A really great video - not just interesting but fun too! I am from London uk, and I went to Tombstone in 97 - one of the best days of my life - just wish I had had more time to stay longer. I had a fun afternoon - mostly in Big Nose Kates Saloon!
Commander zarkon ....good vid mate, im from liverpool england, doc holliday is a legend and its good people like urself take time out to do an intresting video like this.hat is off to u mate.best wishes from over the atlantic.
Thank you! I am glad that you liked the vid, and honored by your comments. Have you ever been in the US? If you ever visit a trip through the West would offer a great vacation. Tombstone, AZ is another great spot. Been there several times but have to make a vid.
@CommanderZarkon I just found this and it brought back fond memories. I lived in Glenwood Springs and played pool at Doc Holliday's many times. Great bar and I always loved that old cash register. Whether Doc's buried there or not, his memory will always be honored in Glenwood.
Thanks. It's a nice area. There are even the hot spring nearby which are very nice. In October I believe, they have ghost tours of that graveyard and its really interesting with actors acting like the old characters telling you about their past and how they died.
Well now, proffromgview, here you come as a blowhard naysayer, disparaging my video and insulting me for no good reason. I am actually conservative and a supporter of the NRA.
Why do you take the time to insult me for no reason?
@CommanderZarkon Sigh. A long time ago, my grandma told me about real cowboys and "drugstore cowboys." I never forgot the distinction. Let me guess, are you from New York or New Jersey??
Awww, here you are trying to accuse me of being a hippie/yuppie and a drugstore cowboy, and your grandma had to tell you who the real cowboys are.
Let me guess, you're the kind who wears your name on the back of your belt so the truckers know who they're gonna screw. Clearly you have nothing better to do between sucking off your boyfriend and playing midnight cowboy than to insult people you don't know for no reason.
Now go back to playing Rump Ranger Gets Ridden Again.
@CommanderZarkon A long time ago I learned that those who yap on and on about whatever sexual fantasies come to mind (like we all did in junior high) usually are involved in the same. I notice your pre-occupation with homosexuality, so I'm guessing you have some issues there. To each his own, but like I said, you're some phony from NY or NJ...playing out a western fantasy (like the Village People, huh)....
Wrong again, fagosabe. You're the one who needed granny to tell you what a real cowboy is, & you call me a poser. All you have are videos of western movies with actors playing roles. Yeah that’s REAL cowboy stuff!
It takes a moron like you to try labeling a man’s worth based on geography. But look at you: I’ll bet you’re all sorts of real western cowboy-all the way West from San Francisco! So shush! Shuuush! Everything’s gonna be ok. Drink some warm milk, cuddle up in your Barney PJs, remember what your grandma said, & dream about being a real cowboy someday.
Speaking of yapping there, Johnny Tyler, that seems to be your forte. All your talk of real cowboys & posting videos of John Wayne, & you spend your time insulting people you don't know from behind a keyboard. Now what kind of a person does that other than a sorry little bully wannabe who craves attention & needs to put others down to feel better about his petty little self, aye? I’m afraid all you’ve done is prove that if there’s a poser here, it’s you.
But I will no longer provide you with the attention you so desperately crave.
Yer blocked fella! There aint no mouthy little sissy boys allowed ‘round here! So fill yer hand you son of a bitch! (though it’ll be with a strapon no doubt).
Maybe you should take heed of something John Wayne said:
"I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.
You came close to Holidays grave. He is about 30 yards to the right of the memorial. There is a stone in the ground sticking up with xxx on it. This stone was put there by the man who buried him. The man was the local handyman that Doc befriended and stood up for when the locals picked on him. The handyman took Docs death very hard and took it upon his self to bury him.
I always figured his family had him taken back to Georgia. There is a grave close to my Mom's in Tenn. of a young girl who died in California in 1851 & was taken back to Tenn. Not an easy trip back then.
Oh I should mention, you can find his sister's grave, his dad's and his mother's grave in the cemetery. Doc is not that far from them. It's a well-kept family secret where he is exactly . One day they might decide to exhume his remains to prove he is Holliday. But we that know need no proof.
You won't find Doc's grave out west. It is in a family cemetary in Georgia. His Dad has his body sent back to GA via train and he lies in an unmarked grave with a slab of concrete his dad had placed over it. I have been there.
