  • That's one scrawny rabbit!

  • Looking forward to your Rabbit Stew recipe video!

  • That is great music to skin an animal to.

  • do you keep the pelts?

  • great video

  • do you ate it?

  • man thank u for spending ur x and showing us.but i have a question how'd u start?and did u eat the body or just the legs?thx

  • hey dude i think all of your videos of rabit snaring is awesome ive been tyring to do it i juts set up 2 of these snares that u use and im digging around a 3 feet pit with concave walls on another trail also

  • apatizing

  • this is very helpful. my dad swore up and down that he would teach me how to trap and never did. i got curious and your videos were the first to pop up. thanks! i'll have to try this sometime soon when i'm at the farm. :)

  • rabbits look so different without their fur coats on...

  • good job u dont really cut through the bone u cut to it and twist

  • I'm sure that you've probably answered this before, but what kind of knife are you using? It looks like it cuts through bone very easily. Thank you. Your new friend - Missy

  • I love the songs on your vids dude...great job

    Cheers

  • Good vid. One thing I would suggest though. Check the the liver for Tularemia it is easy to do and is very evident. I have found it in several Muskrat I have caught.

  • I always like the Backstrap best. But I like the idea of leaving the rest of that stuff in the woods.

  • Thnx for this nice vid! Really usefull

  • Do you have any videos/tutorials on recipes for rabbits?

  • that funky jazz gets me in the groove for skinnin rabbits

  • dude can you make a vid on skinning rabbit the way trappers do it?

  • Cheers for the vids by the way, very educational.

  • The only problem with snares is when the rabbit gets pinched by foxes or other people.

Its not a bad method if you need to control the population but I like to use a .22 rifle to catch my supper.

  • That looks extremely easy.

  • ive been camping before and seen this done but i wasnt exactly sure how to do it.thanks to your video my memory got a boost.

  • Interesting, but this song is so anoying, only because it's over used.

  • that rabbit was skinney

  • What is with the music choice? Drowning pool for cleaning?

Not exactly the most respectful choice... Did you put that on or was it google?

  • YouTube removed my original choice...

  • Well that is good to hear, i didn't think anyone above the maturity level of a teenager would do that.

NOTE to all, google (which bought youtube) is the reason for this music on the vid, not northernpike56

  • hey man thanks alot with these fishing and snare videos help me alot

  • do u need to drain the blood?

  • Nope...

  • soo you dont gut it before? you just pull the fur off and let the guts fall out?

  • I always skin it first then remove the guts (with a knife) after...

  • @shithawkguy The fur isn't in contact with the guts there is skin.

  • just like a hair cut!!!

  • im mean for taking the fur off?

  • I only use my hands to remove the fur...no knife :-)

  • ok. thanks!

  • do you need to use a knife at all?

  • ya know, I bet this is a good way to get some healthy, lean meat for cheap or free. sure, not everyone could do this, but if they could....

  • wow

  • hey nice video I am always a big fan of your videos. I am also a big fan of survival and tried out one of your traps on your video but no luck yet. I am trying to catch some rabbit but i cant seem to catch them i was wondering what bait i should use right now i am trying cherries looking foward to your reply

  • I never use bait :-)

  • Thanks for the reply, I was talking about your box trap video actually, and i was wondering what sort of bait i should use to catch rabbits......

  • Penutbutter :D everyone loves it

  • Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poor rabbit but that isnt what I focuse more in is how grows it is wackawakca yucky but men rabbits are easy to peel. hahhahahha dont slip with the rabbit fur!

  • Damn! I didn't know it slides off that easy! I'll use that technique when I"m stuck int the woods for a week with no food. Thanks buddy!@

  • 100% correct

  • what the hell are you talking about i guess you are 14 and not a prick what does that have to do with anything grow up or try to come back at me with something better then what i said and no im not 14 im 25 my balls have droped so things like this doesnt get to me in anyway its part of life laren to live with it or stfu bottom line

  • i hate PRICKS like

oharov real live pricks suck a dick and stfu befor you end up in a snare

  • i assume you are 14.. and not a PRICK. now, that's nice

  • Great how to video! Made me crave rabbit roasted over hard wood coals with a bit of salt, wild onions and wild garlic

  • PETA is a bunch of queers we were made to eat meat.

