  • how many takes to get the hat to land on the cam?

  • whats wrong with "double irony"?

  • haha CURSE YOU!!!!!!

You just kept trying to annoy the grammar nazis in your audience.

  • Sir! I like ur shirt!

  • hey roo not toe be a dork or anything but that was an octopus it was a squid at 06:28

  • There's one on the game cube too

  • This is my all-time favourite Adventure Island game! And the music, gawd, it had one of the best sound tracks ever made. Just play the theme song for Fuwa-Fuwa island in the background and feel the awesomeness!

  • @Lupucillo i so agree the music of super adventure island II is definatly one of the best soundtracks ever mad i love the fuwa-fuwa island theme espellay the poka-poka island theme and i also think that super adventure island II happens to be my favorite adventure island game too mainly because the game isnt as insanly hard as the other adventure island games just like roo said the game defeculty is medium streanth

  • Whats with the use of "ironic" in almost every sentence? A lot of stuff presented wasn't ironic at all unless I'm missing some sort of joke.

  • @vivelecorn I feel you are missing some sort of joke, yes

  • @vivelecorn The joke was it seems people have lost the meaning of irony, which Roo adresses. Which, in itself is ironic because he is using incorrect use of irony.

  • You are awesome. Nice hat toss by the by.

  • Super Adventure Island II isn't the only Adventure Island title that stands out. Adventure Island IV went with an action adventure gameplay style as well.

  • I loved how there was Tenacious D music playing throughout this

  • did anyone else think of Tenacious D when the wonder boy came up?

  • @ILoveTequitos i thought of the master system, then other master system games, it was a fun console for its day

  • wait till the very end its hilarious! or just skip twords the end

  • 12:20 Cartridge or virtual console... and, how about using an emulator? Easier that way.

  • This video was ironic.

  • 7:50 was the racer on the lowest lane a fox who was flying with his tail?

  • 6:27 That is a squid!!!!!! Not an octopus. sorry if somebody already said that, but i couldn't let that go unnoticed.

  • "No excuse not to pick it up"...what if i dont have a wii?

  • @TripyWay Just download a Super NES emulator. Easier and cheaper.

  • @TripyWay buy one?

  • @CarmenOfSpades not possible for everybody

  • awwwwww theres no reset button

  • You didnt use the Irony word properly... not a single time.

  • @AFKabi i'm pretty sure that was the joke

  • Is the song played in the background from the actual game cause it sounds very similar to the song Wonderboy by Tenacious D... If that is from the actual soundtrack that would be cool of Tenacious D.

  • @hicharlie883 I would also like to know that!

  • Jack black must have played this game. RIG A GOO GOO RIG A GOO GOO

  • thanks for sharing i had fun watching this.

  • Awesome, I was wondering when there would be more Gem videos! Kind of a side question, you seem well educated (by the way you speak and edit your videos) what type of degree (s) do you have?

  • Super Adventure island II is one of my favourite adventure games on the snes! I freakin' love! except for the ending, they get really sissy!

  • Comment removed

  • great review, definitly want to play this now :D

  • Another great review man

  • Is that an 8-Bit version of Tenacious D's "Wonder Boy"? Brilliant :)

  • @V4Now Ummm 8 bit version of what?

  • its Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog @ 6:35

  • Where the hell have you been?

  • This is one of my most nostalgic and favorite SNES games I own. Awesome review of it, Roo!

  • I really hope the future Wonder Boy game is Wonder Boy in Monster World. Most people feel that Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair is the best of the series. I for one would love to see you give its much under-rated sequel some exposure, especially since I personally feel it's far superior.

  • I'm in love with you Roo, and i'm a man. I know you're gay, so let's hook up.

  • @mobilesuitZer0 I think he already has a girl...

    Sadly.

  • @Loliciousfuga Prob someone from his marching band.

  • I don't get why you keep saying things are ironic. Am i missing something?

  • @theflyingninja1 yes you are :)

  • @gamesessions Care to elaborate? lol

  • revenge of drancon any1?

    only 1 i ever played

  • is that tenacious d i hear? :D

  • @KuyotoDotCom It is! Wonderboy track :D

  • Throwing the hat at camera was a nice touch :)

  • that's not an octopuss. it's a squid. and you call yourself a person on the internet who has no real liability should you be wrong.

  • Great review! I knew about this game, but not much :D

  • 6:27

Being the obnoxious prick I am I must point out that is not an octopus, that is a squid.

  • Wait.

Zelda fans remind me on Mass Effect fans, at least on BSN fans.

    That's pretty bad.

  • 6:36 Tails?

  • Best reviews in YouTube!

  • Love the midi wonderboy, ....thats teleconisis kyle

  • lol my friend got super adventure island 2 for 5 bucks

  • 6:25 "this octopus" that is actually technically a squid hoiven maiven!

  • the real irony is begin the review commenting on the creation of wonder boy and never talk about WONDER BOY 3 on the SEGA master system or the TG16. A far better gam;made years beffore Super Adventure Island II (SNES); a true 8bit gem.

  • @grinrause but a like the review as always, keep the making them,

your reviews are the best ones on youtube

  • On my drive to work I always pass a car with plates that say "Roo". Always make me wonder when your next video is coming out.

  • that review was so ironic

  • lol love the midi wonder boy in the back ground, almost didnt realise its tenacious D

  • Good as always Roo, keep up the good work !

