Damn he has tinnitus and still does the damn thing! WOW. I believe I was recently suffering from this coming off of a super painful tooth infection that I believe spread to an ear infection. I have played guitar forever but all of a sudden I couldn't take ANY treble. I could handle a little but not much at all, its like I heard the treble registers 4 million times more sensitive than normal, loud was out of the question but treble was the real enemy, I am getting better now but still sucks.
Fender now makes Jeff Beck replica fingers in Thailand. Apparently they're modeled on his pre-Yardbirds era, and are randomly included in Squire products as a guerilla marketing tactic.
I love how Jeff uses like 2 tiny Fender champs live, and just plays them through the PA. You really don't need a huge stack of amps to have a killer sound.
I saw him in Montreal 6th row this past summer and took many picture of his pedals, still got the pictures on my camera never checked them out...got busy! I saw him just last week, obviously blown away and was curious how he gets his sound. I'll check those pics out and post.

Don't you think it REALLY came from years of playing in front of a wall of cranked amps . ? If it were caused by a cymbal crash, don't you think EVERY drummer would have tinnitis ? Come ON...
OK you guys.. First of all i love JB, and totally agree that most of his sound comes from his fingers... BUT.. I swa him just recently in perth Aust.. He had a lrage pedal board in front of him that he didnt use much...
I was up in the stalls.. after the show as i left, I could actually look down and see what he had BEHIND his rig.. it was huge..What was going on there?
I'm starting to get it, and I actually find it kind of soothing. Lots of people have it, essentially anybody who's been playing since ~1990. Paul Gilbert to Al Di Meola: It's why Meola stopped ripping like he used to on Elegant Gypsy, to stop trashing his hearing.
The guy on the left is Alan Rogan. Pete Townsend's guitar tech. Also has worked for the Stones, AC/DC, Joe Walsh ++++ Yeah, he has plenty of pocket change and a few cool guitars.
but its almost impossible to achieve his tone, even if i would get up on stage during one of his shows, grab his guitar and play one of his songs, it wouldnt sound the same, because i dont have the amazing controll over my guitar that he has:P

Actually live he uses a Fender Pro Jr, not a Champ. I believe he uses a Champ in the studio though, an old tweed one.

I saw JB back in '95 in a 8k seat ampitheatre opening for Santana and all he had were two old Plexi Marshall half-stacks and about four pedals.
I thought that's what he always used.

No, it's DSL (Dual Super Lead) DS-1 is a distortion pedal
stutty1400 2 years ago
Jeff is using the Klon distortion pedal. I don't think he ever used a Boss DS-1 that I can recall.

I think he did use a Rat at one time. I don't know when the Rat got yanked from his set up.

@thebibleisalltrue thought he used a snarling dog....
das728 1 year ago
@das728 He did on the "You Had it Coming" record. I think he used the Snarling Dog on the record after that too. He used a Rat for years before that.

Most people keep a JTM45's bass eq from 0-2. Its a different animal...your gonna need more bass eq for an amp like most fenders.