  • peta is made of psychos that's true, and we need to eat meat. but setting traps instead of hunting.. well that's the only thing which can be cruel and gay at the same time.

  • small game is not cruel...rabbit snares are not cruel as lets say...deer or 500 lbs bear snare...that is cruel they suffer, this small ones are gone fast. use rifles or compound bows for big game (bows have bigger trauma impact force than bullet)

  • Hey watch it i'm part of PETA the good one that is

    People Eating Tasty Animals

  • I love when I see vegitarians eat eggs and drink milk. LOL. Awsome vid and music!

  • your videos are really informative and I'm guessing the muzac is to completely piss off those who find hunting/trapping offensive! hahaha

  • well thanks for showing me the rabbit that was already eaten not 1 u just cought

  • typicly once you skin a ribbit is gutting it as simple as cutting down the bellt and pulling it all out?any tricks?

  • ha i love that song!

  • Fuck PETA the dick eater.

  • LET THE BUNNIES HIT THE FLOOR!

  • Was your music choice really necessary?

PETA hates you as it is.

Oh and good vid ! Thanks.

  • Actually yes, the original music I put with this vid was removed due to a copyright claim...

There is not much music to choose from when it comes AudioSwap...Guess I could have replaced my original track with some gospel music.

Oh and PETA are entittled to their own opinion...doesn't bother me.

  • PETA is bull shit.

  • you need to explain what your doing instead of having music playing...

  • you should alredy know how to do this.

  • what you do is cut the skin along the stomach ( without cutting into the stomach or it will spoil the meat) then ripping the fur off. then turn the rabbit upside down and cut a slit along its stomach. as you turn the rabbit right side up, the stomach and intestines should fall out, and anything that doesnt can be scooped out with ease. Then, break the ribs along the center and cut a slit of skin to pull out the heart and a few other bits and bobs. there, you are done.

  • i really like that method of skinning because all u did was kit around the feet pulled then doun and cut accross the frount it's good because you can take off the skin with out damaging it to much and use it fo other things

  • idk how you just pulled the fur right off with out any cuts. I just started to ripe off pices of his furr till it was all of

  • I didn't know you just start like that with no knife. Do you have to cut first before you peel on the legs like that? Never did it before but I know the info is useful.

  • No knife, just hands.

  • road kill

  • let the bunnies hit the floor

  • WARNING:

If you are a wussy that thinks the meat on your table falls outta the sky in the foam tray and cellophane, you will be sorry for watching this video. Please go back to watching "Days of Our Lives."

  • RIGHT ON

  • o m g

  • I always grab the rabbit by the back with both hands and tear the skin, pulling it apart . no knife required. Then take all the "goodies" out of the body, And have a full cleaned bunny. And I love the song you put with the video!!!

  • why did u changed the song?

Led Zeppelin - Kashmir was great!

  • Got hit with an audio copyright...and was only given the option of using "AudioSwap" that didn't have much to choose from.

Sry...I liked Led Zeppelin - Kashmir too :-(

  • wilderness survival rule : never clean a kill/game at camp or anywhere near camp

this is to keep scavengers and predators from entering your shelter...you dont want a bear or skunk roaming around when you sleep...lol

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm.lol. great vid. can you do anythin with the furs?

  • Yes, but rabbit fur isn't the best pelt.

  • i haven't done this since i was a kid cool vid*****

  • what are some characteristics of a rabbit trail? there is a local preserve near me and one place, a meadow with human height grasses has game trails criss crossing all over it. How can i tell whats rabbit, deer, etc.

  • The presence or absence of rabbit droppings are great indicators :-)

  • Great way to skin a rabbit!! and heres a trick, The trick is to cut open the stomoc like you would any other time & raise the rabbit above your head like you are holding onto an axe and then accellerate the critter downward and between your legs. The entrail will come out when your forearms stop abruptly as they slam into your thighs. It is this sudden stop that causes the dressing to take place. works everytime and just as easy as this skinning method. can clean them in a matter of 2 mins =)))

  • you should post a video of this

  • slick...

this is where food comes from, people.

  • lmao that was cool as fuck

  • does anyone know what to do with the skins to make them soft so i can keep them to make something with? i don't want them to rot or smell + i want them to be fixable, soft + clean like fur coats how can i do it?

