  • Great tutorial man. There was something great about the simplicity of these earlier versions of Reason which has been lost in the complexity of the current V5.

  • fucking serial killer

  • this is literally one of the oldest videos i've ever seen

  • @bandrews0526 2005, god damn who even knew about youtube then!

  • If anybody wants a beginners Reason tutorial that is understandable, here is a good one: reasontutorial.be

  • can i plug my guitar direct to sound card with reason pro ???????? plz

  • pretty ok tutorial i learned a lil from it like usin switch mode...thanks

  • so i'm in my device folder on my combinator, and i want to assign my rotary knobs/buttons from thor on to my combinater knobs/buttons.. And should i also assign my buttons to? In forhand, thanks if you give a respons, the help will be much appreciated!

  • Awesome tutorial! Where are you getting your samples from? I get mine right now from Drumsoundz(dot)com and I get all my samples and loops there. Anyone know of any other good places?

  • you should do hypnosis

  • i need help, for some reason i hear no sound, can u help me out???

  • is this the first version??

  • tnx

  • i need help with reason, i just bought a m-audio keyrig 49 midi keyboard, and i got reason 4, and when i record some thing right the levels of what i record arnt the same how can i change them, or do something so it always stays the same...

  • thats cause ur keyboard keys are velocity sensitive...

  • you talk too much get to the point

  • I did a Reason 4 tutorial as well. Mine's on using Thor as a switchable/ programmable filter inside a Combinator patch.

Check it out if you'd like, it's my first one!

  • you can do without the recycle crap at the beginning. if i wanted to know recycle, id be looking up recycle

  • I just purchased Reason 4 a couple of days ago. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this tutorial. I've learned quite a bit from this video alone. Don't let the haters get to you if they don't like your tutorial they should change the channel.

  • nice, if u make some songs let me hear

  • you think this guys excelent you should check out people like lucky date and boy in a band, they are actual proper tutorials worth watching.

  • Dude you suck at doing tutorials, how you gonna talk over the beat when no one can hear what you saying?

  • hehe...just because Tom is good dick can't bad...

  • I m pro and working with both Reason and FL I found that the easiest way to transfer your melody to the pc is FL but the midi response is very low in FL as compared to the Reason. When u increase sample quality i.e. u use many 24-bit samples in FL it degrades the track live playback perfomance. Reason Runs very smoothly wtih plenty of 24bit stuff.

So for Studio quility music songs productions I use Reason and for transfer my idea immidiately to the machine i use FL. Reason cost more than FL.

  • great tut,how dya manage to shift all the left frequencies without touching the right dynamics?ive tried a delay with a short ms setting linked to a reverb with a locked gate but it just seems to bounce em right back at me!please help

  • If you want to see what fl can make...then click my usernam ! Though in my latest track called silence of souls i ve used also reason 3,0 ...!

  • i do not spam , i just saw the dispute betwwen reason and fl users ...! I have to agree that reason has better sounds etc... but fl is a very good if you have the rights vstis like nexus , or z3ta etc..! But fl can make some prosounds just clikc my username !

  • fl and reason are both good a real producer should have both. dont limit yourself to one piece of software

  • my friend is studying at some kick ass school in Amsterdam where he get to lern from really famus guys like tenaglia zabiela rush he said that after reason 4 showed up everybody went crazy.THOR GROOVE CONTROL ARPGGIATOR those new things are fuckin sweet.some real great stuff can be made with reason as long as u got the right equipment to go with it & as for FL is good 'cause it gives u the basic idea of how to begin to create ur own stuff but it's a toy and that's what toys do.4proreason-ableton

  • If you say that FL is for kids, that means you haven't created there anything good and you're not talented at all. FL is not for you, and Reason too. The latest FL is better than Reason 4, it has more options, more ways to create music, more everything. The only thing FL lacks is good stock sounds. You need additional VST's to get the sound you want. Though, the quality of the song will NOT be worse, than created in Reason. Both programs are very professional and you shouldn't underestimate them

  • I agree almost thoroughly, but I don't think latest FL is better than Reason 4 though, of course it depends on what music you make, but you can operate reason to sound pretty authentic when you make jazz or classical, and FL seem to cut soundpeaks and make a more compact sound, wich is fine when you make electronica. Still there are VST's that can help one there but that kind of takes the originality out of the whole creation. I get you're point though, they are both very professional.

