  • I used to have this video game system!

  • This thing is just the Sega CD in it's own console.

Atleast it was released unlike the SEGA neptune.

  • @jeffsteff7 OMFG!! I HAD THE KRISS KROSS GAME TOOOO!!!!

  • My X'eye came with PrizeFighter, some encyclopedia shit and Kris Kross Make your video or some shit. So many memories... I'm beginning to wish I never threw mine away once Sega Saturn came out... :(

  • Thats Why The Console Looked Like The Wondermega! Or Am I Wrong...

  • @bennyboybackup8 That's because the X'Eye is the US version of the Model 2 Wondermega released in Japan. The model 1 Wondermega (that we never got) looked a HELL of a lot sexier.

  • Wholly crap! I just flashed back to when I was 13 years old! God, time flies. I actually got an X'EYE from Incredible Universe when they first came out. I still have it and it still works like it's brand new! Funny thing is how my X'EYE still works, yet I've replaced my Xbox twice, my 360 four times, and my PS3 once. And don't get me started on my old Dreamcast...Fu**ing POS!

  • This almost sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  • Genesis - Turn It On Again

  • I have this console. Its a Sega CD and Genesis in one. Mine just arrived today.

  • actually this is a us version of the wondermega

    why?

cuz JVC(known as victor in japan) also made the wondermega

  • It's the same music of mega cd , and wondermega!

  • Are you fucking 9?

  • yeah thats y i know what it means in all im totally nine are you still a dam fetus?

  • Really bad grammar there.

  • Really mommy I did have bad grammer!!! I didnt notice i just totaly utterly did not notice cuz Youtube is a place for grammer right/?? because Ur not even making a point let alone a decent comeback. OH NO!! THIS BIG MEAN LADDY TOLD ME I HAVE BAD GRAMMER AHHHHHHH!!!!! U think some 1 will actually care??? U took real long 2 respond anyway did u have to check ur grammer for aproximately 2 weeks???

  • @haxor345 Just a quick note, you sound more intelligent and make a point better of you actually prove your point in your response. "OMG i hav so much god grammer" just makes people laugh at you.

  • @haxor345

    "grammar"...moron.

  • I don't remember where I got it from, but I had rediscovered this in my garage and it's now hooked up and ready to play some incoming Sega CD I ordered. Can't wait

  • Just picked one of these up yesterday at a video game store for $65. Wanted to play some of my older games and liked that the X'Eye is a bit smaller in size for my entertainment stand. Read online too that the X'Eye improves the Sega CD audio.

  • never heard of it

  • actually they arent worth too much unles they are boxed/sealed.

I paid like $110 shipped, then sold it for system only for $115

  • man da music is soooooo annoying o_O

  • not really...i kinda find it fitting since that is what i'm using that for my intro when i review games in the future on my page.

  • Hehe, my first console.

    Got it back in 94.

It still works too. Its funny. I've had 6 xbox 360 get the RROD on me and this baby still works. Wow.

  • Wow, you may be the only person on earth who's had this as their first console. :O

Yeah, it seems like the older the system, the longer they last.

I have an Atari 2600 that's ~30 years old and I hooked it up and the thing works flawlessly.

  • That's funny... I have a JVC camera 0_o

  • What are these things worth anyways? I just copped a lot deal with like 32 games and a jvc x eye system.

  • I will tell you one thing, they are worth a shit load of money, Around 200 - 600 Dollars, thats just for a used one.

  • Can you send me this song, please? I like it.

  • lol its the origanal start up by sega

  • My point exactly! That's why I love this song! I'm asking him very nicely if he can send it to me.

  • oh I thought you meant it was a diffrent song

    lol sorry

  • It's OK. I'm glad you realized your mistake.

  • I got one of these things for $30 At a yard sale (With Sonic 2 of course) Too bad the SEGA CD part of it doesn't work no more... <_<

  • YOU MUST POST THE FULL 3 MINUTES of this.

  • Where do I get one? Not that I want want witch I dont

  • Oh yes you do!

    It's totally obvious.