  • i do you got to tan them you got to let them dry out in a cold room with salt on them then soak them in a pound of alum....

  • no,but close with rabbits or small un greasy game aka not coons or fox. you put salt on the skin and clean it off(scrape with a knife) after a day or 24 hrs and resalt the second time you "clean" the skin make sure all the fat is off then clean with toothbrush and dawn dishsoap lightly (to make sure the salt is off) then cabbellas sells a formula that you rub on and let set [: or else you have to use the brains ehhhhhhck do the formula

    -luke

  • For small things like squirrels, I heard removing the fat and salting was good enough.

  • you Nova scotian-- I am --- snareing rocks----please give me some tips!!!!!!!-

  • Some liberal bed wetter has flagged this video.

  • Great Video,

OT: wow you have to be 18 or older to

watch a rabbit being dressed on youtube now?

    LOL thats f$@%@%# crazy.

I think people need to give their heads a shake.

so if your 17 you shouldn't be watching this video according to youtube. lmao

  • Great vid! I raised rabbits for meat when my kids (7 of 'em) were small.Got to the point where I could kill and dress out a bunny in 3 minutes flat, lol! Do you ever save the skins? I made a lot of *bunny blankets* for the kids (my 26 yr old still has his and sleeps with it, lmao)

  • once again great job northernpike56 now to finilize it you must show us a good way to cook it on an open fire

  • why would someone flag? this vid they shouldve never seen it

  • Great Vid... Ive skinned my fair share of Rabbits but never this way....everyone has thier own method i suppose !

  • Great video

    Good idea with the warning

I'm not sure whether you'll know this, but, how legal is trapping in the UK?

Never mind if you don't know but could you point me out to anywhere i could find out

thank you for your time and your videos

  • Where I live rabbit snaring is legal. The season is from Nov 1 to the end of Feb.

You should be able to find out the laws in your area by contacting your local DNR (Department of Natural Resources) at least that is what it is called here in Canada, it may be called something different in the UK.

  • Thanks for the educational video. Great music, too! I'm overrun with rabbits, but I'm not sure I can legally snare them, as I'm in the city limits. Of course, if I get hungry enough.... ;-)

Can you make another field dressing video using the whole rabbit? I know this particular rabbit had been mangled by a predator so that only the back legs were good, but I'd still like to know what to do with the rest of the rabbit. :-)

  • eww

  • delicious

  • 2 of my favorite things, trapping and led zeppelin

  • name of the song?

  • Kashmir...Led Zeplin

  • Yum Yum Yum!

Rabbits taste better than chicken. They have less fat and are much healthier for you too.

  • Quicker though. They make you sing for your dinner.

  • for me... if i wasnt goingto do anything with the fur... i would just burn off all the hair and make surei burjn ALL of them off.. and then i scrape off all the hair in water.. and then i start going from there... eat the skin with it...

  • can you make a video on skinning and quartering a squirrel

  • Since I believe I would do an injustice to, "skinning and quartering a squirrel" sadly I will have to decline on that one :-(

  • you can just case skin a squirrel(much better than the traditional method) as for quartering i imagine that it is just a choice as to how you want it

  • nice video

  • Nice vid.. Thats how I was taught to dress a rabbit. Good show! The music is good too.

  • So, you don't have to cut the skin... It just pulls away that easy, or did I miss something?

  • No knife, just hands...

  • Thanks

  • i would like to know how to cure and treat the hide so its well and flexible.

  • I hope my answer to your previous question gets you in the right direction...Sry :-(

  • me too = [

  • hi. i am really interested in trapping. my dad got me into it. i'm only 12 so its probably not going to be easy to catch a squirel with a snare (i suck at making snares) but i got my dads squirrel cage trap and its set outside right now. i live in southern missouri so it shouldn't be that hard to find a rabit or squirel. all i want is a skin stretched accross my wall to complete the hunterness of it. i need to learn hows to skin one to make sure i keep the skin in good condition. thanks

  • Hey little man, I wish I could help you with that one...You can probably get better advice from a fur trapper than from me...

I only trap for food so I would'nt be much help to you :-(

  • all i know of what to do, is that after u got the pelt, u need to stretch it out really good, then, cover the raw part of it with salt then hang it up to dry.

