow before you.

  • I just love your pins hahah I'm bored of those plastic colored little balls that I have >.<

  • wow! not confusing at all

  • This was very helpful thank you so much and just wanted to let others know you can also do this on a zipper if you put it in the side also.

  • You make sewing invisible zippers so easy!

  • thank you so much for this video, I actually bought an invisible zipper foot and my needle didn't pass the tiny hole, so I could never sew an invisible zipper. Not anymore muajajaja.

  • Pfoe, a lot of new info in your skirt series, at least for me. I'm not an expert, not at all, it looks so difficult for me xP. But maybe after some time I'll understand it better xD. Very good and detailed explained!!

  • Great Tutorial! I don't know how many times I got a zipper all sewn in and looking perfect only to find out when trying on the garment, that it was inside-out!

  • Great video and great background music too :-)

  • @craftovision @aglanceatmyworld I also use a regular zipper foot for all kinds of zippers! I agree that it is much less hassle for the same result!

  • This vid is awesome! i have sewing zippers! thanks! this will help heaps!

  • I didn't know there was such a thing as an invisible zipper foot. I've always just used a regular zipper foot.

  • Wow, this is the simplest method for invisible zippers that I've seen. Thanks! And thanks for illustrating how to shorten the zipper.

  • i like it how she says "YOU R AWESOME" u can do this

haha it makes me wanna make it ;D

  • @musiclover1ism Go make it! :D

The worst that can happen is you don't get it right the first time. But if that happens, just try again! You'll have a better understanding of what NOT to do on your next try!

She replied on one of my comments on a previous video to use muslin, because it's a cheap fabric you can practice with. I'm going to give it a go, too!

  • did you use fabric scissors when you cut the zipper or used a new pair?

  • @Asnov that's a good question!

  • love the ensemble!

  • Thank you for showing how to do with with out an invisible zipper foot! I'll definitely have to use this for any of the nicer dress I make!

  • Extremely helpful. Thanks

  • Awesome! I've never seen an invisible zipper sewn in with a regular zipper foot...very helpful :)

  • @aglanceatmyworld Yea, it is definitely not the way you are "supposed" to do it. But I spent $30 on my invisible zipper foot and I actually hate using it. Using the regular zipper foot to sew an invisible zipper would make a lot of seamtresses cringe. I like to push the envelope a bit. haha!

  • I've got an unrelated question, how did you do your hair? I really love that style :)

  • @Silyah246 secretlifeofabionerd has a lot of tutorials for that kind of hairstyles :]

  • i feel a bit daft asking but what happened to the in between video. You'v gone from making the pattern to adding a zipper. Did i miss the video cutting the fabric and adding darts?

  • @tiffbott41 yeah u did, 2 vids actually ^_^

  • @tjeni when i checked she'd actually put them up after. so at the time i was right. Just impatient!

  • thank you so much, corinne! this one comes so handy right now, i will try it tonight with my new skirt. :)

  • 'Invisible zipper foot' sounds like a band name.

  • @tetsubo57 Hahahaha!!!...So true !!!