  • Uhh, I didnt say I wanted one, I just wanna know where there from

  • The console was Made In Japan.

    Manufacture date: August 1994

  • Sega CD 2.00 which I have, intro looks way better than this system's.

  • THE COLORS!!!! :o

  • At least the Mega-CD music made it to NA.

  • It looks 1993. Not gay. Thank you.

  • Can you put the whole startup here?

  • do they still even make the xeye? i know they discontinued the scd, but did they with xeye?

  • JVC X'EYE only sold about 100,000 units, so I'm pretty sure they discontinued it :)

  • 100,000 may be a little bit on the high estimate. ~10,000 units would be a little bit more accurate.

X'eye pretty much bombed in North America due to its' ridiculously high price ($499.00, it eventually went on clearance at key retailers) and came out pretty late in the 16-bit Sega era.

Too bad JVC removed the SVHS port on the USA version, that would have been a nice addition to have. Also, X'eye systems tend to fail because of a bad CD pinswitch. Be careful if purchasing one secondhand.

  • I was gonna bid on a JVC X'Eye on Ebay, for a great price of $35.00; too bad some collector bid $300 more...

  • I was going to bid on it for about the same low, but now its 60 dollars and climbing... shoot..

  • That S-video port would have been unnecessary. The composite AV cable serves the purpose well the system.

  • I agree the X'eye looks just fine with composite A/V, but having S-Video really does make a crisper, noticable difference when you compare the two side by side.

It's possible to actually modify the USA version with a SVHS port, I just don't know how to do it myself.

  • wow mine doesnt do all that during startup... that sux... ok im over it

  • MY GOODNESS! THIS IS THE SEGA CD's STARTUP THEME!! O.O

  • Umm... Actually, it is Mega-CD's theme. Sega CD never used this music.

  • I found an X'eye console at value village and it came with the box and everything brand new.

  • Nice! Now can you put the whole video on?

  • So The X'EYE was made when Courtney's Born (Wich was about 1993).

  • whut

  • Hmm interesting it uses the Mega CD Bios Music

  • So the Japanese music DID make it into North America

  • o yea i have one even tho iw anna sell it

  • Far out, man!

  • Did the X'eye ever released in Europe?

  • Unfortunately no, they never released the X'eye/Wondermega variant by Victor in Europe/PAL format, but they did release the Sega CD-X under the name "Multi-Mega".

  • That's cool, it's the same music as the European and Japanese MegaCD bios. I'm thinking about either getting an X'EYE or a CDX, which one would you recomend?

  • I'd like an X'EYE myself.

  • I haven't tried a CDX, so I don't know much about it... But another cool feature of the X'EYE is the CD player controls... When you are playing a music CD in it, you can loop any part you want, (kinda like a sampler) using one of the Fire Buttons. You push it once for the start point, then again for the end point, and it will repeat that segment of the CD until you push the button again. Handy for learning guitar solos or certain parts of songs...

  • That's actually really cool, I guess the only real advantages of a CDX are it's size and how you can use it as a portable CD player.

  • As a person who owns a CD-X, you're not missing much. The startup is the same as the regular top-loading Sega CD; the only differences are the BIOS version and disc status messages.

The CD-X can accept two AA batteries to enable its use as a portable CD player (it does not play Sega CD and Genesis with the batteries), but what's the point? It's too big to be used as a portable, even by 1993-1994 standards.

  • BTW, I also own the X'Eye.

As cool as the CD-X is, I fancy the X'Eye over that. The X'Eye is easier to take apart in the event that it requires repair, and the optical pickup is both durable and, if it does break, a relatively common JVC pickup; lots of top-load Sega CDs (not all of them since some used Samsung pickups) and even Saturns used the same pickup and are completely interchangeable.

  • Is this a PAL X'eye or a NTSC?

  • It is NTSC, North America/USA version.

  • Wow! That's much colourful that like!

  • Lot of Thanks Master ManRayDali for this video, i never seen before X' eye´s boot-up. Cheers ^o^

  • What's cool is that the X'Eye music we're hearing is also the Mega CD theme that's heard in the European and Japanese consoles.