  • I think Reason is superior in many ways to FL but I still like FL for many reasons, the sound of the 3xOsc, the ease of beat programming, the fact that you don't forget the idea before you actually put it down, lol. Some things are great in FL, the approach is different, but the overall sound and complexity and posibilities are definitely on another level in Reason. And I think that's the idea, FL just want to keep it simple, if you want more you plug in some Vsti's (Absynth, etc...)

  • reason sound is better than fl

  • if u really think that listen to this beat that he jus made in this vid and listen to my beats its a BIG difference.

  • yeh no doubt Reason is way better. Pros use that shit. just search for reason beat making on here then search for FL... there's a shitload of FL videos where these kids download their illeagal bootleg version and feel the need to post em on here. FL is a toy. Next to Pro Tools, Reason is the best out.

  • this sounds a lot better than your stuff saint.

  • the sound quality dont

  • Reason DOES sound better

Reason is pro, FL is for kids at home

  • suck my nuts

  • Yeah but can't you create professional music with both? I mean in fl studio if you have good vst? Or is there something about fl studio that doesn't allow you to make good quality music? I'm asking, because I really want to get pro sound quality in my tracks and im using fl and I really wouldn't like to spend a fortune on reason just to make the sound quality better.

  • Well, the samples reason has are a lot better in quality than FL. On the flip side, FL is a lot easier to learn, smaller learning curve. There're no rules that say FL is for kids, though. Look at Basshunter. That's how he started, and his whole first album is such.

  • Reason is real good but the sound quality is not better than F L Studio

  • lol

  • Why everybody talks like they hust woke up...???

  • It was alright. You showed us some neat stuff but I don't think all of those extra vocal saples sounded good with the beat. It was too much..... Very nice demonstration of Dr. Rex and recycle though.

  • your forgot cubase noob

  • ya like the other dude said. i mean it really just depends on who uses it. u gotta kno how to mix things well on any of these programs. i use ableton live and fl studio mostly, but reason is hot shit too

  • Very cool tour. I'm always learning. Thank you.

  • that was very helpful, thankyou

  • It is true that there is a "reasonesque" feel to many songs if they are produced by the unexperienced. But trust me. You CAN get great sound with Reason !

Prodigy's AONO was produced mainly with ProTools and Reason. I think the sound quality was quite good, wasn't it...

  • Dude I couldn't watch the whole thing. your voice is so uninspiring! Listen to yourself. Is that how you would prefer to sound? P.S. I mean this in the most constructive way possible.

  • Reason Rulezzz!!!

  • thanks that part about the drums helped me!

  • your voice almost sent me to sleep man

  • Sorry people it was a long nite... That tutorial is over a year old...

  • How do I load my own .wavs that are just in my music folder?

  • You want to use the NN-XT or NN-19 for that.. I'll be posting a tutorial on that very soon...

  • Man this is a dope Tutorial. I use the same shit so this help me learn more of both recycle and reason, good look.

  • Really appreciate you helping all of us out. Mucho Respecto!

i hate when people say that the sounds on fruity loops suck uuhh duhh thats why you add your own samples GOSHHH people are retarded

  • im sorry to comment but it realy sucks! 100% sucks!

  • is that the name of the program ? is it in reason cuz i just started tryen to use reason but cant get ne where until i get a midi keyboard but the way that the program u used to chop was sick how it automatically chops is like that is sick takes me for ever to do that in wave lab get at me homie good looks peace