Yeah, if you go in the summer it will be about 100 degrees. There is local legend that Doc was actually buried in a basement in town, to keep anyone from stealing the body. Could be true, the folks from Cody tried to steal Buffalo Bill. That's why we have him under concrete. Supposedly there is a person in town that knows where Doc is and the secret is passed down every generation like something in a Dan Brown novel.
Just messing with ya. I did that hike a few years back with a friend of mine who was National Guard. He thought it would be fun to race to the grave. Needless to say I lost.
When a friend and I were in Glenwood Springs recently, we didn't know that Doc Holliday supposedly died in a hotel, which once stood on the corner of a busy intersection in the downtown area. All we knew was that the traffic light was slow, and we kept getting stuck at a red light there. Meanwhile, conceivably, a piece of history was right outside our car windows.
The only woman I ever read of Doc being with was "Big Nose Kate". Except for her large nose she was a beautiful (prostitute) woman. She died in 1940. Doc lived in Leadville, Colorado which is a beautiful area. He thought the elevation might help his condition. Where he died is just a ways down the road. The sulfer springs might have actually shortened his life. Current interstates and roads follow the old cattle trails in Colorado.
It is unknown what became of Doc's guns. Often guns were given to the undertaker as payment for funeral. It is also unknown wheather the undertaker actually buried Doc or simply "dumped" his body around the side of the mountain to save having to dig a grave in the winter. All we can do is simply wish the man peace that really didn't find it in life. In an autobiography on Doc...he claimed Wyatt Earp was his only friend. How sad...
I've heard that about the knife. As is often the case, balls and agression often get the upperhand. How's that saying: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog". I do wish Doc peace. He must've had a lot of bitterness and lonelyness. But it's great to know he had a friend in Wyatt.
Doc is reported to not be fast, nor accurate in a gunfight. Doc was ready to die which made him deadly. He was not concerned with wheater he lived or died. He was in great pain most his life. People claim he got the "consumption" from his mother. The pain was constant. He couldn't make a legitimate living because he coughed constantly and people were afraid of his condition. He was very good with a knife and nearly cut a man's head off in a dispute. He died at a very young age of 36.
Thanks! That was great! As for utubetomo's comment about it being borderline disrespect for Doc, I disagree completely! I don't know how they could get that impression! This was a great video!
Guys, whoever told you that Doc Holliday was moved to Georgia is scamming tourists. He's still buried somewhere in Pioneer Cemetery, Glenwood Springs. Since no one knows exactly where he's buried, it was impossible for his descendants to exhume and move him. I'll never go there again, though, (although it's a pleasant trail) because they replaced the more interesting and older tombstone with a stupid new one. Idiots.
Very cool you got to go there. They say his family moved him back here to Georgia....I am going to go visit Oak Hill Cemetery...my grandma is buried there...freaked me out when I heard he was moved there. There is another grave site at the place you went to...they added one that actually said "Doc Holliday" on it....check it out on wikipedia at the bottom of the page where it says "More pics of graves".
You are right Major Holliday went and got his son and brought him back to Griffin Ga where he is buried.Bill Dunn does have a museum here and it is awesome.I am proud to be born and raised in the same town of John Henry Holliday.I like doc so much I have a tattoo of him on my leg of his original pic. of him in college.
You wont find him there because he isn't there. His father Henry Holliday and his cousin, Robert Holliday took his body and returned it to Georgia. (Doc's home state) He is buried in Griffin Georgia (hometown) next to his father in Oakhill Cemetery. His sister is buried across the street. Mother in Valdosta I think. Doc's dentist office still stands there as well as his home and there used to be a steakhouse called John Henry's named after him.
djedge my good sir, you are one confused man, why sir even the earps paid tribute to the australian outlaws, plus doc did not die with his boots on,my self being raised in the mountians, and a gentle man, my self would have been to fast, for doc, best of luck sir,if only you knew me and my friends.
I guarantee Doc would have cut down any aussy outlaw that went up against him. Doc died peacefully in bed "with his boots off" which isn't the way he expected to die. He lived every day like it was his last, and it very well might have been. The man was fearless. Rest in peace Doc. Save a seat at the card table for me. :)

Doc Holliday died in the 1880s from consumption (TB). His girlfriend
Big Nose Kate lived to be almost 90. Died in 1940, the year I was born.
If you visit Tombstone, Arizona or Wikipedia, you can see pictures of
Kate. Nothing unusual about her nose.