  • Cool videos. Didn't think you mainlanders knew how to do that kind of stuff. Just kidding. Hello from a fellow snowshoe hare connoisseur in Newfoundland

  • Greetings NLHNTR, Thanks :-)

  • top video thanks for that

  • Thanks alot bricardiff1969 :-)

  • is that the only place you can get meat from a rabbit? if not were else?

  • Front legs and the back...

  • that fur looks warm , lol

  • what is this tune man??

    I love it

  • Led Zeppelin - Kashmir

  • do you use a knife to cut down the back legs? or do you just tear it off like hunters do:P

  • No knife...just hands. It tears easily :-)

  • yeah but if u wanna keep the fur to make glove covers u gotta cut the legs straight;)

  • nicee!! some good meat right there!! i like to make myself some fresh frog legs sometimes.. i go in the pond outback of the farm and catch a few frogs and eat for dinner its dellicious

  • I've yet to try frog legs...might just have to go gigging sometime :-)

  • thank u for showing us the secrets of the hunting sir . Sorry for my poor english...we want more videos !

  • Thanks for your comment...more vids are in the works

  • how much of the skin remains in tact with this method? it looked like you just throw it away?

  • Ya, I don't worry too much about the hide...I only catch rabbits for comsumption.

  • can u help me with trapping rabbits ( snares)and all u neded for th hid is no iodized salt clumped every where after u scrap all the fat off and stretch it to dry then it is tanned and ready for sewing i gess

  • Did you already losen the skin by the legs of the rabbit with your knife, or can you just tear the skin down?

  • *not tear I ment put off the skin. I don't know the right word at the moment.

  • No knife...just hands. It tears easily :-)

  • thanks sir.

  • good work on salvaging, I personally wouldn't have ate that meat but i would have put it in my lobster pot! - still salvaged just in a different way. Hate wasting animals.

  • i do this almost every day :)

  • you have some really good music choices on your videos man! keep up the good work.

  • I thought so too...Thanks alot :-)

  • Hey do you eat that after the trap?

  • Every animal I harvest gets consumed. :-)

  • i like...... i see thatyou are a good hunter andyou like to fishing.i am fom romania and i like to fishing and hunting

  • thanks it helped me a lot.

  • right on dude...

  • Daaaa. I gave an warning in the intro too...You know the content, don't watch it!

  • if you dont eat meat, it's easy to think that a video like this is just gore. anyone who is not a vegan has a (mostly ignored) responsibility to learn about where there food comes from. learning to trap small game is one of many steps in bringing yourself back into the circle of life. If you live in modern society, you support an infrastructure that kills animals, regardless of your dietary habbits. and please remember, tho only real difference between an animal and a plany is YOUR PERCEPTION

  • i ment to say plant

  • the only reason people started eating meat to begain with was purly for survival so when the brainless masses can`t afford eating veggies and tofo they will crawl back to the basic hunter gather techniques or they will die

  • Actualy humans evolved to eat meat because of our growing energy needs. meat is a better source of protine than veggies. so we started eating fluffy little animals like that bunny up there in the video

  • o quit your damn whining. its a fact of life. and whats so disgusting about food, its better to teach kids where food really comes from instead of feeding them fairy tales.

  • dude grow up. It's nature and nothing in nature is really disgusting. If you were starving you are saying that you wouldn't eat it because of the way it looks. Shut your face healthyoptions. We don't want to hear it.

  • HealthyOptions flagged this video for the young viewers. I believe this to be educational. What should be banned is all the trash that the young viewers watch on television and video games. Good video.

  • when i gutt a rabbit i puch all the gutts towards the bumm of it and then i fling it really hard between my legs it works very well for me to just gutt it and thank you it was very informational

  • differnt then what i do

  • When u pulled the fur down from the legs did u cut it at all ?

  • No, it naturally tears easily...

  • you've told everyone that it tears easily mabe if they read the comments before they post you wouldn't have to keep putting this....lol

  • dude explain what you're doing so Jimmy Paige doesnt have to

  • Paige says it all...

  • Ive looked at all these videos and no two have the same procedure. whats with that?

  • I guess there's more than 1 way to skin a rabbit :-)

  • Useful video ! Thx.

  • gruesome, but you know what you're doing for sure.

  • that is some skinny rabbit...

  • looks like ur a pro