  • Really love your work. A+. As good as AVGN. Keep it up!

  • Woke up expecting to watch side scrollers, found something better.

  • This review was quite ironic

  • Thanks for the great video as always

  • Doesn't the fourth Famicom game also have an open-ended design?

  • @ABlackFalcon yes adventure island 4 did have a open-ended design expect you have to relay on passwords to continue the game compare to super adventure island 2 which you can save your progress anywhere in the game

  • Why not put the stuff from the last minute of the video at the beginning of the video?

  • I really enjoyed that! Great review. Thanks for releasing these! :D

  • I love you, Roo. The "ironic" bit, and the misuse of the word throughout the video, made me laugh.

    Great review as always.

Man, I can't be the only one who's watching it for the third time now, am I? First on Retrowaretv, then on COTGW and now here.

  • Do a Super Mario rpg 16-bit gem. Please 

  • Also, sorry to be a grammar nazi (I'm so...so sorry) but every instance you used "ironically" should have been "coincidentally" instead.

    Did I say sorry?

  • ROO! I WANT YOUR EARTHBOUND FIGURINES! Where'd you get them? TELL MEEEEEEEE!

  • @icarus212001 They were released in crane machine games in Japan and made by Banpresto. I found mine on ebay, but it took a long wait before I got them for a reasonable price.

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf Oh man, thanks for the heads up! Also, thanks for all the great videos. Keep up the awesome work!

  • wonder boy was the shit!

  • OMG! THE MUSIC FOR THE GAME WONDERBOY SOUNDS ODDLY FAMILIAR TO THE TENACIOUS D SONG "WONDERBOY"

HOLY ALL CAPS RAGE MIND FUCK...

  • you look like Pitfall Harry taking a vacation in Cabo

  • Is Killer Instinct a 16-gem

  • now that was my game of the day

  • You look like buster bluth

  • Nice touch with the hat. :3

  • @BakerBoys95 reminds me a bit of fear and loathing in las vegas

  • so... It's Zelda II?

  • Where did you get those Earthbound action figures at 2:41.

  • @Retrogamer712 I would also like to know this.

  • @Retrogamer712 Those were prizes for an arcade game in Japan (like a crane game) you can find them on ebay.

  • @ThoseOtherGuysReview Whats the average cost? I really hope its not over 30 bucks.

  • @Retrogamer712 You can find them on Ebay but they go for A LOT of money. Yahoo Japan Auctions are your best bet if you don't want to pay a fourtune.

  • @corgal2 That's a shame. Thanks for the info.

  • @Retrogamer712 ebay,i see them on there all the time

  • This is awesome. I'm a big fan of the wonder boy games (And Zelda II) and not so much the Adventure Island games so i'll have to check this out. Adventure Island IV on the famicom also went with a formula close to that of Wonder Boy.

  • @suicidalparrot You are quite correct. When reading up on the series, I saw that this was the only game that strayed from the platformer formula. Obviously, they must have been only talking about the games released in

America. And, not being familiar with AI4 personally, I didn't catch that. It does seem like an interesting one to check out, though.

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf It's definitely worth a look if you enjoy this game or any of the games in the Wonder Boy series. In my opinion the Wonder Boy games outclasses the Adventure Island games Especially from Wonder Boy III: Dragon's Trap to Monster World IV. I think I just enjoy the action adventure element to the straight forward platforming. I had no idea that Super Adventure Island II shared this formula, and if it weren't for this video I'd probably have never given it a second look.

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf So thanks for showing me another great game to track down and play

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf Fun fact: AI4 was the last official game released for the Famicon

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf Good luck finding a copy for cheap, though. Like Super Adventure Island II, Adventure Island IV was released near the end of the Famicom's lifespan... wait, scratch that. It was the LAST game ever released for the system! The cheapest copy I ever saw went for atleast $90... Personally, I'd just buy a reproduction, since it is not only cheaper, but fan-translated.

  • 11:55 - 12:02

    O_O

Err... Doesn't Nintendo censor that stuff out?

  • ah so great to see one of these again

  • Wat with u not trying to speak japanese just make me go lol.

  • I might get this, but I feel I should beat zelda 2 first xP

  • 12:01 I love the nintendo games...

  • !2:01 I love the nintendo games...

  • fyi the reason ja[panese products kick ass

    electronics games cars boxing gloves

becuz they do it not just for money but for honor

it goes back to the samurai days where honor was above anything

if they make a crappy product they have to commit sepuku

however in america honor doesnt matter

money is the end all be all

thats y we get licensed copycat bullshit games

they dont give a shit about making a good game

to hell with a good game, they rater make a game that makes money above quality

  • great review

btw how many takes did the ending take to do?

  • @mogiethefirst You saw them all. ;)

  • @ClanOfTheGrayWolf nice lol

  • i consider the 32 bit consoles spiritual succesors to the snes and gesnsis but the n64 went off in a new direction

some of the best 16 bit era games are actually 32 bit games for saturn n psx

  • lol at the ironic joke at the end. These jokes are why i love your videos, that and they are very informative and very well done.

  • This videos are great, keep it up!

  • New 16-bit gems video! FUCK YEAH!!!

  • i havent seen one of these in so long! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Another 16-Bit Gems video!
