Actually Darkseid was created before Apocalypse.

You got it the other way round, Apocalypse would be the Darkseid rip off, since he was created long after Darkseid.

His name is even similar to the name of Darkseid's planet/domain. But you can't hold that against him Apokolips is a cool name.

Like Darkseid and Doomsday, Darkseid and Galactus have already fought. John Byrne set them against each other in Darkseid/Galactus: The Hunger Within. Darkseid shot the Omega Effect at Galactus head-on and it did nothing at all. He was a flea to Galactus, though he did manage to shred the hell out of the Silver Surfer in a single shot.
